Hello all! I am Ebony and I watch Joyce Meyer just about every morning and have enjoyed her program for years now. I have several of her books and even had a chance to see her live when she visited Memphis TN several years ago. I wish you all the best!

Hi my name is Becca and I am new to this team I use to be on spark a long time ago but I fell away from it for a while. I have gained back quite a bit of weight and feel pretty crummy about it but I can't change that now all I can do is move forward it. I'm hoping to find some support here. I can't wait to meet some new ppl to share this journey with.

I wanted to attempt to answer your question as I understand it. Some may see it differantly...

Anyhow there is thew kind of meditation that is often used in TM, New Age, and various eastern religions. By this, I mean one wants to blank out their thoughts as much a posible, visualize scenes or focus on a word or concepts.

The bible concept of mediation is reflecting and focusing on God or Christ It could be something about God's character or an attributeof His.

It should be thoughts that support God's word and truths. Psalms 1:1-3

Hi I am new here So if I make a few mistakes I am sorry I still have to explore this team

My friend and also My cousins Friend really tuned me into Joyce Meyer. I have been a Christian all my life and learned about Joyce Meyer pretty quickly.

I have a question though. I've read a few Joyce Meyer books, such as The Confident Woman, Power Thoughts, Change Your Life, Etc, but I've had a looming thought over t he way I pray. Is meditation with the power points allowed as long as you pray to God?

Hello everyone,

I was looking for a Christian team that was smaller in number. If you follow Joyce Meyer, it doesn't get much better. emoticon I love watching her because she tells it like it is. I haven't been active with SparkPeople for over 2 years, but I look forward to being on the team and sticking with it this time.

Please forgive me everyone but I tried to download a screen saver and you wouldn't believe all of the stuff that hopped up. So I worked for hours on that finally wore myself out and went to bed for two hours.

I have been on spark many years. I have been a member of Christian's with Fibromyalgia from almost the beginning of my Spark journey. The Fibro limits me in many ways to what I can do. I right now am getting back to tracking my food and exercise after getting away from it for a while.

I occasionally blog on my spark page but I also have a website that's a work in progress that goes with the "future" ministry I am creating.

I just started Power Thoughts. The biggest struggle I see in the immediate future is I am about to enter a demanding PhD program in psychology and my "reading" time is going to be cut to more academic than want to read.....I fully believe I need this "relaxation" reading as much as the degree.....

Hi emoticon Belle (Angela) I too love Joyce Meyer and I am going to be going to see her (if no plans change) in October I would like to be able to go to the Women's conference someday, but maybe when I can afford it and have a group of lady friends to bring down the cost This is the only 1 with a charge. I got to see her before a long time a go, then a few years ago she was going to be even closer to were I lived, but due to some stress I didn't want to drive back and forth 2 times a day for the 3 days, and I had a daughter still in school so that to would have been a problem emoticon Oh well things always happen for a reason. And sorry for going on, but again nice to meet you! And enjoy Joyce emoticon

Hello I am Belle (Angela)........I am a huge fan of Joyce Meyer and was dancing in my chair to find this group. I am presently reading her book Power Thoughts. I fit this around starting my own ministry, seeking a job, and returning to school to obtain my PhD in psychology. God brought me to my knees when I was following Jonah's footsteps and running from the "Nineveh" selected for me. After my "days of floating" in the belly of the whale. I worked my way through a horrible economy (lost my job), two masters degrees and now a passion to work in emotional healing/management laying in God's arms of strength.

Tonight I was planning on doing 5 intervals of walking/running. I hopped on the treadmill, put a Joyce Meyer video on my tablet and it was good, before I knew it, I had done 7 intervals. I should have kept going, I felt like I could go forever, but I knew realistically, I needed to get some other things done before bed. I'm glad to have found this group. My women's bible study just finished The Battlefield of the Mind book and workbook. It was amazing. I just love reading and listening to Joyce. She is a JOY and inspiration to me.

Due to an unforeseen illness I have been homebound. I have been put on medication that has detrimentally affected my weight. My activity ability is very very limited but I have decided that is not an excuse not do do what I can to get back good healthy eating habits and do what little physical activity I can. My goal this week is to limit simple carbs and to increase protein.
The Lord is my Victory.

I like the book, Praying God's Word and have given away several copies. I also think although the verses are in particular categories, they have a vast application.

She did another book called " Breaking Free". In it it has a wonderful illustration concerning renewing the mind has 4 or 5 steps, and it goes right along with the book you just got.If you'd like me to tell you about the word picture, contact me through my e-mail box here.

