I am officially closing this thread!

I have noticed that very few current team members respond to new members... I suspect because they are not subscribed to this thread, or notifications get dropped.

Now, each new member will start a new thread, thus (in theory) creating a greater likelihood that more members will get notification, and will respond to new members!

Thanks for your cooperation!

I think paleo will be a really good fit with your mindset, Jenny!

If you want to understand paleo better right now, go in to the START thread (second sticky topic under the general discussion forum). There are number of really good resources to get you started... books, podcasts, and team threads on all things paleo. Just please don't post to that thread. If you have questions either start a new thread, or drop into 'Chew the Fat'.

I, too, use the scale as information. It is a great tool for helping to diagnose food sensitivities. This past weekend I was obviously exposed to something at a party that I was not aware off... I gained five pounds literally overnight... not that I needed the scale to tell me that one. My hands were swollen and oh so sore. My inflammatory response shows up first as water weight.

So, glad to have you on the team, and to see that you're making yourself at home!

Sweet dreams!

Thank you Ramona! I saw you guys talking about the challenge, just didn't know what it was. I have found my body tends to hold on to weight if I'm not eating enough calories, so I think I obsess about that and eating this way my change that. Right now I am eating when I am hungry, but trying to stay with the basic guidelines I have "figured" out? LOL

I can already see a difference. The area just below the bra line will get more fatty first, and it's already gone down a little. That makes me happy! I try not to focus on the number on the scale and how it relates to my mood, but rather as a guideline to ensure what I am doing is moving me in the direction I want to go. I "officially" weigh on monday mornings. I know I can fluctuate all week, and I am finally getting ok with that.

Thank you for telling me about the SUBS section. Will be looking into that tomorrow (it's getting late here!).

Welcome, Jenny!

You and your food allergies are in good company on this team, LOL! Most of us who are currently active have chosen paleo because of health issues. We talk A LOT about how to juggle paleo ideas to fit our own specific situations. You may want to start with the SUBSTITUTIONS thread for some ideas.

Most people eating paleo ignore the food tracker, LOL. Some people customize their tracker to reflec a more paleo profile. A typical paleo nutrition plan for weight loss stays below 75 grams of carbs a day... if you're insulin resistant, then below 50 grams is even better. Beyond that, most people don't worry a bunch about calories. A long as you are getting enough fat, and moderate protein, the weight will take care of itself.

Instead of worrying about the scale, I'd encourage you to take measurements and pictures. They are the best indication of how you are doing. Weight can fluctuate dramatically for so many reasons that have nothing to do with actual fat loss.

Finally, we are going to start a 40-day Shades of Paleo LIFESTYLE Challenge on Feb 1st. The focus is developing our own sustainable paleo plan one small step at a time. I hope you'll join us!

If you have any other questions, come join us on the 'Chew the Fat' thread... it's never boring and always informative!

new here, and a few questions! LOL I have a lot of food allergies, so overall eating anything can be a .. challenge. Eating "too many" and "too few" calories can be a challenge for me as well. Do you count any things (like calories, carbs, fats, proteins), cuz you know, putting your nutrition stuff into the tracker looks really whonky.

I can say that I haven't lost anything yet (just 3rd day doing it! lol) but TOM did come yesterday, and the area just below my bra line isn't sticking out as much, like I have lost an inch or so. I am not going to stress about the weight loss, just trying to figure out how to eat like this. I found Paleo probably works best for my allergies (whole foods, organic meats, etc), and found the Wild Diet. Now to change my mindset, I guess.

Hello Everyone. I am new here and I am ready to commit to the next Paleo challenge. I've been struggling for awhile trying to follow the so called "balanced diet?" to lose weight. Well, it just does not work for me so here I am. I started eating Paleo last week and I think this type of eating will be easier for me and I really believe I will be successful. I want to lose 40 pounds. I have been lurking for awhile and I finally think I got my head straight now and I am ready to jump in. Looking forward to this journey with all of you here.

