Hi Brenda, You have made some major changes in your life. Moving and not knowing anyone is such a leap of faith, an adventure for sure!!! I wish you the best in all that you do.

Food budget, I know that is a huge thing. Try and match meals to the items on sale at the supermarkets. Try farmer markets. Also not sure if you are in a home or apartment but you can grow some of your own stuff in containers.

Tomato plants do well or you can do them in a hanging containers. Peppers and strawberries can do very well. If you have access to a garden but don't want to dig. Buy the big bags of soil and you can cut small slits in rows on the bags and you can grow all kinds of things like that. You can start seeds or do small plants. You can even do a line of them down your driveway if you have enough room. Granted when the plants are small they can look a bit unsightly but once the plants grow you will hardly see the bags!!

Check on the Spark teams and see if you have a team near you, you may be able to find some people you can do a walking group with once or twice a week!

Hi everyone my name is Brenda and i recently moved to the greater Atlanta area to live with my fiance. I don't know many people around here so I thought sparkpeople would not only help me meet others but help me reach my health goals. I am a current psychology student and my fiance is also a student so we don't have a lot of extra money to spend on things like a gym or expensive health food. I would love to eat healthier and still stay on budget so if anyone has any tips PLEASE share/email me through my sparkpage. I recently started doing my turbo jam DVDs again since I don't go regularly to a gym (my apartment complex has one but has HORRIBLE hours). I also walk whenever I can just depends on how much homework the kids have. :-D emoticon
