I'm on day 6 of Paleo, I think. So far, so good. I'm mainly doing it because honestly, unless I go low-carb, I don't lose weight and for health reasons.
Good luck to all of us!

Hello All today is my first day on Paleo, and opps I have got it wrong already. I thought a nice cesear salad was an easy option for lunch.
But argh it came already with dressing, cheese (only a little bit and crootons so ops the only paleo part was the lettuce and bacon.
As I settle in I will start making lunches at home so that I don't hit these little problems or think to say hold the dressing ! I forget these thing often just get added !
I'm basicially here to loose weight and get more active so here goes !

Hi there! I'm Leslie and I've been Paleo for almost 2 years now (started Memorial Day 2012). I was really good about it and stayed on track for the first year...but the last 9 months or so I've been off and on, off and on. I eat Paleo for health reasons - turns out my body gets really mad at me when I eat gluten, dairy, soy and other legumes...and recently found out I'm allergic to eggs (SO SAD, but have gotten used to that over the past 2 months). So after some recent weight gain and a mini freak out (or maybe it was a major freak out) about my weight and fat% going up up UP, I am back on the Paleo bandwagon, and have decided to track calories until I get to my goal weight/fat%. I may not be super-active on the boards, but glad to be here anyway.

Hey there! I am new to the team. I just finished a Whole30 challenge yesterday. My plan is to continue to eat the Paleo way to see if this will help get rid of the daily headaches I have had for over 8 years. Many tests have been run, all coming back negative and I have tried many meds that don't work. I'm willing to give anything a shot at this point. I'm also wanting to get healthier and eat better so hopefully the Paleo diet will help me achieve those goals. I am loving the extra energy and other results so far after the 30 days. Now I just need to stick to it.

I have decided that tomorrow I am beginning the Whole 30. I tried Paleo at the beginning of January and had dropped like 6 pounds in a week but then went on vacation and gained it all back. Now I am ready to make it a lifestyle. I am commited to the 30 days!

Hi, I am new to the team. I joined because I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2009. My health and mobility have dramically decreased. I recently came across several articles and studies recommending a Paleo diet for MS and other autoimmune diseases.

Hello- My name is Kate, and I decided to experiment with the Paleo lifestyle for the month of February. I am diabetic, and take oral meds. I was under control, but something changed and I have had really high fasting blood sugar for the past week. I am hoping that this change will affect my blood sugar control. I have been on spark since 2012, and have lost a ton of weight, I gain it back whenever I step off program, I am thinking I need a more permanent solution. I was eating one carb, one meat a day, with the rest being fruit and vegetables, but fell off program pretty regularly. I have high cholesterol, and take meds for this. Am curious about the amount of animal protein and my cholesterol levels. I love dairy, and this will be hard for me. I have IBS, and have a doctor recommended regime of yogurt, oral priobiotics, and benefiber, which is made form wheat. Not sure if this regime fits a paleo lifestyle.

My doctor told me about the paleo diet....I need to eat that way with a few other limitations.......with a few health issues, she said that in 6 months I should be off the meds. I have been doing paleo since Sept. 2013. I have lost 24 pounds. Looking forward to sharing tips and ideas with spark 's.....

I just started my Paleo lifestyle today. My mom has been strictly Paleo (Duke University version step 1) since October and has lost over 30 pounds. I have several short term goals to help me stay motivated (swimming with dolphins next month with one son, and Scout camp this summer with two of my sons), and a long term goal of being healthier and happier for my active family. I look forward to this journey.

Hi, I am Beth and today is my first day of the paleo lifestyle. Some weight loss would be a nice side effect but I am mainly in it for health benefits. I am in my mid-30's. I was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance two years ago so I have been eating gluten free since then. I also have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue issues. A gluten free diet plus some supplements keep me feeling pretty good but I feel there's room for improvement. I don't want to take any prescriptions. I have read that a paleo diet can help fibromyalgia a lot.
Happy to be here!

