Sara, I know it can be a real discouragement and overwhelmingly depressing when you catch site of yourself which you may have been in denial over, but it can be just what you need to get u going and make the changes for a better tomorrow. As these others have mentioned here,you are still so young and as Ronnie and these others have said, "if you do it it will work." It's not as hard as it seems. Eat less and burn more with exercise. Make the best choices you can when you come upon food choices. Deprivation is not the answer, but eat what you want with moderation(smaller portions).Really bump up your water intake and cut back on sodas, alcohol and sugary drinks.Once that water gets in there Your kidneys will work better to flush out alot of junk in the system toxins and such which will aid in your weightloss.You don't have to be a gym rat or a fanatic w/ the exercise either.Simple walking can burn lots of fat. Be sure &find support to keep you accountable on those days when you're feeling weak and want to throw in the towel.Read the success stories& motivational quotes here on this site.There are lots of people on Spark who've walked this road before you and lost lots and lots of weight- you wouldn't believe these people!! People w/ huge amounts of weight to lose...but they did it and so can you. One step, one moment, one week at a time and do not weigh everyday due to water fluctuation- the scale can throw you off your diet! Cheer up okay!?

I'm so sorry to hear you had such a bad day! You just had your ah-ha moment. We have ALL been there.
You can do this! Take baby steps and stay with SparkPeople! Use the tools and join some groups that interest you. I've been here for 5 years, lost 70 pounds and love the support I get from my Spark friends. Don't worry! This is something you can control.

You can do it! Take it one day at a time.Drink lots of water or even tea,juice etc.. Write down everything you eat. Walk even if only for a few minutes.Good luck on your weight loss journey.You can do it!

My name is Sarah, I'm 24, and a stay at home mom to a one year old daughter. I went to the mall today to find a bathing suit. I walked past a long mirror in a department store and had to do a double take. Am I really this big? Have the scales been right all along? As I kept walking through the store, passing mirrors and women thinner than I, the clothes racks became a maze and I had to leave. The anxiety was overwhelming. I got in my car and cried my whole way home. So here I am. Hoping to fight for a better body.
