My name is Wendy, I live in Tennessee, and I haven't had meat for 35 days now. My mom sent me a book and a DVD called the RAVE diet and it has totally changed my life. I am in the process of transitioning to a total vegan lifestyle, but right now I still eat cheese, use oil and eat some refined foods.
After reading the book and watching the DVD it was so easy to give up meat right away, and now I am experimenting with recipes and foods that I never thought about before and my body has totally reacted positively to this way of eating.
If I do decide to eat meat it will be on occasion and I will only eat grass-fed beef, free-range chicken and non-cured meats either ordered over the internet or purchased from whole foods. If anyone is interested RAVE stands for:
R - no refined foods
A - no animal foods
V - no vegetable oils
E - no exceptions and exercise
I just joined this group and hope to be educated further about the foods to eat to keep me healthy. I have about 70 pounds to lose and now that I have adopted this lifestyle I am not in a hurry and I know if done right, it'll take me a year or so to accomplish my goals.
