Stacey, I'm sorry to hear about your broken toe. Hope it heals soon. I'm also rebuilding my fitness. I have a toddler and it can be difficult when I haven't had a good night.

I too worry about nuts. I have on average 24 almonds a day. Is this too much? I hear everyone referring to cutting back on nuts and fruit. At the moment I follow the two pieces of fruit/day of Whole30. Occasionally I have 1/3 cup cranberry and kiwi juice with sparkling water after dinner or lunch.

One thing that I still miss terribly is a cup of coffee. Perhaps a bowl of oats too. The rest I don't really miss to much.

Keep moving!

Tried to cut myself off nuts this week. The mix is in snack bags in the frig, put the macadamias in the freezer. Nearly worked, I only reached in the freezer two days. Normally I would have eaten the can by now.
Didn't eat the mix, so it was a better week, I feel smaller.

I have "Well Fed" also and I really like the recipes and approach. I haven't been trying too many new things, feeling a little in a rut. I think I have been eating too many nuts because my weight loss has stalled. I am past my 30 day mark, so I have been weighing weekly. I also broke a toe about 10 days ago and so haven't been getting to the gym. This is really depressing me, as I had gotten into a good routine. Hoping to get back to that soon.

Stacey, how is your recipe collection going?

It's been an interesting ride. I bought Well Fed and I also like Nom Nom Paleo indexed recipes. I made rice cauliflower this week otherwise I've been living on mash.

I've also managed to stay off the scale. I'll measure this Monday and I'll only weight on 30. I'm afriad I 'll loose the momentum if the scale is unkind.

What is the planned reward when you complete 30 days?

Thanks, sure it will be ok.
Wow, that is so cool you you are whole30ing.
We are packing a picnic.
Packing the dogs, food and headed to the Grand Canyon with DH driving, for a day trip.
He turned 62 and got his senior park pass. We get in for free, see the big hole, and have a picnic. One tank of gas in the Prius should do the trick for the day.
What a hoot.

Paste this in your browser. There are a lot of free reading links. It is just a stricter paleo for 30 days to get you started. You state you already feel better. Yeah
Some people might need the structure of the whole 30 for 30 days to kick some habits and give paleo eating a chance in your life. They say no sugar, grains, beans, legumes, dairy, or alcohol. There are shopping lists, pantry lists, meal planning and on and on. There are exceptions too and they especially want you to get rid of your scale.
I am in a challenge and have to weigh on Saturdays for a couple more weeks.

Hello! What's the Whole30? Who coined that phrase?
I might be doing it & not be aware!
I started Paleo on 10-25-12. On Day 8 and feeling great!
So, can you please tell me what the Whole30 is?
Thanks!
Jessica

I am constantly amazed at the food choices. I have lots of paleo cook books and everything imaginable is on the Internet.
Everything tastes so good. I don't salt either. Hubby still does and I think he is missing out on lots of flavor.

The 1st couple of days for me were the hardest. Then I fell into a better rhythm with it, and felt so much better. Toward the end I got a little bored with food choices, so now I am trying to build a recipe collection to make things easier!

I did a Whole30 as a way to kind of get used to the Paleo Diet in April 2012. It went great and I felt good. I have experimented a little here and there since but basically now I eat Paleo and I added back a limited amount of cheese, cottage cheese and greek yogurt-all of these full fat. I do have a little red wine now and then and a little dark chocolate. I stick mostly to meats, veggies , nuts and seeds (not a lot as fat loss is still a goal) and a little fruit (almost totally berries but right now grapes since they are so yummy in season). This is really working for me. I tried another Whole30 in August and realized why mess with something that's not broken. Oddly, when I gave up the dairy I got back some cravings for other way worse stuff so I didn't finish it.

Sweat is just your fat crying!

I am on day three and loving it. I was eating paleo a couple months except for a 1 1/2 week 4HB trial that did not agree with me.
Mostly I am doing it to be stricter for a while and be able to say I did.
I will definitely continue to eat paleo after this.
We took hubby off BP medications. A week of too low blood pressures twice a day.
He has been eating paleo since labor day and dropped 15.

emoticon I did a whole 30 in Aug. I really felt good. No joint pain, heartburn, etc. I reintroduced some dairy, as well and feel small amounts of good quality, raw if possible, is not a problem for me. I do notice a difference when I eat gluten. Unfortunately, I have really fallen off the wagon this week and I can feel it in my joints. Time to get back on plan.

I just joined this group a couple weeks ago. I have been on/off Sparks people for years.

I just completed my first Whole 30, overall I loved it. I felt better, more energy, heartburn and bloating disappeared by the 2nd day! I even lost 14.5 pounds, which was just a bonus after all the other things!

My plan now is to continue eating this way the majority of the time. I do want to add back in some dairy to see how I handle that. I really love good hard cheeses and greek yogurt.

What have other peoples experiences been after the Whole 30? How did you procede from there?

Stacey
