Welcome to the team, TAMI1836! I can tell you that I put off doing water exercise for years, but once I started I was finally able to move my body enough to help me lose a lot of weight. I loved it so much that I eventually became a certified instructor! You'll do fine, I'm sure. I tell my students that it may take a couple of weeks to get a good feel for some of the move. If there's something you just don't get, ask your instructor before or after class.

Sure, you might not be able to do everything they all do at first, but eventually you can. And you work at the intensity that suits you---at least at mine that is what we all do. I am recuperating from a knee injury so if I can't do something in the routine, I go back to another activity that I can do---that way I am still moving and burning calories. And by continuing in my program, it has helped my knee a lot.

One of the really great things about water aerobics is that there are no mirrors, so you don't have to watch and critique yourself. Another is that you and everybody else are immersed in water, so nobody knows what foot you're on or how high your leg went! From the perspective of the pool deck, the instructor can check your form and posture to make sure you get the most out of what you do, but the main mantra of water exercise is to take it at your own pace and do what works for your own body on that particular day. Have fun!

I have always loved the water i am a great swimmer. But i have been for the last 6 months getting back in shape. I am a big girl but i am on personal fitness journey. I have been exercising in so many ways for the past six months. But I have been hearing so many wonderful things about water aerobics. So this coming week i am going to try water aerobics classes for the first time! I am nervous but very excited. So please even though i am great swimmer i am going to be a newbie at everything water aerobics!!