Our bible study just finished James (Beth Moore) about 3 months ago. We are now doing the book of Deuteronomy. I just got her book Praying God's Word today and I am looking forward to reading it. I need to get started on some new knitting projects because I keep messing up the hat I am working on. I am new to knitting and am enjoying it when I am doing it right?!?!

That's a long time to be married these days. That's wonderful! emoticon

My sis has lost nearly 100 lbs. Her weight has edged up 8 lbs. since November, ad she is trying to figure it out. She is trying to maintain. She is very active and eats good, she is just allowing herself to eat a few bites of whole grain carbs. She even told me she only ate 1 piece of candy at Christmas. She should be allowed to eat normal, and not to remain on a diet.

I just finished Beth Moore's study on James.

Ok, my name is Rose and I have been married 23 years. I do not work outside the home. I have been working on losing weight (with God's help) for almost 4 years and have lost 100 pounds and have about 50 more to go. I am involved with a Beth Moore bible study on Tues. afternoons and enjoy walking and doing exercise videos. I also do a dance class once a week. that's about all for now. Thank you for the welcome to this site.

I came to the Lord in my sophomore year in high school. My husband and I have one son, and he is now an adult.

I work with the babies and have a 3-4 grade class of girls on Wed. night.

I like to walk, ride my bike, run a bit, and various other things.

hi. It's delightful to have you come and join us. It's excellent that you still exercise. My mom was walking 3-3 miles, or swimming, but now she can't do so much, after she fractured he back two summers ago.

I hope we can extend warm friendship, so it makes your loss, not quit as hard, but being with someone so long would make it very hard. I'll try and go to your page later. emoticon

Good morning to all, I am new to this team, but not to Sparks. I am 81 years young, and became a Widow last May 1st. It is a different life, I have a very caring, loving family, and a wonderful church family and friends, and of course all of my Spark Friends.

I like Joyce Meyers, and was excited when I read about this group. I just went through a scary time in my life, I had a mammogram, had to go back for a ultra sound, then again for a biopsy. Praise God, it came back negative. The Doctor's office called me yesterday. I was so relieved, and promised God that if I had a little longer on this beautiful earth I would serve him even more.

Looking forward to getting acquainted with you all.

Please visit my Spark Page and learn a little more of me. :)

Hi Lindy. I'm glad you came here.

Yes, several of us have hear her in person and most of us have watched her show sometime , listened to her, or read a book. She really addresses some topics that more in depth teachings are quit practical and needed.

I loved the Battlefield of Mind and the newest one that explained the other side of the coin i practical ways.

I just got their magazine a few days ago, and am very interested i the new book that discusses our habits. That sparks my interest . emoticon

Hi, my name is Lindy and I love Joyce Meyer! I think God has used her tremendously! I have had the opportunity to see her at a conference twice, and will be going again this upcoming May! I watch her online, own several of her books, and contribute to her financially. God has taught me a lot through her voice!

Hello from Alabama! I have been on Spark for a few years and it has helped me maintain my weight until this time last year. I was on some medication that I believe caused me to gain over 20 pounds....it couldn't have been from all that eating :)

Well I am new to this team and wanted to say Hi Y'all...I am 52 needing to lose 25 pounds. A new grandmother who wants to feel light on her dancin' feet! Joyce Meyer is one of my modern day disciples who I enjoy listening to because she tells it like it is. I am a "soon to be" speaker and have written two Christian devotional journals. I want to be like a combination of Zig Ziglar and Joyce Meyer one day!

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Frances

Livelygirl2....Laugh away the stress is good! Glad my screen name tickles your fancy. Minds alike I assume.Love choosing names that give an expression or picture.

To answer your question.... I generally exercise by walking or climbing stairs or using the rubber bands. I had a treadmill but my daughter has it now... since she gave her Father a recliner rocker for Christmas, the treadmill took up too much room (with the chair), so now if I want to use the treadmill I have to go to my daughters house to use it or buy a smaller version. NOT! Will just do my usual...walk, but yesterday and the day before I shoveled snow..... that was my exercise for those days. I get enough cardio just going up and down stairs waiting on my hubby! susana

Livelygirl2... Your welcome.... am fortunate my Uncle was in "oil" and learned all about its byproducts. For the fact I am allergic to petroleum products and distillates and its how I learned about the phenol and its why I know about Orange peels having phenol on them....

I used to break out in a rash after peeling or eating an orange with the peel on... and avoided eating them. But after I was told about the phenol and why oranegs seem to burns me, and real bad. I would break out in a terrible rash after eating one. I was told about the oranges being washed in phenol....it supposed to speed up the ripening of the orange and also keep bugs off the fruit. I alway try and wash my oranges or juice them so as not to expose myself to the phenol. Not alway easy. I prefer tangerines with an easy peel. Love those Cuties! Its how I know what I know, because of experience and being expose to petroleum products! Alway gald to help others learn what I know ....

