Hi, Mary Anne and from Orange County! I was just in Lake Elsinore today - we went out to hike in Santa Rosa Plateau and stopped to do a little shopping.
I'm so sorry to hear about your surgery and totally understand the effect of stress of life - good way to put it! My best advice is to set a couple of small goals and work on those until they become 'habit' and then set the next small goals. Taking baby steps like that means the weight loss will have a better chance of being permanent, rather than trying to lose too much too fast and then putting it right back on.

Welcome and best wishes Mary Anne! I admire you for working hard considering the fact that you have had spinal fusion! That's a tough surgery and that you are committed to getting healthy will only improve your back! :-)
My husband also had spinal fusion about 4 years ago now and he still has a lot of back problems. Granted, his was due to trauma from an accident and is 5 levels right in the middle of his back. We are working with a neurosurgeon now to see if they might take out the hardware and see if it makes an improvement. At any rate, it's a tough road!

Ever since I had spinal fusion surgery over a year ago, I have gradually put on 20 pounds. It appears to be quite the challenge in taking this extra weight off my body. Stress of life has also added to my challenge. I am defintely in the mood to lose weight, turn my diet into only nutritional foods, and exercise at least 5 days per week.