Aloha Paleo Peeps
Since becoming PALEO, i have nothing but high praises for this eating lifestyle, HOWEVER, there are certain aspects of this regimen that i cannot adhere too because of personal preference s of foods that i enjoy since childhood. So calling me a true Paleo head? i dont care
However, the elimination of carbs, by that i mean starch based ones like white potatoes and pasta, i will never look back on that as it means nothing to me now. i sub it with zucchini "pasta" which is by far the best move i have made since i love anything that is noodle based, and also am experimenting with making sweet potatoes into "pasta".
To all PALEO members here, i look forward to networking with you and also to hare tips and ideas to improve this eating lifestyle. have a great day!

Hi there. New to this group and new to paleo, for the most part. I won't be able to follow it to a T though. I depend on what they cook at work for dinner to save money and they use butter so a little dairy will be in my diet. At least for now until I'm able to shop for my own dinners. I've been on sparkpeople off and on for a while now. Starting over now, stopped tracking food, stopped exercising, gained weight, etc. So, I'm back on the wagon and extra motivated. I'm newly single and want to look good for when I'm ready to start dating.

Hi. I'm new to this group although not to Spark.
I have never tried Paleo, but I tried Atkins and was very sick within 3 days. (And yes, I was drinking lots of water.) However, I do know I need to double my veggies and I've always had trouble making the protein requirements in my Spark nutrition tracker, so I've got to up the meat too.
I have IBS and I find I HAVE TO have at least some starch if I'm eating anything with fat in it. So I guess I'll have to do a modified version, somehow. I've no problem with giving up baked goods, but I need a little rice or something to help with the fats. I have the IBS under "reasonable" control with probiotics and watching which kind of fats I eat, but I still find I can't go without starch completely.

All went well,15 days in hospital( he is 88) so then after thanksgiving, i was exhausted, not sleeping, bronchitis got to me. In bed all through xmas. & just beginning to slow down the coughing. I did buy many paleo cook books, & there is lots of reading & studying Head. Slowly i will break the weight loss barrier, once i can begin to walk on the gazelle i need hints for sure. I tried several recipes.i have put aside iin a garage pantry, the grains, rice, beans, etc. NOW my fresh foods, fruits, protein will be the way. 70% vegs.& fruits, protein, & herbal teas w/ lemon might help. How about 1 cup of decaf?

I'm Christie and have been with Sparkpeople since Jan 2007. I've followed Mark Sisson's Primal Blueprint off and on for about 9 months and need to commit for 30 days to give it a chance. I'm addicted to sugar/carbs and no matter how much protein and fat I eat, I'm still hungry. I'm hoping that if I don't give up after 5 days-like I usually do, that this will go away.
Happy New Year!

Hi! I'm Lindsey from SW MO and I'm starting my Whole30 today! My husband and I eat healthy off and on. I've been a member of Sparkpeople for way too long to still be overweight.
I found the Whole30 diet and decided to give 30 days to this Paleo thing and see how it works out. The cheese will probably be the toughest part. Bread has already been a limited part of my diet and mentally I've been prepared to let it go for a long time. Physically may be a different story though.
Wish me luck!

If I knew about what the Paleo (caveman) diet really was~ I would have been here last (well ) 2 years ago. The only thing I do do on the Paleo is I eat eggs/egg white. Not bad for a start huh? My stomach I'll keep now, but as I go on Food Intolerance's are my foe.
Ragweed...foods that are in the Daisy/Birch Tree and another one I don't remember. Foods fruit baring in the spring and fall. Berries/pumpkin So what is this? To give you an idea no fruit nor vegetables which contains small seeds. Squash, melons, banannas, berries, cucrumbers. also in the daisy family..spinach, swiss chard, beet greens. Some herbal teas including Chamomile is in the rag weed family.
I eat lettuces, red meat, oh man! cheeses, onion/garlic. I cheat by eating red/yellow peppers.
lots of luck everyone. happy New Year.

Hello, I'm Jessica. My reasons for being healthy include:
~Feeling better, having more energy, sleeping better ~Looking better, feeling stonger, being able to do more of what I want to do (backpacking, hiking, swimming etc.) ~Being the healthiest I can be, to prepare to have kids some day
I'm hoping the Paleo diet will help me do that. It makes sense to me, and is easy for me to remember. Eat human food. Not synthetic crap. Got it. I'm open to helpful suggestions and encouragement! Thanks for letting me join your group!

