I am a nurse doing private duty nights with pediatric vent patients. While this was hard to adjust to after 25 years of dayshift, it is much more suitable for my circadian rhythm. I can't think straight getting up to be at work at 6am! My biggest challenge has been to figure out when to eat. Since my thyroid was nuked a few years ago, I seldom feel "hungry", though that didn't stop the pounds from piling on. I have tried to simulate a schedule to eat similar to the time frame that day eaters follow but I have to actually set an alarm to tell me to eat or it will be 4:45am and I haven't eaten "supper". How do you other night workers manage your meals?
