I lost my last 10 in about a month too, strictly avoiding all grains, legumes, dairy and nuts. I have psoriasis and most of those things aggravate an outbreak. Every year around Feb-Mar I start to get the signs of an outbreak, so that was my motivation to remove them from my diet, that's what I attribute my quick loss to.

Now when I have a little dairy or more fruit than normal, I can expect to see about 1-3 of those pounds for a few days. If you go strict to lose the weight but then ease those foods back in, don't be surprised if you see a few pounds return. But maybe you'll be one of the luck ones who doesn't react as much to those foods. Good luck!

I'd think fried shrimp every night might not be great, but one night? Hardly!

I believe that the success comes from the big overall trend of eating real foods and crowding the plate with things that aren't addictive, but wonderfully delicious and satisfying. I lost my last 10 within a month, to answer your question. I've heard of others taking longer... and the "last 10" begs the question, doesn't it? Should it be the last 10 if you have a great, healthy lifestyle, feel great, and it just doesn't go for whatever reason? How to determine that number? As a teenager and college student, I maxed out at 110 pounds. I consider 115 about ideal for me now--I've got much stronger arms and I've just filled in nicely as a 46 year old rather than the hyper college kid.

Thank you for the encouraging words everyone! Based on your experiences, how long did it take you to lose the last 10 pounds? I'm hoping that my body shape will slim down a bit before July rolls around!

Also, did you guys do strictly Paleo? I am not eating any bread, oatmeal, rice, or other such grains. But tonight I had some fried shrimp. I'm thinking the batter was most likely flour...Not sure. Will this set me back any? Once again, thank you so much for the kind words!

It worked for me with my last 10 pounds too! I eat protein (lean and not) and use oils or butter with my veggies. I lost the last 10 when I finally gave up dairy (except the butter and a little half and half in my coffee). I eat nuts and starchy vegetables like sweet potatoes sparingly. No increase in exercise for me, actually a decrease. I went from training for a half marathon (4 to 6 to 10 miles per day) to Zumba 3x per week only. I'm happy as a clam now :) LOL

It worked for me with "the last 10" and I was not even TRYING for the last 10. I'd kind of stopped worrying about that last 10, and actually just adopted this lifestyle to help my daughter and my diabetic friend. I was just along for the ride. Now I'm an ideal weight for me. Did NOT increase my hours of exercise, but refocused on the "Primal Movements" instead of trying to get the 50 minutes of running each day.

I'm eating all I want to, feel way better, and took care of long-standing health problems I didn't realize were directly associated with my diet. I'd thought I was a very healthy eater. I'd say you should give it a sincere go for 21-30 days so you can judge it properly. Good luck!

emoticon People's results vary, and there is also a lot of tweaking that can be done with nutrient ratios if it isn't working for you. Hopefully it will work for you!

I've been a member of Spark People for about a year. I've lost about 20 pounds last summer, which I am very excited about!! I didn't do any special diet to lose those pounds. I just tracked my calories and exercised.

I have/would like to lose about 10 more pounds. Once I lose another 10 pounds, I will be right in the middle of the healthy weight range for my height. I've been trying since February to lose these last 10 pounds.....My weight has NOT budged(I ate exactly like how my nutritionist told me to. Lots of whole grains, lean protein, fruit, veggies). I did exercise as well.

Needless to say, I am SO frustrated. I stumbled upon the Paleo/Primal diet a week ago, and immediately there was just something about it that seemed "right". So I bought "The Primal Blueprint" book from the store, and I started eating Primal yesterday. I'm going cold turkey with the grains. I might use dairy(butter only, no milk), but I will make sure it is grass fed. As for the meat, I am not currently able to get grass fed meat. I just really hope that this works out! I guess my question is.....does the Paleo/Primal lifestyle help those who are looking to just lose the last couple of pounds? About how long does it take to see results?
