I am so happy, I've reached another goal weight [69kg], so I have to go back to my Doctor to get another goal weight [hopefully I can persuade him to make it 62kg] he is rather keen on small achievable goals, while I'd prefer to get the bad news all in one hit, LOL!

Very difficult to go walking in this heat, the dog hates it and it's dark before it's cool enough to get out, but I still have been keeping up:

Everyone is noticing now that I have lost weight, as I wear clothes I haven't worn for years! I really need to go down to my garage to get out more of my old clothes that I haven't worn in 9 years, since I got married and pregnant with Caleb, because at this rate I will soon fit into them, LOL!

Yesterday and again this morning I weighed 67.5kg, [148.8 lbs or 10 1/2 stone], I did 10,641 steps [8.51km/5.32miles/360 calories burned] and I consumed 1334 calories. 32.6% body fat [healthy range for my age is 21-31%] and my body hydration was 53.9% [optimal is 55-66%] so I am slightly dehydrated.

Saturday Jan 24: 3596 Pedometer steps

Yesterday was my rest day and I did 3,596 steps, but I wasn't wearing the pedometer most of the day when I was trying on all of my clothes and sorting through them all, ready to start work next week. I consumed 1105 calories, walked 1.79 miles and burned 142 calories.

I am sad because I have to get ready for work now.

I think my body has got over the pizza slip up, LOL! On my new scales I weigh 68kg! Yes, I succumbed to the Manager's Special at Big W for digital scales which measure body fat and hydration with new space age technology. I decided it was time for a big reward, $29 for the scales which are normally $39. On my old scales I weigh 67.8kg, but since the SA Weight Watchers scales always measure me heavier, this will probably be a good thing, LOL!

Today is my rest day, but my walking has been going really well.

Thu Jan 22: 20,029 steps, 16.02km/10.01miles, 793 calories burned and 1268 calories consumed.

Fri Jan 23: 20,214 steps, 16.17km/10.1miles, 801 calories burned and 1297 calories consumed.

Oh I really stuffed up today having a vegetarian pizza from Pizza Hut, celebrating my 2.1 kg loss, LOL! So I went out and did some extra walking tonight to make up for the calorie blow-out 1980 calories!

32,167 steps/25.73km/16.08 miles/1288 calories burned.

Let's hope my slip up will boost my metabolism and stimulate more weight loss,

Tues Jan 20: 1,112 calories consumed, 21,423 steps/17.13km/10.71 miles/862 calories burned, 120 Fitness Minutes.

I'm still having trouble eating in this heat, still not managing to get to 1200 calories... I'm sure my stomach has shrunk, it's certainly a lot flatter because my abdomen measurement is now equal to my widest hip measurement now, instead of being a lot bigger.

Hi there, WantstobeMini! The doctor weighed me as 82kg when I started [I was wearing shoes!] but then when SA Weight Watchers weighed me I was 81.75, but I have worked SO HARD in the last 12 weeks. I decided to join SparkPeople and SAWW [the cheap $2 a time one not WWI!] because I want to hang out with people who are SUCCESSFUL at losing weight. If you want to be wise [in a particular area] you should walk with the wise [in that particular area], so I'm doing the economy version, LOL!

I belong to enough other message boards so I'm not really interested in corresponding with people that I'm never likely to meet, which is why I joined the Adelaide Sparkies, so I could at least meet up in real life with some others that are trying to lose weight, LOL!

I'm putting all my stats here for Monday Jan 19, and if I get time I put them in the Sparkies Down Under ones as well, but I may well only post there once a week once my life gets too busy. It's been really hot here Noarlunga way, and we went down to West Lakes to see the dentist for my children yesterday. I just did not want to eat anything and had to force myself to have a boiled egg. I only just made my calorie range because I was binging on nectarines [very naughty with all that sugar!]

Jan 19: I consumed 1246 calories. All I wanted to do was eat fruit, and binge on nectarines, it's so hot here, 38C.

I did two one hour walks with the dog, Kikki is turning into a perfect companion for me.

Pedometer Steps for the day: 20,767 steps/16.61km/10.38 miles/842 calories burned.

HEY TANIA!! just wanted to say huge congrats on reaching the 60's! i'm new to this group and relatively new to Spark, but have certainly clocked up my hours on here in the last two weeks so finally coming to grips with it and like it! but very happy that you reach the 60's that will be my second goal! ;)

Saturday is always my rest day and my muscles really needed resting yesterday! I was back on track today, but I'm finding it difficult to eat all of my calories with the hot weather. I just don't want to eat, and all I do want to eat is fruit and Nestle diet yoghurt. I must make up some diet jelly, but that's rather lowcal too. I didn't even feel like peanut butter, but had a tiny bit of extra virgin coconut oil instead of butter - it was very yummy. Today I was the lightest I've been since March 2nd 2003! I have worked so hard to lose over these last 12 weeks.

Stats:

Jan 17th: 4425 steps/3.54km/2.21 miles/180 calories burned and 1510 calories eaten.

Jan 18th: 16,011 steps/13.44km/8 miles/690 calories burned and 1154 calories eaten.

January 16th Stats:

31,422 steps, Walked 190 minutes, 25.13 km or 15.71 miles.

Calories consumed 1334, Calories burned 1275.

I really tried hard today. On my bathroom scales which are not accurate, I am now 69.3 kgs, so I'm now in the sixties at last...

I've been given the doc's okay to start moving again, but need to start slowly. Yesterday I went to Colonnades and wasn't exhausted like I had been the last time.
I was thinking about going to watch the bike race here in Willunga, it comes around the Main Street about half a dozen times.
I'll check out the pedometer and get it ready to start using today, it'll be interesting to see how my steps increase as I continue to feel better.