My name is Allison. I have just finished reading The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain and visited plenty of paleo websites, blogs, etc. I am really excited about this way of eating (kids and hubby not so much) and paleo makes so much sense. I am going paleo tomorrow along with a new workout plan. I have a weight loss goal date of June 1st. This is when we plan to take our children on a vacation that will require me to be in a bathing suit with photo evidence. ;-D Looking forward to being part of this Spark Team.

I've been following the Paleo lifestyle since February of 2013. My son got engaged back then and I wanted to lose weight before the marriage. Since I had tried just about every diet in the book but low carb with only moderate success I thought the time had come to give Paleo a go. With all the other diets I experienced hunger and cravings and would eventually give up and go on feeding binges. But eating Paleo is very different for me. I could write a long list of all the benefits I've experienced but we're on Sparks people so I'll just list one. I lost 50 pounds with little effort. But it worked a little too well!. Once I bought my mother of the Groom dress I had to try and maintain my weight. This was trickier than I thought and sweets started entering my food list. The wedding took place at the end of november so now it's time to get back on track.

Good morning everyone!!
I'm Gabby, a 22 year old living in TN but grew up in MA.I stumbled upon the Balanced Bites podcast a few days ago, and fell in love! I've always thought paleo was interesting and wanted to try it but always gave up on myself. Listening to this podcast has solidified this choice for me. I'm very new to doing this but I have researched it a lot in the past couple years. My husband has offered to enter this journey with me so hopefully he will stick to it too.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi guys! My name is Faith and I am going to be starting my Paleo journey Monday! I just heard about the Paleo lifestyle through robinssweetconfessions.com where she gives a 30 day challenge with a 30 day menu and complete daily routine for 30 days and after reading so many success stories I have got to try it! I have IBS, which is pretty gross and causes a TON of pain and discomfort in my intestines and stomach pretty much every single day. I have struggled with this for a long time now and have tried different diets even well balanced diets instructed by a dietitian with no success at fixing the problem. SOOO Paleo, here I come! I'm REALLY looking forward to not being in pain and feeling so much better! And I'm SO glad I found this group so I will have some support through this journey!

Hi Everyone, I'm back to paleo after wandering a bit. Realized the joint pain was creeping back into my hips and hands so that was clear evidence to me that this really helps with inflammation.
When I did paleo last time, I have to say that I didn't have a remarkable weight loss, but I felt much better, slept sounder, and my skin looked really good. I did ditch grain, but I probably ate too much fruit, in retrospect.
Glad to have some proof from my own experience that this is the way to eat for me! Good luck everyone. Fran

My name is Christina. I did the "Paleo Diet" two summers ago and successfully lost 30 lbs. While I have done fairly well keeping it off, I need to continue my weight loss journey. I have been following the "Primal Blueprint" book using the 21 day challenge book. As long as I am aware of the number of fruits I eat daily and avoid grains, I feel a lot better physically and lose weight.
I know that the foods available today aren't truly paleo, but this is the healthiest lifestyle and most reasonable look at why I put on weight in the first place. I just need to keep going.
Please send some support as I still have 99 lbs to lose (just got under 100lbs !)

I am just getting started going Paleo. I have been diagnosed with leaky gut as well as being obese. I have tried all the other diets and found it impossible to stick with them because of my cravings. Cravings are now being associated with what I eat. Bread is really bad for me as it just increases my cravings. Sugar as well is a problem but not as much as the bread.
I want to also try my hardest to go organic as much as possible. Since I live alone, the meat portion will not be so bad (as if I had a family) so I found a local store that sells some really good local organic meat, veggies, fruits. Yay. I am taking this slowly - just cutting out grains for now. Once used to that, will tackle the other things that give me my problems.

Just wanted to introduce myself. I live in Florida, 82 years young, widowed and have a loving, caring family and friends and church friends.
I have been going to a chiopractor (Naturually), and I have arthiritis, I have been told to try the Mediterrian Diet. Is Paleo near this? If I am in the wrong group, please let me know as I need to eat right to help get my BP, kidneys balanced, arthiritis better. Hoping to hear some information, and results, and after church I will go through and read the success stories.
Hoping to get some good advice, I am open for corrective critizism.

