My roommate sauteed it and served it up with cheese and crispy cooked dulse on a bun like a burger.

I eat it most times like you're doing it, or roasted in a foil covered pan with cubed potato, sweet potato, onions and garlic all tossed lightly in oil salt and pepper. Yum!

Funny you should mention tempeh! That is what we are having tonight for dinner. I am new to tempeh so this should be interesting. I am marinating it in a vegan approved teriaki sauce, stir frying it with veggies ( broccoli, multicolored small sweetpeppers, way too much garlic and red onion) and serving it on brown rice. I bought a rice cooker from Costco. That was one of those appliances I thought was a total waste of money and space. Turns out we use it ALL the time! It is perhaps THE greatest appliance after the coffee maker and toaster. How did your room mate fix tempeh?

I'll have to try boka burgers. I eat Gimme Lean because its a fair sausage taste.

I cut down on my meat when I had a roommate who cooked a lot of tempeh, tofu and veggie burgers. I liked them and because I live in a very rural area they are much easier to get from a co-op and they're easier to store in bulk. Plus I noticed my health was more even - I sort of noticed my mood didn't swing so much and I wondered if it was from stuff they put in the meat. So now I go all organic if I do buy meat, and its very limited.

It just never occurred to me there were lots of people who were semi-vegetarian. I like it!

I love that. Did everyone just stare like you were loony? But that is so something I would do. Too funny.

Hahaha, chipmunking, that is so funny, hadn't heard that before. I know what you mean though. I once took a fish my husband had caught and ran it back to the lake and walked it around under water to revive it. Poor thing didn't make it : ( I guess if I can't kill it I shouldn't eat it. I just adopted 4 adorable parakeets, now I am having hinkies about eating fowl.

Kerstin I am part vegetarian for the same reason. Also if I think about it while I am eating, I start chipmunking cuz the thought of chewing on their poor flesh grosses me out.

Hi welcome to the team! I am sort of a "wanna-be" vegetarian and I am eating more vegetarian both for my health and for the well-being of the earth. I don't want to get too political about it but the way livestock is raised on the megafarms is appalling. I am experimenting with some vegan things, like Boca burgers make pretty decent mock Italian sausage for example, and DH is also interested in it. Love to hear more about your journey
