Hello,

I am new to the group and I hope to gain alot of knowledge from this group. I have been finding that limiting my meat intake has made me feel better inside. I need all the support that I can get.

Welcome belatedly! I am sort of doing the same thing, kind of gradually eating more and more vegetarian and whole foods.

Hi! I joined this group a while ago but haven't been checking in. I think I felt like I was doing the pseudo-vegetarian thing on a whim (it's been about 6 months), but after actually eating some meat in the last few weeks and feeling crappy as a result, I think I need to get more serious about it. It's so easy to become "removed" from our meat - you buy this wrapped cellophane package at the store and try to not notice the blood or think about the slaughter or the poor animal's living conditions.... Yeah, ENOUGH!

I was more of an actual vegetarian about 5 years ago. I did it for two years and then because I felt low on energy decided to try eating meat again. I really need to get myself to like beans better. What is there aside from meat, dairy, and beans that is a GREAT source of protein? I know nuts are okay but you'd have to eat A LOT of nuts to get that much protein, and that's just way too many calories. Great, in a small amount, but certainly not 60 grams worth of protein!

So, I'm on a hunt for wonderful recipes that include beans AND advice on how to "ease into" eating beans. The last two times I had hummus, which I really like and wouldn't mind eating more often, I got a really awful stomach ache.

I'll poke around the previous topics and see what I can learn. Thanks, y'all! :)

Eating clean is hard for me. Since I do not like to eat any meat (but sometimes do), I find myself getting bored and crave carbs. Like last night my brain triggered a feeling that I was depriving myself, so I bought some Atkins snacks. I also have been craving french fries and hamburgers, so I bought sweet potato fries and veggies burgers for tomorrow night dinner. I think for me I have to have a balance and eat processed foods from time to time.

Welcome to the team!

Hi. I stopped eating all meat but chicken and fish in 2009. I eat clean off and on. I did well for about 6 months last year but then I returned to school and was on a meal plan so I had no control over my food. Now that I'm back home I'm starting again and trying to learn even more about my food. I feel that my nutrition is a huge reason why I don't lose weight. I have been soda free for over a year (01/01/2010) and I have had no drinks but water and tea since 01/01/2011. I am addicted to sugar and would love to kick that habit as well! I subscribe to Clean Eating magazine and love to try out new recipes! I eat chicken or tuna about 3 - 5 days a week and would like to cut that down to 2 - 3 days a week.
