Marcie ... I find it helps for me to use the nutrition tracker as a planning tool, so I fill it out before I eat. I either plan my meals for an entire day the night before or first thing in the morning. That was I can hit the "See Today's Full Report" button and find out if I stayed in the recommended ranges for all the areas I'm tracking (I track fiber and sodium in addition to the calories, carbs, fats and proteins SP sets up for everyone). If I'm too high or too low in certain areas I can make adjustments before I put the food in my mouth rather than moaning and groaning about it if I don't find out I'm out of wack until after I've eaten it. When we go camping I fill in the nutrition tracker with the whole weekend's menu and pack accordingly. That cuts down on the chance for overeating because I don't pack anything that isn't on the menu.

Good idea, I got a little notebook to carry with me to track what I do put in my mouth. I've also decided to try and track my calorie intake. Thanks for the input

Welcome to the boards!! I am with you on the late night eating. Our problem is we dont eat dinner until after 8, if not later every night - then off to bed on a full stomach. I am trying hard to get out of that habit but it is a tough one to break. Good luck.

Welcome Marcie! I find that making up my mind is the first thing I have to do. That food can't jump into my mouth by itself, so if I've made up my mind I am going to document every bite that goes in my mouth and stay in calorie range, then I have to make the right choices as to what does get put in my mouth. Perhaps having paper and pencil out by the cupboard where your snacks are and commit to counting those pretzels before you eat them, or whatever you're tempted with..and be accountable for it! Polish your nails, do you do crafts? Or do just some light exercising while watching TV if that's what you do in the evening will maybe help you get into the frame of mind you need. Good luck. It does seem like the more you post on Sparks does help too. Have you joined other groups here also?

emoticon Marcie ... emoticon to the Spark North Dakota team. It's nice to have you with us. Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself. My name is Terrie Jo and I'm right up the road in Minot. I don't have a problem with late night eating, but I do tend to munch a lot when I'm under stress. In order to get through stressful times I keep fresh veggies cut up and ready to go in my fridge. When I feel the munchies coming on I go grab the veggies. Munching on carrot sticks, celery, broccoli and cauliflower is a lot better that grabbing a brownie or a handful of cookies. Maybe veggies at night will work for you when you go looking for that late night snack.

I finally have decided that I need to do something with the way I look and feel. Before having my 3rd child I was in pretty good shape! But after I just havent had the energy or the drive to exercise and eat right. My weakness is late night eating, how do I get past this? I hope to find support and motivation from all of you!!! and I'll do the same back.