Gee, thanks for the info about orange peels. I hadn't hear of this one or tried it, but I would have seen it sounded harmless and natural. I did try vinegar and cayenne ( separate ). Neither one worked.Someone said to use chicken wire with rocks on top. I don't have that.

I don't want to harm cats, so I guess I get to clean my public litter box, because the neighbor feeds her cat and puts out extra for the block. We have a long stream of beautiful cats, and I do many are friendly, just that one problem. : )))

welcome Pickles.... hope you can find what your looking for. I find Sparks to be a very good site and been to many over the years looking for about the same things. Found sem relaly ncie Christian friends here. Hope you do too! Will add you to mine.

P.s the one that said about the oranges to keep cat away from the mail box...... the oranges have phenol sprayed on them and its what keeps the cats away. They dont like the smell of phenol.... its also acrid and very harmful to anmals, and when they smell it and it burns them; but whats less harmful to the environment is using cayenne pepper. Cayenne is less harmful to pets and the soil; does similar at keeping cats away and safer for the whole environment is... (I use it because it is safe.... using cayenne pepper or hot pepper.... they cant stand either but cayenne pepper does not harm the soil or the cats.

Phenol will contaminate the soil and make cats sick, so if your a gardener, or lover of animals please do NOT use orange peels for such! Orange peel is actually harmful for the soil and the animals and to humans. Please do use the cayenne pepper instead. Because Phenol can make animals sick and cause you to get issues due to the phenol. Its why I never recommend orange peel in foods! Phenol can cause birth defects too! And who knows what else... it sedates the nerves and kills it off after too much exposure. Phenol is a petrolem byproduct. Peppermint and spearmint can cause similar issues with pets but is safer for people. Phenol is like the anti-coolant in your car! But can burn the esophagus and kill off nerve tissues. Hurts the cats nose.

Mint is also like phenol and acts like a refrigerant and cools down the body but is not as harmful to humans or animals within reason, but I will tell you, I pulled peppermint withotu gloves on and it burned my hands. I also once use this cream on my skin to shave my elgs while on vacation and it burned me so bad and it nearly knocked me out! Peppermint can wear off but phenol does not as quickly. The body absorbs it differently because its made from a petroleum base (according to my uncle who was into petroleum byproducts.) He says it is ahrmful to the nerves. Please do NOT use orange peel.... and do not eat it!

I didn't know this particular thing about oranges. There are so many good things about them. Just yesterday, a lady said, that dries orange peels would keep the cats away for doing their thing by our mailbox.

I am 50 pounds overweight according to my Dr and been trying to lose it but its going slowly. But I am finding if I eat two meals and have a snack instead of supper that I am slowly losing the weight. I believe as we age we dont need to eat as much, so cutting back by oen meal . My biggest meal is breakfast! It has been my key to losing a pound a week on the average. But Holidays do me in! I was down to 167 last week, but I now am back up to 169. Finding one day of more protein and less carbs helps also. More protein in the meal is a great help! Its a balancing act! But i am learning to love greens! But I feel the biggest killer of any diet is snacking on sweets! So switching from a sweet to a fruit has been a help! Fresj squeezed orange. Oranges help to cut down on the cortisol which acsues a person to put the weight on! And to get me thru the night (I am a diabetic) I will have a glass of Almond milk and one small ginger cookie. Or a piece of toast.

Hope everyone else has soem success!

Try eating oranges because they help cut back on the cortisol; which helps you to lose weight. Too much cortisol and you get FAT! Plus your getting lipo-flavinoids when you eat an orange, its in the white portion of the skins; which help your body to digest fats and flush out the liver; and it even helps flush the ear wax out of your ears. If you have an abundance of ear wax, you will also find your hearing will improve as you eat more oranges. Hearing goes because its not geting enough oxygenated blood to it! Lipoflavinoids have been known to help with the circulation of blood and helps so many organs; even the ears. So does CoQ10 help with circulation! Need circulation of your blood to help keep you youthful! Walking helps in so many ways and to hear better believe it or not! Go for it! Eat more oranges! susana

Good morning Team and a sparkilicious Thursday to all. It has been a while since I've posted here, but, that is only because things have been really busy and hectic. I am doing well though, I am so close to my ideal weight that I can almost, almost taste it. I'm exercising 6 times, 4 days a week (mostly using the Body Gospel workout dvd set) some days I also walk in addition to using the dvds. I have never had any problem getting in my recommended water count, and I have even improved in my emotional eating cravings, but getting in the REST is so difficult, I mean I am sleeping, but not resting. (sigh). Anyway, just wanted to say hello give a little update. I am still loving and watching Joyce first thing in the morning as a part of my daily devotions. I single, with no kids, living in the Bahamas, my job is still intense, but spiritually I am GROWING and IMPROVING as I had the opportunity to preach on Prayer in Church this past Sunday morning ...... I often come in the team and read blogs and updates, although I may not comment. And seeing your progress and success in overcoming challenges encourages me, and those of you that share you challenges help me to realize that I am not alone in my situations. All in all Team, the many weights of my life, are coming off one by one. Love you guys.....

