from Orange County. The easiest way to do this is to set a couple of small goals and work on those until they become 'habit,' then choose another one or two small goals to work on - that way it will have a chance to become a permanent lifestyle change and the weight you lose will stay gone - when we try to do too much at once or lose weight too fast, it may seem like it's working but it's easy to get off track and go back to the old ways.
As for being overwhelmed, I think most of us feel that way at once - there is a lot of info here on SparkPeople but you don't have to learn all of it in a day, just take baby steps with everything and it will be less overwhelming, less stressful and much easier. Good luck on your journey!