I and my family have been Paleo (Autoimmune & SCD) for 4.5 years now, and it's the best things we could have done for our family! What a great thing to have a project you and your husband can both n vest in... I have to say, without a doubt, it has forged a new bond between my husband and I.

Hello Everyone

My name is Tina and I finally decided to focus on myself since I have been neglecting it for so long. My youngest left for college last fall and after spending a few months feeling sorry for myself, I am now ready to see the real me in the mirror again.

I studied Nutritional Sciences in college and there aren't too many diet books that I haven't read. After doing a lot of research about Paleo, I have been slowly implementing this lifestyle. Once I change over completely, I plan to encourage my husband to follow in my footsteps. He would be open to it except he is addicted to processed snack foods and diet soda!!!!!

I am a work in progress and hope to find inspiration here.

Hi Guys, I'm 48 yrs old and I've been on the Wild Diet food plan for just over a week. I have lost 5 lbs so far and I don't find it too hard to manage. However, is it a big deal to eat regular grocery store meats and vegetables instead of pasture fed beef and organic vegetables.

Hi everyone,

I started Ideal Protein in september 2015 and lost 38 pounds in 3 months. I became sick and medication my doctor gave me worsened my case... i kept looking on alternative programs... and i finally chose to start the Paleo Diet instead.

Much healthier, and i finally eat whole food (instead of horrible powder food) and fruits (they were forbidden, now i am happy they're back on my diet!). I started 3 days ago, and drink green smoothies every morning - half spinach, half fruits, with water. Helps cleaning my body!

I hope i'll be able to loose the pounds i always wanted to loose. Glad i can do sports with Paleo Lifestyle, i now play more with my son and it's good for both of us!

My husband follows the same diet, so we can help each other.

And hi James, glad to see you here too ;)

LESERCKS03,

Sorry for your losses, but welcome.

I understand your issues with swimming against the stream when it comes to not going with the standard diet.

I think one of the issues is that high carb diets are cheap, and eating more meat and natural foods is expensive, so sadly it can't be a diet for everyone, but it can be for you.

James

Hi, My name is Leslie. I'm new to the team and have been doing Paleo off and on for almost 5 years. My husband has had major success with it, losing over 150 pounds and I lost almost 70 pounds doing it however, 3 years ago we suffered two losses in 3 months and it threw us both way off track, we both gained the majority of the weight back and have struggled to get back into the groove of things. We vowed to ourselves and each other that 2016 would be the year. So that's why I'm here. Unfortunately I don't find much support for people who lead a Paleo lifestyle, its nice to have a group of people to talk to that actually understand what it is.

Hi there, TJANDJESS, and

I haven't heard of the 'Wild Diet' specifically, so I took a quick look... it sounds like it would be a permutation of 'paleo'. I do know of Abel James, and I suspect that it would incorporate some of his philosophies specifically... eating sustainably, locally, lose fat (eating fat), build muscle, etc. Sounds 'keto' in nature.

How am I doing?

...all of which is, at it's core 'paleo'. Everyone here applies paleo principles in personal way that fits who they are and how they live. Other viewpoints are always welcome, and we will do our best to support your journey!

I am have been doing traditional "low carb" diets on and off for about a year. Now I'm interested in "The Wild diet" which is a type of Paleo diet I believe. Does anyone have experience with this diet?

Hi! Brand new to the room. I have been doing The Whole30 for about 4 months now successfully. I love the lifestyle and the weight loss is a great bonus too. I have preferred to stick to the plan as it is such a simple and clean way to eat. It has been 19 years or more since I last saw under 200 lbs on the scale. It has made such a difference in my life and especially my health. Went to see the Dr and for the first time in years my BP was 124/82! I totally recommend Paleo and The Whole30!

