Funny, my crossfit box just had a forum about fasting versus eating right after workouts today actually. This is what our trainer had to say. It could be different since Crossfit is such a hign intensity sport that uses a wide range of muscles and also breaks them down, but running and biking breaks them down as well.

Now their is some Science that intermittent fasting helps move metabolism BUT noone should fast until they do paleo for 2-3 months. Serious damage can happen if people fast to soon.
My recommendation Is to have a good quality protein after a workout. I am researching whey protein that is more available to the body. We will be looking at about time whey, biotics whey and progenix whey to have t the gym.
If you can't do whey it's fish or egg whites.
Now as for the carb. Robb wolf have a different opinion. He thinks no high sugar post workout. So let's continue this topic.
Everyone should see fat loss just by crossfitting and eating Paleo. If they are not they need to come see me and I need to see what they are eating.
Any athlete must eat post WOD to repair the damage and recover in order to wake up and do if again md balance blood sugar.

Below is the link she is referring to. I eat right after WODs because I am on pain pills for my knee injury and get really sick if I don't, also because I can't imagine not eating. When I ran I needed at least GU every hour or so. Fasting wouldn't work for me, and since I am involved in not 1, but 3 high intensity sports I think eating after workouts is best for my recovery, and during once I get back to running and biking. www.livingpaleo.com/post-workout-nu
