Hi, My name is Kris and in 2008 I had Lap Band surgery. I am type 2 diabetic and managed to lose 50 pounds and became insulin free. In 2011 my band slipped and I had it replaced. Just 3 months ago I was having terrible acid reflux and with this reflux I was only getting about 2 hours sleep a night. It would wake me out of a sound sleep and my meds would come up with it. I called my lap band doctor and he admitted me into the hosp on May 24. I had an EGD on May 25 and was told my band slipped again, so they were going to replace it again. That night they tried for about 4 hours, but there was so much stomach scarring that they could not put another band in. They told me on the morning of May 26. I was pretty upset, but I knew it was the right thing to do. From all of the IV fluids they pumped into me from Thur to Sat, I gained 7 pounds! I know it was all water, but on Sunday, I knew I now had to do this on my own, so I started following something like Atkins. Being diabetic I wanted something low sugar, but I could not quit sugar cold turkey. I know writing things down helps. I am happy to say I am down 11 pounds already. I know a lot of it is water. But this is working. I'm very excited!

I know I can do this! Keeping my eyes on the prize!