Hi everybody I am new to this team I have been following Paleo for about 3 months, I have had food sensitivities all my life and I was recently diagnosed with leaky gut, I feel so MUCH better following Paleo but I still need to lose weight and stop side tracking to the foods that are not good for me.

HI everyone! I started paleo last year and lost 30 lbs, but then life intervened, and i fell off the wagon...I love my carbs emoticon . Needless to say I've gained that weight back. I was at the doctors and my sugar is reaching borderline diabetes, and my cholesterol is up, so it's back to the drawing board.

Joined this group for some accountability and support. My kids and husband are not paleo, so that makes it hard also.

Hi! I've been eating something about 90% Paleo for about 6 weeks, and I've lost 13 lbs! Only about 60 more to go, haha. I'm hoping to see some improvement in joint pain I've been having, and to generally see my health and energy increase :-)

Started gaining weight a little at a time since 2010 when I quite smoking. Bad news - I now need to lose 50 pounds. I started working out watching what I ate since August and I gained 10 pounds and I'm sore all the time. I had 3 massages in the last 3 weeks. I finally had enough and started looking at the Paleo Program. I am allergic to something, just not sure what it is. What I would like to do is try the Paleo Program for 30 days and if it goes well, continue. Once I reach my goal weight, I will talk to my doctor and get tested for food allergies. Honestly, I am too embarrassed to even go to the doctor now!!! I would be interested in seeing how Paleo worked for them and maybe even be Spark Friends. Any support is appreciated.

Hi I'm Debbie,
Just started the paleo eating plan on Sunday. I've gotten to the point where I'm desperate to get some relief from both physical and emotional pain and fatigue. Went shopping today for some spices and coconut and alternatives to grains, plus I bought some avocado oil. I tend not to cook much, so this will be a big change for me. It will also be a challenge, I know, when my husband and I eat out in a restaurant. I appreciate any advice, suggestions. Thanks.

Greetings! My name is Jenna and I started Paleo in April. I was tired of working out (CrossFit) and not seeing the results I thought I should be seeing. My gym promotes the Paleo diet, but it took me 8 months to finally jump on the band wagon. I usually eat 90% Paleo (one cheat meal, dinner, and one night of adult beverages). However, I found my cheat days lasting longer and longer after my daughters had two wedding w/in two weeks of each other! Our gym started a Whole 30 on the 28th. I decided against the Whole 30 and decided to do Paleo for 30 days with no cheat days and no alcohol. I already feel better, my measurements are finally going down again (I plateaud), and my alcohol cravings are disappearing (I miss my beer nights).

emoticon to the team all newcomers!!!!.

Chris Kresser's book - The Paleo Cure, offers a great source of information for healing inflammatory condition's, weight loss, etc.

The book has sections of multiple choice questions that will help you find out what is causing the problem and he provides answers and guidance on how to best address the problem with a customized plan based on your unique profile. You would then follow this plan/reset for at least 30 days, eliminating all non-paleo foods. After the 30 days you slowly re-introduce those foods, one by one, that you would like to include on your diet, whether paleo or not. If a particular food causes you a problem after reintroducing it, then you would eliminate this food and move on to the next one. After completing this step you should know what foods are causing your problem/inflammation and omit them from your diet.

Here is the link to his website for more information: my.chriskresser.com/books/tpc/

I did this reset in 2014 for 30+ days and between the months of April and June I lost 17 pounds and my cholesterol and LDL levels all improved. Unfortunately, after the death of my 15 year old fur baby, Jazzi, in Dec. 2014, I gained it all back and then some, so I am now starting over.

