Welcome and hope you decide this is for you. I fell into Paleo from Atkins. I don't like the idea of using Franken foods to pretend you are eating what you crave. I use a bit of splenda, but that's about it. I feel better, lose weight and all the aches and pains of old age (hah!) are gone. It's a good lifestyle.

Welcome Lala! To get really great and complete information on Paleo/Primal living, be sure to check out robbwolf.com, marksdailyapple.com, chriskresser.com and balancedbites.com. All of those but Mark's Daily Apple also have stellar podcasts, with extensive archives to listen through. They have immeasurably enriched my knowledge not just of the paleo diet, but of healthy living in general.

I'm halfway to thin and fabulous. Just workin' on the "thin" part. :-D

Lily -
I am newer and am not any type of expert, but... I have had some interesting experience in the last three months. I live with my adult daughter who was not very supportive on my first attempt at the 30 day trial. But on the second attempt she at least began to not sabotage my efforts. In between the first foray and second, I realized a lot of aches & pains that I did not even think about went away. I knew that I felt better, but I couldn't put my finger on it. I am not 100% loyal, but work hard at it. This past Saturday I was blessed to watch my niece and new nephew marry, then to the reception. The only thing Paleo there would have been water! So I joined in. I did not eat anything after 6 pm. By 6 am I could not stay out of the bathroom more than 20 minutes. My body could not get that food out of my system fast enough! So I was back on board Sunday afternoon, and this has passed!
All in all, I am sold on this experiment and see it as a life style change due to the improved well being I feel, and the small (18#) weight loss. Feeling better physically and emotionally are so worth it. And I can't say I miss stuff I am not eating. Though I did fight a cannoli battle for over a week and won!
So long post to say, jump in! The change could well be worth it!

Hi everyone!

My name is Lily and I have really struggled with losing this weight. I have been on this site following my recommended calories most of the time and working out pretty much religiously and just haven't been impressed with the results. I am getting more and more interested in the paleo diet, although I haven't taken the plunge yet.

I just wanted to introduce myself really emoticon

They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts."
