I generally hit the 10000 steps on the gym days but rarely in between, try as I might. It is always the goal!

emoticon from Orange County! My best advice is to take baby steps and don't try to change everything at once - walking is a great 'introductory' exercise so I suggest getting a good pedometer [I love my Omron HJ-720 pocket pedometer!] and slowly add steps each day until you are regularly walking at least 10,000 daily! That's an excellent way for seniors to exercise - I've taken it one step further and do a lot of hiking, which adds intensity and complexity. Good luck on your journey!

Wow.... 110 lbs! I bow to you, woman! You are an achiever! What's most impressive is you haven't lost your motivation and you've maintained the weight loss. Thanks for sharing. I promise to check in every day to read up on some very inspirational successes like yours. Thank you for writing!

Thank you for your reply. Waving hello from up north to you down south! It doesn't matter how far away you are. I'd still like to hear about your struggles and successes. I may be new to SparkPeople, but I'm hardly new to the weight loss war. I've been 50 lbs. overweight now for 20 years. I have no trouble starting out on anything, but I always lose my motivation soon enough. I need to change this terrible concept of myself. "You can do it," Tony Little always says!

I grew up in Sacramento! (and San Jose) my parents were divorced and I was both places.
I'm in Crescent City now. We moved to paradise to retire.
I have had wonderful success here on SP. I've lost 70 lbs. and am managing to keep it off.
Join some groups of like minded folks, check in everyday. Read some blogs and stories of people that are doing well and you will be inspired!
Stick around! You will love it here!
As for exercise, I walk mostly and do free weights for upper body every other day.
I started with one block and added on as I got stronger. I'm up to 3-5 miles at a time now.

Hello,

I live in Sacramento, California and was just introduced to SparkPeople yesterday. I'm wondering if there's anyone on this Spark California team who lives nearby, and if there are any seniors. Hoping to hear from you about your success on SparkPeople, and especially your fitness/exercise methods. I NEED some motivation!

Thanks!