I have started a 30 day reset/maintenance thread if you would like to join in with other members of this team for support, motivation and accountability... Here is the link to that thread: www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_mes

Hi all! I was just ordered by my doctor to follow this "diet" to heal my gut to heal the inflammation throughout my body before it causes major health issues (thyroid, cardiac being the two we're most worried about). I've been working on it for a week now and struggling a bit as I adjust because we also discovered food allergies that mean a lot of paleo recipes are things I can't have. :( Spark has been a great resource for me for so many years that I'm surprised it took a week before I thought to look for a team for this!

hugs,
Dawn

Hi! I started Paleo about a year ago. My husband and I did it together. We lost a lot of weight and felt fabulous! Unfortunately both of us have been struggling the last few months. Basically once summer started. I am determined to get back on track with Paleo. It's the only time I have ever felt so energetic and so healthy. I need a place I can turn to for extra support. I'm hoping this will be it. I also love love to cook now. Being Paleo you need to be creative sometime with your food and I love mixing and experimenting different recipes. I hope I can also be an encouragement to others... Jibby 🍑

Hi all!
I'm on a mission. I'll be 50 in 1 year 8 months and 17 days. I've decided that it is time to get in the best shape of my life by that date. One of the things I will be doing is living a more Primal/Paleo Lifestyle.

I know I eat too much processed, sugared, carbo'ed food. Also, I will be increasing mobility function to help heal some injuries and start some serious weight lifting. I am a Highland Games athlete and need to get back on the program ASAP!

If anyone has any hints on what to substitute for almonds/walnuts (allergic) or coconut (just don't like the flavor!) I'd appreciate some hints. Feel free to message me.

Thank you!

Hi, everyone! I'm Anna! I'm diabetic and came to the realization this summer that grains are no good for me. It is hard to go to 100% grain free! There is hidden stuff everywhere. I'm doing my best to learn the code words for grains and avoid them.

HI, I'm Kitty. I began low carb just before i was diagnosed with diabetes. I"ve sorta stuck with it, but was unable or just unwilling to not cheat so no weight loss, I love fruit, love sweets, even love bread. however..... now I have confirmed it without a doubt I am reacting badly in almost all my joints to grain, and I"ve known for 20 years or more that I"m allergic to dairy so I"m getting more serious about this and trying the paleo. the low carb was driving me whiny because of wishing for the cheese. I still can't eat fruit like I used to, so it may not work but I think I can, I think I can.... Thanks for listening, Kitty from WPA.

Howdy Y'all!
I watched my husband drop his excess weight by eating Paleo. I've been cooking Paleo dinners for a good while. Now I'm finally working on going 100% (OK - 95% - I can't make it 100% - they are bringing Blue Bell back soon!) Paleo. Thanks for sharing recipes!

Hi

I'm Kris...new to paleo but not SP.

I have terrible allergies and finished a food elimination diet not long ago, which resulted in a 20lb weight loss. Part of that included cutting out just about everything and then slowly adding foods back in. I basically feel best eating mostly vegetarian and occasionally having some meat. I prefer organic but not always in the budget.

I decided to learn more about paleo as I think it's a bit more like how we should eat. Less to no processed foods, lower in fat and bad carbs. More real foods basically.

Looking forward to learning more and being part of the team!

Hi Ellen, sorry for the late response and emoticon

I combined the Primal and Paleo lifestyles to provide more options.

Primal allows: grass fed/organic dairy

I do a hybrid of both primal/paleo because I am not going to give up dairy unless it causes inflammation or stalls my weight loss efforts. I have about 30+ pounds to lose.

Please join this months 30 day reset. The reset is the process of eliminating all non-paleo/primal foods ... however, if you know that a food does not cause inflammation, etc., continue to include that food in your diet.

This is also a maintenance challenge thread for those who have reached their goal and want to stay accountable and want to both provide and receive ongoing support. Here is the link to the thread if you would like to join us: www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_mes

Hi all, I'm new to this team, but not to Spark People. I've tried a LOT of diets and lifestyle changes, but nothing has stuck. My greatest success came with Atkins, but my doctor didn't like my cholesterol numbers and it didn't feel healthy. So, on to paleo. I don't know if I can give up dairy though and I'm not sure why it is so bad. I love a couple of tablespoons of grass fed milk in my tea in the morning along with a teaspoon of coconut oil. So, I have more learning to do and a hip problem to overcome. I'm looking forward to a healthier lifestyle!

