Hi Everyone.

My name is Heidi, I am 26 years old and I live near San Antonio, TX.
I signed up with Spark People in April 2009 and never really became active on this site.
Well, I am ready now. After logged back in after all this time and further looking at the site I finally discovered the Spark Mail function. I have received almost 300 messages (no kidding) since I initially signed up and I just now read the first few. Now imagine I would have lost just half a pound for each message, I would have been way past my weight loss goal today... That is food for thought.
There is not a single day I want to waste anymore. I am ready to finally get healthy and happy with myself again. My time is now!
I have started losing weight on my own earlier this year which has been somewhat successful. I have lost some pounds, gained some pounds, lost some pounds again... This is due to my inconsistency in regards to diet, sleep, and mostly exercise. I have good days and bad days. Now I want to leave the bad days in the past.
So, yes, I am motivated. Staying on track is where I need to improve...

I am glad I found my way (back) to Spark People and to this team.

Hi I joined Spark People (and this team) back in April but I found the site too big and scary and never did anything here. I did start my diet though and lost 17 lbs, then I stopped for the Summer and put on 6 emoticon
I've restarted dieting and for the last week have been using the nutrition tool on Spark People, and am exploring the teams and other areas.

Anyway, I'm Heather from the Scottish Borders. I've got a load of weight to lose but am taking it one step at a time emoticon

I joined SP way back when, but then fell of the wagon for a while. Now I'm back and ready to kick it! :-) I backslid a bit, but didn't completely lose the ground I gained. So here's to a new start! emoticon

Hey everyone. I am Deepanjana. I live in Germany. I am 24 and a stay at home wife for now.
I got married last year and have put on about 8 kilos within this time. I heard about SP from my sister and joined in April, but I have only been using it for the last 4 days. I regret not starting earlier. It is very helpful. The workout demos are great for indoor exercises, especially when the weather outside is horrible. I am tracking my nutrition successfully enough but sometimes I go under my goals, but am learning! I am excited about getting back in shape and all the best to everyone else! emoticon

Hello!

I only just found this SP Class, after seeing that other folk were in Class Teams.

I'm going slowly on - have been quite good with the diet, but REALLY bad at getting out and exercising! Excuses include it's too cold/hot/rainy; I'm too busy/achy/basically unenthusiastic about it, but I need to get going now - as I said days ago! Hey ho - we'll see what tomorrow brings!!

I just realized I never introduced myself properly! I am a 56 year old married woman with no kids, but one furbaby (her picture is my profile photo). I worked for 35 years in corporate America, and then got a buy out that has enabled me to change careers. I am a real estate appraiser, specializing in commercial properties, and it is FUN! I am here because I need to take control of my health. I don't want to end up on a operating table for heart bypass, and I want to feel and look better. It has been close to 2 months, and I am still enthused about this! In fact, I am more committed every week.

I hope to see more of us posting - we have 15,000 folks who could be on this link!!

Hi all,

My name is Petra and I've just joined this team last week. For some reason I wasn't automatically enrolled. Maybe because I practised for about 2 weeks on the 'healthy lifestyle' before I changed the settings to 'Diet'. So far I've lost 11 pounds (9 left to go)

I guess you can safely say that I'm a little 'different' from most people. Aspergers's syndrome with a side of ADHD.

I tried joining Sparkpeople in 2005, but couldn't, because the only way to enrole from overseas is with a creditcard, which I didn't have at the time. When I finaly did get the creditcard, I found that the place had been free for quite a while. Shame I didn't find out sooner. Oh well, better late than never, I guess.

JSTCHLIN - Hey! My daughter turns three on May 17th! My daughter is Daddy's little princess. He was a SAHD to both our kids until last year. He really misses it. VERY sorry to hear you were hit in a hit and run! Yikes!