Sorry to leave you 'talking' to yourself.
I've been back to the doc and the blood tests are clear so she says there is no reason why I can't start exercising again, just to take it easy as it's been so long.
I haven't tried out the pedometer yet, I need to read the instructions and set it for my gait!
Today I went shopping so I spent some time walking through the shopping centre! Have to start somewhere!

Looks like I'm just talking to myself here, LOL! I really want to know how all of you are doing with the pedometer goal!!! It is really helping me. The only other challenge I am doing is the Sparkies Down Under Calorie Count. Watching what I eat is more important than exercising for me, although I am walking two hours a day at the moment, even if it has to be early in the morning and late at night because of the heat. How did you all survive 41C yesterday? I was still out walking at 9.30pm in the dark and it was so beautiful...

For Tuesday January 13 I did:

Pedometer steps = 18,580 [14.86km]

Fitness Minutes = 120 [2 hours]

Calories consumed = 1105 [4623kj]

Calories burned = 769 [3217.5kj]

Another great day, I walked 21,190 steps or 16.95km, [882 calories burned] but I've been naughty again and had a little chocolate, and I skipped my evening meal. So I've only consumed 1084 calories, I'm 300 down and I just don't feel like eating anything else today. I know I'm being bad, but I just can't be bothered getting up to eat, LOL! I think I ate too much celery because I feel so full. I've never had this problem before, but apart from the 5 little squares of chocolate [120 empty calories that made me feel great!] it was a balanced healthy diet, so I'm not forcing myself to eat. Just as well I ate plenty over Christmas, rather too much feasting, so a little fasting won't go amiss, and hopefully won't mess up my weight loss.

Actually when I stepped on the scales this morning, I noticed that I am now back to the same weight I was on December 17th, 71.1kg, before the feasting began. But it isn't an official weigh-in, that will happen on Wednesday night at my SA Weight Watchers group, I don't trust my scales, LOL! I do hope there will be some downward movement on the scales this week...

How is everyone else going with recording their steps? Are you all counting calories too? I so want to get down to a healthy Body Mass Index.

This is exciting, I just calculated my BMI with the calculator here at Sparkpeople.com and I'm now down to 28.8 BMI which sure beats the 29.9 I was before, and the 33.3 I was not so long ago when I started...

Hurray, today I only made one bad choice foodwise, I had 3 chocolate squares, all of 66 calories! I calculated it in to all of my calories, and I was still under today, I only had 1267 calories, but since it was my rest day, I only walked 7518 steps. I believe in having one day a week to completely rest my muscles, and it seems to be working well so far. I only burned 270 calories today. I do like having a pedometer.

Well today I walked 17.69 km or 22,114 steps.

Unfortunately it did make me rather hungry and I did end up consuming more food and not making the healthiest of choices right at the end of the day...

I went to http://walking.about.com/library/cal/ucc

and found out that I burned 919 calories.

Then I tracked my calories and found that I consumed 1677 Calories. I've decided to count calories rather than kj because this site works in calories, so I'm allowed 1370-1720 calories, and YES I managed to stay within the range, despite eating my normal healthy meals PLUS the small chocolate bavarian cheesecake and the peanut butter and the way I pigged out on Nestle diet yoghurt, and enjoyed Weight Watchers Carrot Cake, and WW Belgian Chocolate Brownies, and flame grilled fish and a few corn chips and a few grams of cheese. Needless to say I have eaten so much that I'm not hungry at all at this moment, LOL!

Tomorrow I will do better with my food choices and avoid the non-diet Chocolate Bavarian Cheesecake and have the diet jelly and WW chocolate mousse instead, and the Feelgood chocolate milk and the V8 vegetable juice - talk about budgeting my calories! Cheesecake is outrageously expensive in calorie terms...

I have just been to a site that calculates how many calories per mile walked

the only problem is that in Adelaide we work on km and kj.

This site says that 2000 steps = 1 mile

So 10000 steps = 5 miles and 359 calories burned.

Friday: 8,000 steps - sitting in a car for over 6 hours does not help.

Saturday: 20,185 steps [16.14 km]

Sunday: 11,500 steps [9.2 km] visiting relatives day

Monday: 15,057 steps [12.04 km] once again a travel day but it did help doing the scenic route along the Great Ocean Road and walking the trails out to see the Apostles, London Bridge, and the Blow Hole, missed the accident at Lorne by 3 hours, where 8 people were injured - it was right at the spot where we had lunch at 1pm.

Tuesday: so far 9,206 because we spent about 6 hours in the car again, but I might make the 10,000 steps by the time I get to bed, so that will give me an excuse to post again if I make the GOAL!

Hi there! I'm not exactly in Adelaide at the moment, but actually in Geelong at a caravan park where there is no wireless internet, only a computer which feeds on dollar coins every 10 minutes unfortunately, but at least it has a swimming pool for the kids!

The day we travelled, Friday, I only did about 8,000 steps, but the next day I did over 20,000, and I think I did about 11,000 yesterday, while so far today I've done 6,000. I did the washing today and it's been rather warm, so I'm waiting until evening before I go out to walk.

I did 3 mins on the exercise bike on Friday!!! Yes you read right, no mis-print, I have to start somewhere! (I should also let you know that I am recovering from surgery and am starting way behind step one).

So far I've gone 10.22km or 15,489 steps today.

My husband gave me a lovely new watch [for our 9th Wedding Anniversary] which measures my heart rate from Kmart, and apparently I have burned 1952 calories today according to my smart little watch!

I'd love to hear how the other Adelaide Sparkies are going with the team goal!