Remember, nobody can go back to the very beginning and make a brand new start, but anyone can start here and make a brand new end.

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results."

Hey, I'm Nivanio, 27, from Brazil. Started paleo about 6-7 months ago. Went from 103kg to 82kg without any exercise, just eating paleo. I still have some problems, like drinking diet soda, I can drink 2l of that thing everyday...
Last week started weight lifting at home with just dumbbells, will see how that works.
It's good to meet you guys.

I'm new to the Paleo/Primal lifestyle, but I thin I 've found something that really works! Over the years I've tried all kinds of different diets, but I've never gotten to the point where I saw it as a LIFESTYLE, not a diet. I'm ready to change my thinking and focus on my health. My body is a temple and it's time to clean house!

Hi! I'm totally new to Primal/Paleo. Hoping to relieve digestive issues that have plagued me for a few years, and get back into shape. While I am being very strict initially, I am wondering if my digestive issues require relinquishing even more types of foods to heal my gut.

Hello I'm Char,
My husband and I have been Paleo since November of 2013. We were strict Paleo from Nov 2013-Jan 2014 for a Challenge thru dh's CrossFit place. I lost 20 lbs. during the challenge. Dh asked if I wanted to make this a lifestyle. I said I would be willing to make it a lifestyle if we did 80/20% instead of everyday being a strict 100%. So we are guess more Primal then Paleo. I was missing my café mocha's during the challenge. I'm not allergic to dairy so I have 1 cup of grass fed milk per day in the morning (mixed with 2 oz. of espresso and 1 oz. of melted 72% - 86% dark chocolate. I'm going to try and cut it back to only having it a couple times a week come June and I'm off work and make it more of a treat instead of daily habit. Want to drink more green tea instead. Dh has more 100% days then I do since he doesn't drink milk in his coffee he has always drank nothing adding to his coffee.

I have gained some of the weight back over the last couple of months and feel the need to get back closer to 100% Paleo again. Feel Summer time will be easier since I'll be off work.

Hi All - I'm Hana. I joined the team last week, but wasn't sure I was ready to take the Paleo plunge yet. I got myself into gear this year and had some success dropping weight and getting healthier with a prescribed detox as I've been suffering for years with skin problems, sciatica, back and joint pain and wanted to take my life back. After the detox, I wanted to continue my success, so I followed the Fast Metabolism Diet for 28 days. I lost a bit more on that, but knew it was not a sustainable way to eat/live. So, I've just kind of been 'winging it' getting exercise in daily and trying to eat 'sensibly' (whole grains, yada-yada), but not doing a very good job of it.

Well, the weight started coming back on, along with the joint pain, face breaking out, back decided to go on me and I knew that it was all due to my diet. I had been reading up on Paleo and realised that it was very similar (yet not quite as restrictive) as the detox I had done. After about 2 weeks of (procrastination) research, I have decided this is the lifestyle that I want for myself (and hopefully, my family too!).

I'm starting the Primal Blueprint 21-day program tomorrow (officially), but have cut out all grains since last Thursday and am amazed at the results already! The sciatica is GONE! Joint inflammation is down and my back is twinge-free. My face is clearing up and I dropped three of the 5 pounds I gained back. I think this is definitely going to work for me!!

I am doing monthly resets because I don't consider this a quick fix and although I may reintroduce foods back in gradually I still need to be accountable and I like the structure/guidelines of the reset. Keeps me on track.

I have created a May reset challenge thread to post:

Meals
Exercise
Questions, etc.

I use it as a reference to keep track of what I am doing and it also motivates me to see what others are doing, here is the link:

I try to post daily, but if not, at least some part of the week. Take a look at the thread when you get a chance. I hope you join us in the reset, if you have any questions let me know.