YMONTALVO - I spend a lot of time commuting too. And while I'm not a full-time single mom, I'm a "mostly" single mom. My husband is out of town 7 out of 9 days. So I promise it's possible to stay healthy with those limitations. As for the icecream... maybe it's time to get your kids into healthy eating habits too? Not cold turkey, but bit by bit. My kids eat frozen yogurt with me, but not often enought to derail my eating.

I finally found my class! My name is Mike and I am a stay at home Dad to a soon (May 25th) to be 3 year old girl. Yes she's Daddy's Little Princess. Hi, My name is Yasmin and I am a single mother of 2. I work in the NYC and spend a lot of time commuting. Good eating (hard with two kids who love icecream) and pilates have been the best regimen for me. Hi ALl,

I've just realised i've been jumping from one class week to another........oh well i don't suppose it matters really.

I have had a bad week after 3 good ones, so I intend to get back on track this week, I went to a beer festival for my boyfriend and had our works outing up river on a boat with all the supervisors making deserts. Well you can imagine how that ended so 2lbs back on but not for long glad your all here to watch me and for me to pour it all out to it makes it so much more important somehow, than just writing it down in a book, putting the book away and forgetting about the diet!!

Hi to all!

The doctors told me I had to lose weight before I could have a baby, so I went on the atkins diet and lost 75 lbs in 6 months. and then something happened that formed a major depression and now I am heavier then I was before. Hello everyone.

I'm 31 years old... I usually hover between 250 and 260 and recently my bad has been hurting so I am being re motivated to fit myself again. I also am tired of my clothes not quite fitting again.

I've gotten spurts of motivation in the past. I have started the Body for Life program 3 times. Each time I lost a decent amount of weight and gained some muscle, but never what I really wanted.

I am a singer in a chorus, and learning to play guitar. I have been an actor, and I'm really looking to get into performance again, so I also want to shape up my body so that I can be in a band.

Not just for the looks, but also for the power needed to cope with all of the stuff a band copes with.

I am ADHD and an emotional eater. It's more often the paperwork that kills everything for me. If I had a butler/cook, I'm sure I could stick to a diet and exercise program... But alas, I don't.

But I'm here, and I've documented what I've eaten today, and when I get off of work, I will go play racquetball, so I'm starting again.

You see my big goal... but my intermediant goal is to lose 10 percent of my body weight... so when I'm down to 234, I'm sure I'll start to feel better.

hi my name is Jackie and i am a single mom to a 8 month old.
I live in Plano, Texas with my parents since i got out of the military almost a year ago and didn't really have the funds to get my own place. we've been helping each other out though emoticon I recently got really fed up with my weight. gained almost 40 lbs in the past 2 years which i am at my heaviest ugh... so i've been really motivated to getting back on the right track as far as my health is concerned. seeing the look on my ex's face seeing me 40 lbs lighter is my main motivation for right now, lol. being healthy for my son is my motivation too and this site just helps me be more educated about health and fitness and keeping me focused emoticon .I'll definately try to hang around and to post often emoticon

First post I've made here....started this journey on April 8th, with the goal of being 168 by the end of August from a starting weight of 188. Have been tracking what I eat and have exercised every day. The exercising part is a big accomplishment for me because I used to hate to exercise but now find myself looking forward to it!!! I also joined curves and do their circuit at least 3x a week. Have told myself I am not going to weigh in till my first weight in appointment at Curves which will be on or around May 10th. Happy just knowing that I am exercising and sooner of later it will all be worth it and not to look for immediate results. emoticon

Hi, I am Katey. I need to lose enough weight so that I am no longer "obese" to have a baby. This is a self-imposed absolute. I know plenty of people have healthy babies when they are obese, but I am 40 and I am just not someone who can add those kind of risks when i should just lose the weight.

I live in Denton, TX. I am happily married and we are both determined to be healthy and active for our kids. Even if we end up adopting, we want to be as healthy and active as we can.

