Wow! You are an animal lover.........I too have had bearded dragons.....I've had rats also.....birds, cats, dogs, ferrets, turtles, fish, salamanders, iguanas, love snakes but have never had one.....used to do rescue with them......took them from one place where the people did not want them...were actually killing them....to another place....safe area.

Great to see so many animal lovers on here...............................

Hello all! I am relatively new to SP and have just started checking out all the teams I joined in the beginning! My partner Rick and I have several pets. Almost all of them are rescues. We have: 3 cats (Midnight, C-A-T, and Sophie) 4 snakes (Baby Girl, Big Boy, Peyton and Larry) 2 turtles (Speedy and Ms. Zip) 1 frog (Michigan J. Frog) 1 skink (Mr. Spock) 4 axolotls (Moe, Larry, Curly and Shemp) 1 bearded dragon (Spike) 1 guinea pig (Heywood Banks) 2 rats (T'Pau and Uhura) 1 gecko (Hadji) and an aquarium with assorted fish.

Ms. Zip is my workout buddy! When I'm riding my bike she paddles along with me emoticon

Our little Miss Coco just chose me. We had lost our Biancia after 18 years and no little one gave me any kind of feeling. I picked her up and she just sucked out my heart. I knew she was the one

Keep on track

Christopher

Less than a month after we married my h went on a trip for a week. I was home alone so I went to the pound. It was closed but a women showed up with a young dog she was dropping off. So I took it as fate. He was a pit/shep mix and until Tyler my girls picked and named any pets that came to live here. I never wanted to feel that sense of loss again. Until my d was born I always called him my only child.

Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen. Michael Jordan

We have two shelter cats these days. Originally Cali (aka Little Very Bad Girl) was my kitty and Luna was my hubby's...but the girls had their own ideas so now Cali is his girl and Luna is mine. Little Very Bad Girl demands that I pet her in the early morning after her breakfast, yells at me regularly, and always sits on the computer desk when I'm online, but hubby is the one she really loves and the only one who ever gets to rub her tummy these days. And Luna sleeps on my feet every night. Isn't it funny how these things go sometimes? emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

I still remember how we met: I was travelling in the Dominican Republic and went by a villa in Boca Chica to visit some new friends. They had three tiny puppies. The mother had gotten killed by a rottweiler when they were barely 2 weeks old and the wife was bottle-feeding the pups, who survived and were doing well, but were fearful of strangers.
But one of the little furry balls walked through the room and came to lay down on my foot. He followed me everywhere and I fell in love! Apparently, he was the most fearful. But that day he decided to adopt me. Lol.

I got him fake papers to say he was born and 'raised' in a vet office because he was too young for quarentine. He got vermifuged and got his first shots that day too. I also bought a soft-sided crate and he was leaving for Canada with me two weeks later! Since it was January, he spent the whole ride home inside my coat - probably wondering what the hell was he thinking when he chose me! Lol.

I never regret choosing him and bringing him with me. He is still a fearful dog because of his first experiences, but he is also very loving and a lot of fun!

“Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength.”

I think that a dogs eyes are so soulful. They are the closest things to heaven that we have on earth........just my thoughts.......as you can tell, I am completely smitten with my little pug Chloe. As for the rainbow bridge; I can't imagine letting her go, but I know some day I will have to.......and she will be romping and playing with all the other little pups.......even though I've only had her a few months, I am too attached for words.............I've got pug buttons that say I am the crazy pug lady..........I have...Merry Pugmas..........Please tell me that some of you out there are as insane for your pooch as I am............

When our greyhound, Kaleigh crossed the rainbow bridge we waited almost 2 years before looking for another grey. We still had a doxie and 4 cats so my husband hesitated. One day I went on line to the same adoption site that gave us Kaleigh and fell in love with the picture of Angel. Grumbling, David drove the almost 3 hours so I could see her. When entering the room, even though I had gotten on my knees to greet her, she walked right past me to him. Needless to say it was love at first sight--this was almost 2 years ago. Angel picked her new best friend and David is completely taken with her.

I agree about the eyes of a dog. Even though we have other pets, our cat does her own thing and will include you if SHE wants to. Our dog is always there by our side. He knows our moods or when we are sick. He gets me walking everyday and makes it a fun walk. With all this crazy snow we just got dumped, we go outside and play which tires me out but I think he could do it for hours. I don't know what a house would be like without a pet.

I don't know how people can live without the energy of animals around. That astounds me. To me, a home is not a home without a companion animal......be it cat, dog, ferret, etc.......Something seems to be "missing."

It's absolutly amazing what dogs can do.......or any animal for that matter. When I was a teen, I would grab the neighborhood irish setter (Goulosh) and we would go cruising together.......to McDonalds and just for rides..........I loved that dog. We also had a big ole dog named Candy........she was probably part Golden and something bigger. I did not have a dog in my life for maybe 30 years or so and really missed them. It's weird but if you look into the eyes of a dog; you can see a very intelligent soul. I feel that dogs are the closest energy to human energy.........but I'm sure alot of cat, bird, reptile lovers, etc.......feel the same way...........to me......my dog is my child and a great companion...........I've had maybe three other animals in my life that I felt really close to..............two cats and a rabbit..................but I'm pretty sure that Chloe my pug is my soul mate companion.......we found each other to accompany each other on part of our lifes journey.............she's a sweet sweet love.

I am primarily a dog person.I do like Siamese cats (probably because they act more like dogs) but I've never owned one.I raised 5 children and had 2 siblings so pets were a big part of our lives.I personally besides dogs had parakeets and even a pet hen Blackie.Guess what her color was? emoticon I own right now an almost 9 year old yorkie/maltese Baby.Who is a very mature doggie almost 9 and as I'm almost 76 myself he will be my last furry kid..My children had besides dogs and cats,a rooster named John, ducks and a couple of raccons. We lived in the country while they were growing up.Oh almost forgot another favorite pet of mine was Lotus Blosson the runt pig who I raised to be a large sow. That is it. emoticon

Glad you are back. I grew up with dogs, rabbits, pet ducks, and horses. Since being married we have a beautiful goldern retriever, a cat, parakeet and fish. It is funny to watch the cat watch the fish. Her head goes back and forth as they swim.

I rescued a Weimeraner from a rescue group in 2002 after my husband left me. He gave me support and uncondition love when I was down. Now I'm re-married and have kids and he gives all of us love and support. I love that dog!

Welcome back!

Hello.........I'm new here (again)..................I just wanted to say hello and see which animal companions that you have chosen to share your life with. I recently adopted a gorgeous little gal pug; a year old..........that was like 4 months ago. She has really changed my life.....it's amazing what an animal can bring to a home or single person. I grew up with dogs and cats and rabbits and when I got older, I aquired ferrets, rats, birds, etc...........Animal lover to the nines..........Chloe is the best little gal I've ever met. She was rescued from a bad situation/shelter where she was going to be put down.......but the rescuer passed away so she had to be fostered out........a nice lady took her in but could not keep her........so I was thrilled when I found her and we are a perfect match for each other........she is kinda crazy but can be very laid back.......just like me......................................Ha
ppy to be back with you all.

Bea