Hello, im sally .............i've been plagued by severe, chronic eczema for many years. I've gone to several Dr.s and Skin Dr.s and they just give me different steroid ointments and prednisone. The weekend past, I went to a women's retreat and another woman sat next to me and gently put her hand on mine and asked Eczema? I nodded yes because i couldn't speak due to her kindness and my pain. Well it must have been divine intervention because she told me her story about years of the same suffering and told me how she got rid of hers . NO Grain including corn, no root veggies, no Dairy, no nightshades and NO SUGAR. Nothing processed. I tried starting on Saturday. and ive lost 4 pounds already.

im over retirement age. Just divorced after 38 yrs . have 3 kids adult kids and i have 5 grandchildren and I take care of my dad and i take art classes.

Im looking forward to meeting you all here on sparks and learning from you and sharing.

thanks. sally

Hi! My name is Vickie and my husband and I have been doing a somewhat-paleo diet since the beginning of the year. Mostly, we try to go grain free. We do have our moments of weakness, though. :) Initially, I lost 5 pounds in the first week or so. Since then I've started exercising (couch to 5K) and try to eat good overall. Have not lost any more weight! Ugh! Does anybody have tips on getting enough carbs for energy? I have to somewhat limit my fruit intake as I'm fructose intolerant. :(

Hi Denise. You will feel great on Paleo. I have been on maintenance weight since last August, and I am sure it is the Paleo diet that makes it easy. Good Luck! emoticon

Hi, I'm Trina and new to the team!
I need some accountability to get going on my plan. I have almost all the major paleo/primal books. I do allow whey protein, as it just really works for me. I joined for the daily reset! I need it!

Hi I am Nola from near Perth Western Australia. I have been in maintenance since August last
year. I love Paleo. I have been doing it for about 6 months now and I am sure that is why it is easier for me to stay in maintenance. I look forward to getting to know everyone and make some new Spark Friends.

emoticon to the team DEBBIE...

Well, the Paleo/primal lifestyle worked for me last year. I posted my stats earlier in this thread but here are my before/after results I accomplished in just 2 months::

Weight: 176/158
LDL: 127/107
Cholesterol: 187/167

I can honestly say that I love this lifestyle.

We are doing 30 day resets every month if you would like to join in. A small group of us post on the: ~ Support & Challenges ~ thread www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_mes
sa
geboard_thread.asp?board=11888x28224R>x61090901&src=email

We post our meals, exercise, ask questions, inspire, motivate and support each other everyday, or as often as possible. It doesn't matter what paleo/primal lifestyle plan you follow, i.e., Whole 30, Chris Kresser, Primal Blueprint (Mark Sisson), The Paleo Solution (Robb Wolf), etc. The goal is to stay as paleo/primal as possible, especially if you are doing a reset.

We would love to have you join us. My dog of 15 years died on Dec. 21st and I gained all the weight I lost last year + one pound, so my short term goal is to lose 10% which will be 17 pounds. My starting weight was 177, so my 10% goal is 160. Since Thursday, April 2nd, I have already lost 5 pounds and weighed in yesterday at 172!

I also wanted to mention that the scale does not reflect your progress accurately. I actually focus on "loss in inches" which really indicates a loss of fat. I really don't care about the pounds in numbers, if my clothes start falling off of me I know that I am making progress.

When I started the reset on April 1st, I weighed in on April 2nd when I saw my doctor at 177. Yesterday I had a bone scan and had an unexpected weigh-in and found that I had lost 5 pounds down to 172, but as a rule I won't weigh again until I feel that my clothes are fitting loser... it would only frustrate me if I weigh-in and I find that I am not making any progress at all!