Hi! My username is Et Oyeblikk and I am week 4 on paleo, I am actually quite enjoying all the new recipes. I have stuck to it 90% of the time because 10% of the time I have not been prepared before I go out for the day. Hi I'm Laura! I've been changing my lifestyle to Paleo since early June 2013 and have been eating strict since September. I feel great! I've almost lost 20 lbs in that time and my energy levels are off the charts. I've been researching Paleo throughout this time and it just makes sense. More than anything else I've tried and I fully plan on sticking to it for the rest of my life. The amazing thing so far is that I don't crave grains at all. That was one of my main excuses for not making the switch sooner. I can't wait to read forums and chat with everyone who shares my love for Paleo.

Hey Everyone! I'm Ashley I've been doing the Paleo thing now for about 2 weeks Id say I'm at about 80% Paleo currently. I have about 80lbs Id like to loss through proper diet and exercise. I have lost weight in the pass severely restricting calories and fat which led me to lose 60lbs but I then regained it all back within 2 years :( So I realized I needed to find a healthier way to lose the weight and this time its not just about the weight its about how my body and mind feel along the way as well. I have done alot of research through talking with various people and online, and even my doctor and it has brought me to where I am today! I'm currently on day 15 and have lost 8lbs and have never SLEPT BETTER IN MY LIFE!! The first 4 days where rough I had alot of hot flashes which I think was due to the sugar detoxing. Other then that I feel awesome and continue too, I stopped calorie counting and obsessing over the scale as well I eat 3 great meals a day and rarely feel the need to snack in between which is HUGE for me! Originally I started this with the thought of doing it for 40 days but now I've come to the conclusion this is not something I want to do for x amount of days this is a lifestyle and a gamer changer for me! Its not only making my body feel better ( Use to have some stomach troubles but never knew why but since starting this I've definitely have had nearly as many issues) Sure I'm probably going to eat a piece of pizza at some point or a piece of toast and instead of beating myself up over it and starving myself for the rest of the day I'm going to fess up to it and move ON!! But honestly so far I havent felt the need to cheat sure I miss but I think its mental more then anything! Now if I want a treat I blend up some frozen bananas and almond milk and dive in :)

Hi, everyone! My name is Patricia, and after a LONG absence, I'm returning to SparkPeople in hopes of losing weight and counter-acting some of the effects of my Hashimoto's disease. In the recent past, I've found that only by cutting out the grains can I lose weight. But it's a huge life-style change for me, and I've been able to do only months at a time. Thanks to continuously falling off the wagon, I am at my highest weight ever. But I'm now rededicating myself to total physical transformation. And I plan on using the paleo diet to help get me back on track to a healthier, fitter, and slimmer version of me. Looking forward to being part of the group! ~ Pat

Hi I am brand new to this concept. Just read a kindle free book about the diet and am ready to start. I have put on 40 lbs in the last 5 years and am ready to lose it and for a change. I need to get a lean body so I can do more and be there for my 2 little girls. I look forward to making some changes to my lunch and dinner and change my breakfast as well. I'm still going to eat carbs in the morning but that's just because I cannot eat bacon and eggs every day. Otherwise I will get rid of the junk and stay with the healthy. I guess I'm looking at a modified form of this diet.

I'm Lola. A little bit about me: I'm a 28 year old mother of one. I am in my last semester of graduate school and am about to start an exciting new job in California. I weigh 130lbs and 5'6". On the surface I look pretty healthy. I have a dark secret though: I am completely addicted to candy, sugar and refined carbohydrates. Even worse, I've realized that my daughter has this same addiction. In addition to our sugar/carb addiction, we also love any vegetable and protein.
As I approach 30, I have realized that my dietary choices are really starting to impact my health. My skin looks horrible and I have a little tiny tummy that wont go away no matter how much exercise I do. I'm gonna give this diet an honest go. Hopefully both my life and my daughter's life will improve.

Hello! My name is Jess. I've actually been eating (mostly) Paleo for almost two years now. In fact, eating Paleo is what led me to getting my celiac diagnosis. How much better I felt (and how much worse I felt when I ate things that were contaminated) got me to get myself checked out.
Health is very important to me because as a massage therapist and a Traditional Chinese Medicine student, I have to be a good example to my patients. I try to stay fit and eat well, and the Paleo diet is one of my favorite ways I've found over the years to do so.

Hi everyone! I'm Kat. I've been interested in the paleo diet for quite some time now, but I have yet to make a big effort for it. I'm excited to see what happens though, and I'm looking forward to meeting you all!

