Teresa... this thread is over 2 years old... the person who you are asking is no longer active on this team... nobody on this thread is active any longer.

Unless someone is subscribed to, or has previously commented on this thread, no one would even know you posted a question here. I only found it by accident because I'm always monitoring.

Additionally, this is the Introductions forum. If you have a current question, it is much better if you start a thread under the general discussion forum explaining what you are looking for and ask your question.

Dr. Jason Fung: "Holy consensus, Batman. With so many 'experts' from Michelle Obama to the USDA to virtually all of the medical professionals (including doctors and dieticians) agreeing that 'Eat Less, Move More' is the way to go, you might think that it is 100% unquestionably true. But here's a queer thought... if we all agree that we know the cure for obesity, and we've spent billions on educations and programs - why are we getting fatter? In other words, why does this 'cure' suck so bad?

I'm having sugar cravings sense I'm been trying Paleo, which isn't even normal for me. What is the sugar level suppose to be if I get one of those kits?

Hope the cravings will get less over time. If not it is possible that your blood sugar could still be a little on the high side even on a paleo diet. For me this was the case. I need to keep carbs under 30 grams/day or I will get higher than ideal blood sugar (over 100) and then if it drops under 80 I will feel very hungry, just because my body is used to higher blood sugar levels. I know this is not the diabetic forum, but for many people it really helps to get a diabetes test kit (Walmart is very affordable) and test for a while and then you know how many carb your body can handle. For me only tiny and occasional fruit servings work. Sweeter veggies like sweet potatoes and and other root veggies like carrots are also out except in tiny quantities.

Thanks for the input Birgit. I'm nailing the allowed foods (including the recommended fat intake) and it's not that I was really "hungry" as much as "crave-y" (it's a timing thing).

Ten more days to go...

If you quit now, you'll soon be back where you started. And when you started, you desperately wanted to be where you are now. DON'T QUIT!

If you feel that it's hard you may want to up your calories for the foods that are allowed. Not feeling hungry at all is important. Also, increasing fat calories as percentage of total calories may help.
You don't want to be in a situation where you need to rely on will power to succeed, we all run out of that eventually.

Yes. It is just a challenge to do basically strict Paleo.

There is the link. I need to be more strict on myself. It is definitely something I need to do!

It's Paleo but very strict Paleo I believe. I would love to do it, but I'm not quite there yet. I am on day 3 of getting back into a Paleo way of eating.

A "Paleo Lifestyle" would be a continuation of the Whole 30 Challenge.

Whole 30 is essentially trying a paleo-type diet for 30 days.

I don't know what Whole 30 is, but here's hoping that Paleo will get you to where you need to be..... Those auto-immune disorders can really slap you in the face, can't they....

Best wishes to you......

I can so relate!
Have been on a sugar free, low carb/calorie food plan since January.
This stuff really works!
Haven't felt this in 40 years!
Now it is time to add a few more carbs.
I am finding it a little challenging to do this.
That should be my biggest problem!

Welcome to the Paleo team!

Hey all. I just did a whole 30 challenge in June and upon getting news from a doctor that I have a rare auto immune disorder I have decided I need to adopt this lifestyle. I want to start off slow but hope to be as close to strict paleo as I can for my health. Hope to get support and ideas!