I was initially (as of last week, when I rejoined SP) gonna work on the weight loss using the Paul McKenna "I Can Make You Thin" method, but i have decided that I will go back to counting calories, as of tomorrow (today! It is after midnight!)

So, I'm off to bed. Have to be up for my workout in the AM!

Hey everyone! I'm Meredith. I live in South Dakota. I have two children, a 4 year old and a 20 month old. I sell real estate full time and own a food business (don't worry, mostly healthy!). I actually really enjoy exercise and eat a healthy diet, but two kids and two jobs keeps me busy.

I was on the right track after having my second child, then I weaned him and had a leg surgery last fall and the weight crept back on. I'd gain motivation to work out for a week or two, then that would fade as my life got in the way. I just started adult soccer again this week and I'm hoping that extra activity plus joining this site will be the combination I need to start the scale in the other direction. I have about 25-30 pounds to lose. I don't know how realistic that is since the last time I was in the 130s was pre-kids and I wasn't very healthy.

Nice to meet some of you! I hope everyone well in their journeys!

Thank you for all the welcomes I have received. My name is Anita and I just found this website by accident. I was trying to find a calorie counter. Only three days and I have been on it constantly. I am a mother of 2 and have 8 grandchildren. I'm in the computer technology field.
My goal is to lose 30 pounds which will put me at 150. I lost 20 pounds about a year ago and maintained that until January. Then went on a low carb, low fat crummy diet and lost 23 more pounds. I lost on that diet but it meant, no sweets, bread, potatoes, fruit and just impossible to stay one. And from what I have read on this site, not very healthy.
I look forward to hearing all of you stories and getting to know all of you.

I am also enjoying my 50s like crazy. Harder to lose weight but mentally, I am so relaxed.

Hello everyone, I am just getting familiar with the awesome website. There is so much it offeres I'm getting a little overwhelmed.

I am 23 years old and am getting married in June. I would really like to lose about 20 pounds by then. I just had my second son about 8 months ago and I have a two year old son also. Lots of going on around here you would think I would be able to keep the pounds off, but I am an emotional eater so when I am stressed I eat.

Needlesss to say, I am stressed all the time so food always calls me. But now I am putting my foot down and taking a stand to become healthier.

Hi Everyone,

Joined yesterday but just realised that i hadn't put an introduction on here.

I'm Sharon, 38, single and live in the North West of the UK. Been overweight for quite a while and never really dieted before.

Decided in January to start loosing some weight and eat, be healthier. I tend to be good at times and then not so good - especially if the online shopping order has just been done or came as it's so easy (for me anyway) to put things in that you don't normally buy (purely by avoiding the aisles) when i shop via the internet.

Another reason is the family history of diabetes type 2 with dad, sister, aunt and a twin brother who all are diabetic and some of whom have high blood pressure problems etc.

What will motivate me - replies from others here and i promise to do my bit motivating others as well.

Don't beat yourself up so much.
I know your feeling. I've been here more than once too. I've been on yoyo dieting for 10 years now. I shrink and expand like a baloon. 40 pounds up then 40 pounds down. I did that for 4 or 5 times. Now I decided to shrink back and never expand again.
I'm here to help you if you need any help. Being here is the first step to reach your goal. Just go easy on yourself. Do the three fast break goals and read the strategies carefully. Follow them letterally as much as you can. Try to fit these new habits in your daily routine.
The most important thing is to write your goals down and repeat them every day as if they're already done. This gives the right message to your sub-concious. This makes you really do it.
I'll give you an example, for a goal you need to achieve.
I'm so happy and grateful to be at my ideal weight of 115. I feel very healthy and active. I look great on my new tiny clothes.

Reading this for two times or more each day really motivates you. You can set any goal you like and talk to yourself as if this happened already. Dream. Close your eyes and see yourself thinner. Do that often and I assure you that you will succeed.