New to the Paleo Team. I have tried paleo for all of maybe 3 days several months ago. I am currently doing a modified paleo diet. Unfortunately, I am allergic to most fish and don't live in an area that offered grass fed meats. I do it minimal servings of dairy because I don't feel very well without it. So I would say it is a mix of South Beach and paleo. But I am very interested in new recipes and overall experiences with this diet. Thanks!
Hi All! My name is Daisy and I am cautiously stepping in! I am at my highest weight in a long time, and feeling generally awful on a daily basis. In the past I have tried and been successful with Atkins and 17 Day Diet, both of which focus on lower carbs, however I always hit a wall. And of course I gained all the weight back. In general I avoid breads and grains much of the time, but have never limited/eliminated dairy. I have two kids, a mom and a sister who all are lactose intolerant, so I suspect this may be part of my problem. Either way I am already feeling a bit better with one day in (I know it's early but I do know this way of eating tends to agree with me). I did my first half marathon in the spring, and gained weight throughout even though I ate whole grains and healthy foods and watched portion sizes. This told me that my body needs a change. Although I have failed/quit in the past, this time I am taking things one day at a time, knowing that if I don't get healthy, I'll continue to feel physically ill. So here I am looking forward to being a part of this group! :)

Hello I have been doing mostly Paleo since May 1, 2013. I am down 12 #, however I have 20 more to go. I have researched Paleo info all over the internet. I think I might have gotten myself confused, (go figure sorry for the pun). I just want to find a plan and rules that I can live by but most of all that I understand. I am on this plan per my doctor. I am menopausal big time. I have about 8 hot flashes during the day and about 6 sweaty hot flashes during the night. I was laid off two years ago so it is a good thing I am not working I would never make it through the work day. I am taking a lot of meds for the menopause. I just want to feel myself again. I can can't I?

My name is Lori and I recently joined SP. I was first introduced to the paleo way of eating through my crossfit group and have since doing a lot of reading/research about paleo eating. I'd say currently I eat paleo about 70% of the time and am actively trying to get that more towards 90% of the time. I thought joining this team and getting to know others who eat the same way would be helpful!
Looking forward to getting to know you all!

HI Everyone. my name is Vicky and I started yesterday to ease into Paleo and or clean eating. I have needed to lose 100 lbs since I had my last child in '99. I am in peri-menopause and not liking the potbelly it has created. All my girls are on their own now and it is just my son and I.
My son has PDD and doesn't like alot of food but I am hoping he will like what I am eating some of the time. So I am looking forward to learning more and seeing the changes happen.
I have subscribed to the Daily Apple and PaleoIQ.

Hi, my name is Brenda. I am from Wild Wonderful West Virgina. I am new to Paleo eating. I have an old friend that I found again on FB she eats paleo and works out with crossfit and looks awesome, she has really inspired me.
I am a carb junkie, I know I do well on a low carb style of eating but fell off and slowly worked my way back to eating mainly carbs. After a lifequake, I am now alone which I love but I hate cooking a full meal just for myself so it's time to learn to start cooking again. Grazing and piecing have put back on all the weight I lost plus some. I now have around 100 pounds to lose.
I've made myself a cheat sheet to hang on the fridge for quick reference of what is allowed and what is not. (the guidelines do not seem that hard to understand) It is close to some other low carb diets but I like the simpler format of it.
Now to keep myself accountable and begin a new path.
Any helpful suggestions or tips? I'd love to hear them

Hi! My name is Tracy. I am new to the Paleo lifestyle. I was told this week that I should go Paleo. I am carb intolerant which really sucks! I love my carbs. I should have know that I was carb intolerant when I was diagnosis at the age of 30 with diabetes. I have struggled with diabetes for almost 13 years.
I have tried Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, HCG drops, juicing (missed the chewing) and etc. I don't think there is a diet that I have not tried. I am very hopeful with going on the Paleo diet. I am still trying to figure it all out. Any recommendation or suggestion would be awesome!
My goal is to lose the weight and get control of my health. This goal has been the same goal for all of my diets I tried in my life. I am working on the realization that this is not a diet but a lifestyle change!

I have been eating Paleo about a month now and am working through the digestive issues. I am very happy with how my body feels and the way the weight is coming off.