... anyway, I hope you decide to join us and I wish you the best of luck in reaching your goal(s) emoticon ~ Dee

Hi, My name is Debbie. I'm 63 and having the hardest time losing weight at this time in my life.
The scale does not budge. I try to stay gluten free and know I shouldn't play around with it but every once in a while I cave. I'm hoping with the team's support I can lose the 10-15 pounds I gained in the last 4 years. I also need to lower my cholesterol. It was so much easier when I was younger and working at my teaching job. I plan on reading this forum and getting some pointers on how Paleo has worked for all of you.
Have a wonderful day and thanks for any help you can give me. emoticon

emoticon MCCRAEE1 ... it took me awhile to warm up to the lifestyle myself. A Sparkfriend introduced me to it and I have never looked back... that was about 4 years ago. I have hit my goal a few times, but relapsed again and again. I recently relapsed when my dog died on Dec. 21st. I had lost from 178 to 158 and all of my numbers went down... cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides...

Good luck to you in reaching your goal(s). emoticon emoticon

Hi, I am a 50 year old mom/wife who works way too much. I found crossfit about 18 months ago and they all ate via this really weird paleo/primal method. I held out for a long while since everything I knew said that was not smart eating. Not sure why but I've been won over and have lost 20 pounds and lowered my cholesterol on the way. I would like to drop another 10 pounds.

I have done several of the Whole Life Challenges. Generally no alcohol, no added sugar, no refined carbs or grains. They do allow some greek yogurt dairy and oatmeal but I mostly avoid those anyway. Also, exercise, mobility, drink water & sleep enough.

Thank you for the info Dee...I will def. check it out. I am not sure how well I will do, for me it seems far easier to trudge through a physical workout than the mental workout of trying to figure my body out and my nutritional needs.

Hope your Dr visit went better than ya think.

I would like to recommend a book... The Paleo Cure by Chris Kresser. Here is a description of the book:

"IT WORKS: It is not about forcing something that worked for others to work for you. It is about finding out exactly what does work for you. Despite our similarities, it is our differences that make it impossible for any standard diet to work for everyone. Personalization works.

IT'S DOABLE: If other diets and other solutions to your chronic symptoms have failed you before, it's probably because they weren't right for you. This approach is more flexible and sustainable over the long-term because it takes your unique needs into account.
It's not a diet.

IT'S NOT A DIET: "The Paleo Cure" isn't just about Paleo food; it also helps you customize all the critical factors that make you healthy and happy, like sleep, physical activity, stress management, and social connection."

Here is the link to the books description: paleocurebook.com/

Link to Chris Kresser's website... he has a lot of free ebook's and information here:
chriskresser.com/articles

I like Chris Kresser's because he understands that living paleo is "not a one size fits all" lifestyle. I did a Chris Kresser reset last year and had great results... within 2 months of following the reset my health improved. Here are my before/after results:

Weight: 176/158
LDL: 127/107
Cholesterol: 187/167

I recently gained all the weight back because I loss my dog of 15 years on Dec.21st, so I am doing the reset again. I have a doctor's appointment later on today and will have some tests done so I that I can find out what my numbers are and how much damage I have done to myself with all this weight gain. I feel miserable.

Re DAIRY

The Primal lifestyle, Mark Sisson, allows high quality dairy... I follow a paleo/primal lifestyle because I am not going to eliminate dairy completely. I found though, that I may have to reduce dairy when trying to lose weight because it seems to stall weight loss, at least for me.

Here is a link to the Primal Blueprint website for more information: www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-bluep
ri
nt-101/

****************
... and of course, making small changes, like eating as clean and close to nature as possible, will make a big difference. You don't have to transition to this lifestyle over night, it's a process. I am still learning and the paleo/primal community is also still evolving. There are so many websites with tons of information.

...anyway, I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information and if you have any questions please let me know. ~ Dee

Hi everyone. I joined your group today out of curiosity and intrigue! Believe it or not today is the very first time I have ever heard of Paleo. I was doing a bit of research into PCOS (which I believe I may have although undiagnosed). I am not a hypochondriac. Let me just say that. lol

I am not sure that I can live without cheese but I am interested in starting to make smaller changes into the paleo lifestyle.