Jennifer

P.S. If you know a single guy between the ages of 36-47yrs .... :) I enjoy meeting people :) (yes that's a hint) emoticon

I don't think I commented on this question... If I did way back, that's ok, it would be nice to know some of you. This group and the health/ natural healing one seems more active than some.

I think Joyce is coming to my city of San Jose, CA on October. I think this will be the 3rd or fourth time, she was here ( that I'm aware of.). It think it was 5 or 6 years ago, when she came. At that time, she had really changed her style and format. I think they are trying to appeal to young people and even men, by some of the changes. Besides the set itself and contemporary music; they had all the monies go to Hand of Hope , 1-2 nights. They are also trying to donate to the particular needs in the community.

Our son is grown up. Sadly, he isn't walking with the Lord. We pray for him constantly.

I met the Lord in the sophomore year of high school.

I watch several kids weekly or periodically.

I still haven't purchased, Love Out Loud. Has anyone read it? Whatcha think?

I did read Francine Rivers newest ( it is a series about 4 generations of ladies). All her novels are wonderful.

Ok, I'm Jen! I'm almost 39 years old, have been on sparkpeople on & off for several years. Hit a good stride & life sent some very serious challenges my way. Things are looking up now & I'm ready to be in control of my health for the first time in a very long time. I'm a mom to 3 incredible daughters 20, 18, & 16 and am crazy in love with my husband! We love to ride our motorcycle & spend lots of time on our boat! I'm an avid scrapbooker & pinterest fanatic! LOL

Have never really gotten the hang of the "teams/forums/topics/friends" on here & just kinda gave up on that aspect of this long ago. Knowing what I know, when I want to change something in my life...I have to turn to God. So, I'm turning to fellow Christians this time for support! I could use a buddy through this. My favorite scripture is PHIL 4:13...All things are possible through Christ, who strengthens me!" So, here we go!

Hi - My name is Lori and I am a 58 year old wife and mom from Staten Island, NY. I recently became unemployed, as the Catherine's where I worked was closed. I know God will open a new door when He sees fit. I am daily inspired by Joyce Meyer. She puts me on track each morning. I have been a member of Sparkpeople for a few years, and lost 25 lbs, but have fallen off the wagon numerous times and have gone back to almost where I originally started. I'm back now and ready to go the distance! With God behind me and the Holy Spirit in me how can I
(not) lose! emoticon
I look forward to the encouragement and insight of members in this group. Have a blessed day!

Hello everyone,

My name is Francia. I am 31 and in desperate need to lose weight. I started with Sparkpeople about two weeks ago, but began my weight-loss journey 3 weeks ago.

When I saw there was a Joyce Meyer team, I had to join. Joyce has inspired me to turn my spiritual life around and has help me become a better Christian.

My hope is that this team will help me in my journey and that with God's help, I can reach my goals.

To God be the glory.

I am 56 years old and desperately need to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. I am so happy to have found this team! I believe God has a purpose for my life--to take care of abandoned and homeless animals. I work in a large no-kill shelter for dogs. I want to get in better physical and emotional condition, both to glorify God and to be able to fulfill His call on my life. I know if I am not in good condition I can't continue to do rescue as I get older. Joyce Meyer has really inspired me in my walk with God. I have many of her DVDs, CDs and books. It also really inspires me the way she stays in good physical condition.

So glad to find a Joyce Meyer team on SparkPeople! I am 46 (nearly 47) and need to lose a total of 99 pounds. I started SparkPeople a couple weeks ago and am happy to say I am 8 pounds closer to my destination. My husband and I are longtime fans and supporters of Joyce, and I am looking forward to the inspirational discussions that I hope to take part in on this team. As I have heard her say a number of times: "I'm not where I ought to be, but thank God I'm not where I used to be!"

