A very big welcome! You're gonna like it here. :)

I'm making positive changes with confidence in 2012
Welcome to the team! I have been eating this way since August of 2011 and I can't imagine EVER going back. I love this lifestyle.
Keep up the good work. When your family sees how happy you are and how good you feel (it will only get better) maybe they will join you. It worked that way for my family. It only took a week for my 17 year-old son. It took a few months for the hubby to jump on board.

It is hard to stay away from some things, but it is possible! Keep trying!
Welcome! I'm glad you're dedicated to making good lifestyle choices. Paleo (and versions thereof) is definitely "it"! You already know how much better it makes you feel. That should be your "proof" - nevermind how your housemates make their choices. You know the ones best for you.
It's well-founded, scientifically. It addresses more than just weight loss, although it's been great for that in my case. I'm not diabetic, but our endocrinologist (most of whose patients are diabetic) prescribes his version of the diet for all his patients.
I'm one of those who has a difficult time with breakfast. Instead of trying to eat a big load of food when I first get up, I start with a low-carb milkshake. Right now I'm mixing my own from Designer Whey in either coconut milk or 50% almond milk. It's some pretty yummy stuff, IMO. I do love eggs and bacon, and will sometimes eat a breakfast meal at dinnertime. With this nutritional regime, I hardly get hungry during the day; usually I only eat 2 meals a day. I'm still struggling with my carb addiction, but it gets easier all the time. Either that or I'm just getting better at telling myself "no"! lol
You will definitely find plenty of support and personal experiences here. It's a great community. We're glad to have you join us.
Oh, and BTW, if you haven't seen the postings, there's a Paleo summit online coming up beginning this Sunday. It's free, and many of the big names in the field will be taking part. All you have to do is register. I believe that website is
Maybe you could even get some of your family members to check it out. Couldn't hurt to try!

Welcome! Yes, if you focus on having really great food, that oatmeal will just seem blech! Try some of the delightful breakfasts. Here are a couple I have that are easy:
- scrambled eggs, steamed broccoli, berries
- empty out a tomato and drop and egg in and bake for 25 min at 425. Crumble bacon on top. That takes more time but it's crazy good!
- Leftovers work great for breakfast. I've eaten a porkchop. Helps you get through leftovers without wasting them!
Good luck. I look forward to hearing about how it's going for you on these boards and your blog!

Don't mind the lady with the baby, I'm sleep deprived and my words may not make sense. Even this section almost didn't. lol
Paleo is wonderful. This has been the easiest to maintain lifestyle EVER!!!
You might want to take a look at Dr. Wahls' diet, too. She cure MS with Paleo.

Hi Erisea, you sound like me LOL. I know you can do it. It is for you, I feel by sticking to my guns even tho my hubby eats chips, chocolate and soda on the couch next to me and I refuse to eat it, .....means I am taking care of me. I need to love and take care of myself or my life is over or at least the quality is yuk. So I choose to live an not just live but be alive while I am living on this earth. What you eat will determine the quality of life you will have. GOOD FOR YOU!! I know you will do it. Tell yourself every morning, "Every choice I make for myself today will be the best choice"
Looking for a buddy near Foster City or San Mateo CA.
Hi Everyone! Yay! Paleo is just the way I want to eat. A little background about me: I have been overweight most of my life, tried all sorts of diets and lost and gained back, repeat over and over. I have been reading about Paleo and Primal for about a year but haven't fully committed before now. In January I did 15 days strict Paleo and felt awesome! Then I read some things somewhere that said people were leaving Paleo and couldn't sustain it. So I of course listened to those few instead of all the wonderful research out there about how good this lifestyle is for you. I tried a few grains here and there. Felt horrible, battled with myself and went back and forth for a few weeks. Talk about messing up the body. I got heartburn back, leg cramps, and headaches. Just felt crappy. Ate mostly paleo yesterday then had oatmeal for breakfast today. So not a good idea. I got this sugar rush, heartburn, headache and stomach cramps. I was also STARVING before 10:00 AM! That sucks! So that's it. I'm doing this no matter what. I feel better, I know I will lose the weight. I won't be hungry. It will be hard at home as I have a husband and 3 teens who don't get this way of eating and won't try it. So I still have to buy some of the grains and stuff for them. But I will succeed! I need some support and motivation from others who are eating this way also. Hope I can get to know some of you.
