I was very excited to find a Water Aerobics team when I joined! I'm 58 and live in MA. My "fun job" is a water aerobics instructor in the evenings. I began as a participant in the classes some years ago and I loved it enough to become certified and teach on my own! I also learned to swim and passed a lifeguard test. (I also work full time during the day.) I teach 4 water classes a week (2 regular, 2 cardio--both in shallow water), and I swim laps every day.
Being able to exercise in the water probably saved my life because it helped me lose a considerable amount of weight. I have bad ankles and knees and wasn't able to exercise on land. However I still have more weight to lose. I'd also begun to slowly regain some of the weight I'd previously lost, so I joined SparkPeople to try a new approach.