Hi, All....I am soooooooo happy to have found this site. I'm 72 and have over 100 very fluffy pounds to slither off this bod of mine. I'm tired of hauling them around.
You youngsters (anyone under 55) keep that weight down now, so you don't turn out to be the heaviest in your retirement community. :)

hi! i just joined spark yesterday and i'm looking forward to losing the 50+ pounds that my doctor said i should lose. i am 35, married with a 9 yr old daughter, 4 cats, a pet bird and a hamster. i live in upstate ny and am currently unemployed. i can use all the help i can get with my diet and weight loss program. i've tried a few other diets, including dexatrim, slimfast, and just not eating, but nothing worked for me. i'm really hoping this site helps me keep track of my diet and exercise and all that, and maybe make a few friends along the way. happy easter everyone and have a great weekend!

Hi! My name is MJ and I live in NJ. I have a husband, a son and two dogs. I am desperate to lose weight and get healthy. I am shy, unsure and I have no clue how to accomplish this goal so any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Where do I begin? I just went grocery shopping this morning and then joined this site ... have to wait till next paycheck to go shopping again to get the food on the suggested list for dieting ... now what? I just found Sparkpeople this week and have been absolutely loving it. I'm hoping to get back on track and be able to run a 5k in a month or two. I currently live in WI where the snow is melted (!!!) but it's still kind of chilly. At least the tulips are starting to come up. :)

Other people's stories and pictures really motivate me, so I hope this website will be a great tool!

Hello, my name is Cherese. I'm a mother of a beautiful 5yr old little girl. I've been ill for 3yrs now but within the past year I've spent most of my time in the house with very little activity. Needless to say I have packed on the pounds. I've never dieted before and have very little support in this journey. I'm hoping that I can find the support and motivation here. Hi!! My name is Gina and I live in San Francisco, CA. I am a lawyer, and I just turned 28 years old. I have ALWAYS had a weight issue. I lost the weight on a few occasions, but every time I did it, it was by following a very drastic no-carb diet...it worked (and FAST) but as soon as I stopped the diet, I would go crazy eating everything in sight! So of course, the weight is back and I have become determined to do something different and permanent. I'm getting healthy and thin before I turn 30 (hopefully WAY before!)... My name is Carrie. I live in New Jersey!I have a wonderful, supportive husband and fabulous friends and family! i am here because i need to get my butt into gear! i am one of those people that will do sooo good for a bit then i hit a wall and eat everything in sight! i need to stop that awful habit! my goals are to become more active and attend classes at the gym a few days a week. i would also like to change my lifestyle with food. i think since i currently have NO control over my favorite foods (pasta, icecream, etc, i would like to practically eliminate them for now until i can gain self control. i do not know how to eat one portion of pasta or a handful of sweedish fish. i eat them until i dont feel good then i feel like a failure! i am hoping that my dedication to this site will help me achieve them. the best way to motivate me is simply asking me why i am here will remind me of all of the little reasons that add up to one big reason...my health!

My name is Maureen and I learned about this site from a co-worker at work. Her daughter is on this program and has lost about 65 lbs. over this past year and her day to day stories about her have just inspired me to get going with my own weight problem. I also have diabetes (type II) and I take a pill each day to help monitor it. However, I have been feeling lousy this past year and I know I need to get serious about monitoring my blood/sugar levels, etc. I really am more eager to just feel better and I know in doing that, that the weight loss will obviously make me look better too. I have had much digestive problems this year, too and just feel like I honestly don't know what to eat these days. I have been told that I may have IBS and so I have been doing some reserch on that, however, I'm not entirely convinced that IBS is my whole problem. Life is just hard right now as to what to eat and my life has changed drastically the last 6 months as I met a nice man and I got married. My lifestyle has changed as he likes to take me out to eat a lot and I know that eating out is not helping me with my diabetes and maintaining a healthy diet. I'm taking in too much sugar and carbs when eating out. I know what I am doing wrong and yet I can't seem to entirely stop this ridiculous cycle we are on. I am hoping this site will help to keep me on track.