I love Joyce Myers; love her books, (she helped convince me of truth in the word being made flesh and alive in us). Its amazing how our lives have aligned in so many ways. She helped me understand a lot and helped me get over a lot of my past . I dont worship her, but Worship the G*d; she teaches of. I have read quite a few of her books...Beauty for Ashes, Battlefield of the Mind, The Secret Power of Speaking G*ds word, Confident Woman/ Devotional and other pamphlets. I love watching her TV classes every chance I get. She really has plugged into the word of G*D! And has helped me gain strength in my own faith. (Thank you Joyce)
susana

My favorite verse is Hebrews 13:5
"He (G*D) said to me, I will never leave thee nor forsake me"
Also found in many other books: Joshua 1: and Matthew and in the words of Jesus my Messiah!
I also love reading Sauls-Pauls Roman road!
Favorite verse in the New Testament is :Romans 8:1."There is therefore, NOW, no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.... but after the Spirit! My desire!
My favorites writer,j.myers /Charles calls.

Hi. Just found this team and glad I did because I am an avid reader of Joyce Meyer's books and also watch her show on tv most mornings. I am currently reading her book, I Dare You..Embrace Life with Passion, but I love so many of her books, especially Battlefield of The Mind. I have a tendency to get depressed but I find her to be so uplifting and so real, that I normally immediately feel better after reading some of her words on a daily basis. She really brings the Bible to life. Nice to meet you all. Nadine emoticon

My name is Amy, and I just joined. Joyce Meyer I find to be a really inspiring person. I love watching her show in the morning and reading her books, so much of what she says can be applied to loosing weight and sticking with it. How cool there is a team for this!

Hi, I'm Annie. I joined Spark People a short while ago but have changed from the maintenance version to the weight loss version today, and am on day 1 of my Fast Break fortnight. I was inspired by Joyce recently to become a person of purpose. Great to come across this team.

I'm so happy to find this group. I am 58 yr old, on Perm. Disability, and I live by myself in Iowa. I belong to a small, but growing church. I grew up in church, but didn't "get saved" until about 5 yrs ago. Still have alot of growing to do, spiritually. I'm sorry to confess that I have a false idol- and that would be food. I've been overweight most of my life, but, with God's help, I think I may be ready to end this addiction and start honoring the Holy Spirit's temple.

As Joyce says...I may not be where I want to be, but thank God I'm not where I used to be! I was fortunate enough to attend one of JOYce's conferences in 2006 (in DesMoines). It was everything I expected and MORE! I watch Joyce every weekday. My day is not complete without her.

Hello Everyone!
I'm new to Sparks and love what I've found so far. I am age 54 with 3 teen kids with special needs kids - aspergers/autism, reactive attachment disorder, learning disabilities. Two are adopted. All are awesome kids but often very challenging. I homeschool two of them and help hubby with business. I have been a chronic stress eater and have packed on 60 extra pounds that way. But, enough is enough! I am so tired of not fiting in my clothes and not being able to bend over! This is not the way God wants me to take care of my body. I have prayed that He lead me to enough support to stick with a weight loss and exercise plan. I love to listen to JM podcasts when I go out walking - just dont do it enough. She helps me stay sane. It;s amazing how my thinking and mood change after listening.

Hi, I don't know if I introduced myself yet so I'll do so now! My name is Liz. I'm 32, a single parent and by the grace of God am living and breathing and Lord willing going to lose weight. I am trying to not let it consume me though. I know that the Lord wants us to only look to Him for our satisfaction in life. So, Lord willing, He will continue to help me do that!
I live on a small farm with my parents. I like having chickens and pigs and dogs. I'm an animal person. I had to put my dog to sleep this spring. It was a horrible thing. But I thank God for it because my dog was helping me to be selfish. And I don't want to be selfish. I'll have to go into that some other time. I don't want this to be long.
So, there you have it in a nutshell!
Welcome new members and thank you to the old (or well seasoned) members for your wonderful prayers and encouragement!! You people are wonderful!

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body,"
1 Cor. 6:19-20

I am a whole-Bible Christian, looking into Hebrew roots and being grafted into the Israelite nation-as per Paul's recommendations. First Fruits of Zion's Hayesod study book clears-up a lot about what Paul was writing to various groups--not refuting the Scriptures that he knew, the first part of our Bible.

Hi, Just joined the team. Not new to SP and love Joyce Meyer and all her wisdom and sharing. My hubby & I watch her every morning. She is an inspriation to both of us. Dave is so much like Joyce was, so she always seems to have something he needs to hear or confirm. Has been a blessing for me and growing the the Lord.

Will be so glad to be part of this team emoticon emoticon

REMEMBER: I have had this before. I know what it tastes like, AND ITS KILLING Me ! IS IT REAL HUNGER OR HEAD & HEART HUNGER?