I have body aches and some stomach issues and pcos symptoms. (LOTS!)

I began this weight loss back in 2010 and in a year I had lost about 85-90 pounds. I was home a lot and I could regulate what I ate and when I ate it and my exercise. I had a routine. Looking back I can see I ate a lot of chicken and a lot of salad. In fact every meal consisted of my plate being at least half full of salad fixins. I drank milk (but I measured it and I probably only had about 1/2 cup a day with a cup of cereal). I gave up soda and had a strange craving for pickled beets.

Then I began working all different shifts and that flew out the window. The weight loss stopped. I have played around with the same 25-30 pounds for over 4 years now.

It's time to take it to the next level. It's time to get healthier and feel better.

Truthfully I have never followed any plan like weight watchers of adkins or anything like that so I don't know how well I will do but reading all the comments even if a make a few changes I will be doing for the better right?

Hi! Now that I'm living on my own, I'd like to develop an eating style that is entirely mine. Paleo appeals to me, though I'll include butter and heavy cream in my plan, too. For various reasons, I think I'll do better on the lower end of the carb scale. Overdoing the carbs can put me into quite a funk! Seriously: for me, sugar, grains, and the like can make me feel drugged. I get a CSA box every other week, so I'll be trying to find creative uses for what I get in that.

I noticed in the last post you suggested joining the 30 day challenge. Can I do that mid-stream? And if so, how do I join? I followed the link, but I don't see how to join.

Hi there...
Yesterday I started on the Whole30. My health has been suffering as a result of a poor diet. I keep telling myself... "I'm too young to feel this old!" Typically, I don't reach out for help, but this time, I am looking to others (y'all) for support, advice and motivation. I am at a point where I really must turn this around, for the sake of my sanity and well-being. I know enough about nutrition and my body to know that when I follow the Paleo plan I feel much better.
So here I am -Once again- open to any suggestions.

Thanks,
S.

Hi All:

Once again, back for more on Sparks. I was doing Paleo and man what difference in how I felt physically. Then I went back to eating whatever, whenever I wanted. I'm miserable and disheartened that I care so little for myself. But, here I am again and willing to give it a go. Paleo makes sense for me since it eliminated so many of my aches and pains...and I lost weight.

I am new to the Paleo diet. Not really strict I still have cream in my coffee when I have it. Other than that no dairy, sugar or processed foods. I do feel full or content throughout the day so I can honestly say I have no cravings. I do eat out and I am just very careful what I order. So far I have had great results.

Hi, everyone! My name is Amanda, and I am new to paleo. I tried it a year ago and was doing well, but then my mother died of breast cancer and things went off the rails. But I'm recommitted! I am eleven days without grains and already feel better. I am less hungry throughout the day. I am noticing that my sleep quality is suffering a bit since I started, but Google tells me that might be normal. Did anyone else have that problem? Anyway, I look forward to learning more about paleo and am excited about the support from this team.

Hi everyone! I'm new here! I'm looking to lose about 60lbs. I have been trying to get and stick with Paleo for a long time now and am starting over, yet again.

I am nearly paleo except for some greek yogurt and occasional beans. I feel great and have lost about 30 pounds over the last year or so.

Hello everyone. I have used SP in the past but haven't stuck with it. Last year I tried a paleo lifestyle and found really good success. I was exercising, had a tremendous amount of energy and I was loosing weight. I felt better than I had in years and people were telling me they could see a difference and wanted to know what I was doing. Then I cheated here and there, while my mom was visiting me on her vacation. After she left....I couldn't get control. I just couldn't get back in the program. Since then, I have put the weight back on and have been very unhappy. I want that feeling back paleo brought to me. I started back on today. We'll see. Oh and since then, my mom has tried paleo, stuck with it and is off all meds, went down three sizes and has built up her muscle mass. I know it works!
