Hi Everyone!
SP has helped me immensely! I've lost 80 lbs (actually 90 but then put 10 back on). I love the way everyone on this site is so supportive and have such positive outlooks. But realistically as a team leader of the SP Class of January 18-24, 2009, I think our team challenges need revamping. This may happen soon if members of the color groups do not seem to care. I'm thinking of making challenges more individualized with publicizing individual totals for the year. If you have suggestions, feel free to let me know!

This post is to say welcome to all members who are still coming in and introducing themselves here! We welcome you and wish to do whatever we can to help you achieve your goals.
You are invited to join a color group in the "General Team Discussion Forum", and then join us in our monthly challenges (see the "Challenges and Weigh-Ins! Forum").
Again, welcome! And, if you have any questions, feel free to send me a note.

Hi! My name is Dee.
I joined SP Jan 21,09. I have lost 20 pounds so far. The weight is coming off slowly-as it should. I am in a big truck with my hubby who is an over the road driver. I do paperwork, cook, sweep the trlr, call brokers, etc. In general I'm a stepandfetchit. Cardio is hard for me to get seeing as how we run 500-660 miles a day and most days we don't stop except to fuel. So it's a challenge.

Hi all. I started a fitness plan in Jan. and found spark which has been a tremendous help. I haven't done much posting on the boards, but I feel like I'm losing some of my motivation and everyone seems to help each other here. I hope to make some new friends and connect with people who are facing some of the same weight and fitness issues and to gain motivation by taking on some of the challenges.

Hello, Team. I actually joined the team in mid-January, but really didn't have a heck of a lot to say on any of these forums ... so no posts.
I'm a 47 year old, father of two grown daughters. I joined SP at the prompting of my boss, who has lost nearly 50 lbs. I have high cholesterol and had an extremely sedentary lifestyle. Since joining, I've lost 8 lbs and almost 4% body fat. I haven't had a cholesterol screening ... that'll be interesting to see.
I've found that having meal plans and a way to track what I'm eating and how much exercise I'm getting really helps me stick with this. My doctor wanted me down to around 135 lbs. I haven't weighed that little since high school. My nutritionist says 150 is a little more realistic and much more attainable. I like the way she thinks. If I hit 150 ... maybe 135 isn't that far out.
My ultimate goals here are to get off of Zocor ... permanently ... to be able to play with my greatgrandkids (I don't even have grandkids yet!) and to live a much healthier lifestyle.
Thanks for listening!

Welcome BKMNursing!!! If there ever was a reason to lose weight that is a great one!! That would be one of the hardest parts of being a parents. My oldest had fairly simple surgery on his mouth twice and I was panic stricken. I can't imagine what you have gone through.
You can lose weight and I'm sure everyone here will support you!! Send me a message if you need to I'll try to help you stay on track!! (I'm just getting going again myself.)

Hello everyone, I just joined this team page this morning!! I am just found this team, I should have joined here the first day. I have joined Sparkpeople because I need to lose my weight so I can donate a Kidney to my Princess Amelia. She is 2.5 years old and has a rare form of kidney failure, she is supported by dialysis. Due to the Kidney problems we had to remove both of her kidneys to avoid cancer.
I gained so much weight while she was in the hospital 2 years ago that I need to lose it before I can donate a kidney. While she was in the hospital, I discovered I was a stress chocolate eater! It took a lot of chocolate to put up with 9 surgeries (one lasting over 9 hours), And many hours in the ICU at the Children's hospital.
My Princess Amelia has dialysis 4-5 times a week 5 hours a time, to keep her entertained she watches MICKEY MOUSE movies the entire time. She loves "Mouse" and "Goof" (Goofy).
I would love any help I can get to achieve my goal weight so I can donate my kidney. Check out my SparkPage, if you can help me.
If you want to read more about my baby and see more photos check out her care page at WWW.Carepages.com Page name "AmeliaRoseMatthews"
Thank you

Welcome FLMOMMY! Congratulations on taking the first step and that is to commit to coming back to SP and making the positive change for your life. I joined in January 2009 and have been at it for 3 weeks. I have not gotten on the scale, as I refuse to for the first 2 months, but I did cheat and measure one part of myself, my waist, and I have lost 1 inch! That's in 3 weeks! So utilizing all the tools SP has to offer definitely helps. Oh, did I mention that I also quit smoking a week before joining SP? LOL.....so I'm making huge life changes now. You will be happy you came back and will make a wonderful change in your life. Let me know if you need encouragement or a push....I'm always an email away.
God Bless! ~stormie008~

Hello everyone!! My name is Christy I have 3 fabulous children!! 7 (boy), 4 (girl), and 19 months (girl). My divorce was final just shortly after my middle daughter was born. I lost like 30 pounds and was okay at like 160? I stayed there for a little over a year and Surprise there was baby #3, I'd love to blame my weight on her but I left the hospital weighing less than I did when I got pregnant.
Anyway I'm back at 187 which is just 2 pounds shy of my heaviest weight and I REFUSE to go back there!!!
I found this site in Feb of 08 and signed up but didn't do much of anything so I'm back and HAVE to make it work this time!! My kids are supportive (you know in that little kid way) my fiance tries to be but he's 6'6 and weighs like 220 yet he eats enough to feed a small country. He doesn't get my weight struggle...

Hi All! I joined SP on January 22, 2009 and this is a great place. I wish I would have known about SP in 2006. I shed 75 pounds back then and gained it all back. I can't do that again so I am very happy to have found SparkPeople.

I joined SP a couple of years ago, but I wasn't really motivated at the time. I only checked in for a few days and then forgot about it...until last month, when some friends suggested creating a group here. So I consider 1/22 to be my real join date. ;)
I'm 36, a mother of one (4 yrs old). I hate dieting! I'm horrible at following specific diets - so I've given it up. In the past, I've lost weight via intense exercise (and occasionally dieting) but then I'd get injured and the whole thing would fall apart. Now I have FMS and it seems to take very little to injure myself, but I keep plugging along and trying to figure out what combination of mild exercise and self-made diet will work for me. At this point, it's hard to imagine actually losing 50+ pounds. I'd love to weigh even less...but that's not something I think about right now. I just take one day at a time and try to keep moving the right direction. I really have to do this or my quality of life is going to be really horrid as I get older. Plus I'd really like to look hot on the beach for once in my life. ;)

I am back again also. I originally joined in Jan 07. I loved it then, got distracted and have come back to this place to be successful. I am 57 and my user name says it all - for my heart. I have played around too long, numbers have now gotten into the 'you need meds to control this' stage and now I am taking control of this life long struggle. I have 51 pounds to lose and am taking my daily goals seriously. Let's see this class rock!

Hellooo. I forgot to post here when I joined!
My name is Michelle, I'm 21, and I weigh too much! I'm trying to lose 100 pounds. I'm not really in a rush, but I don't want the loss to take a million years, either. That's pretty much why I joined sparkpeople. It's definitely going to help me stick to my plan.
I don't really know what else to say, so I'll end this here. Good luck class of Jan 18-24, 2009! :)

My join date is from 2 years ago, but I never got into the site back then. By chance one of the occasional updates that would email me caught my attention. For some reason, this time the site seemed to stick. I joined, told my sister about it and she joined an we are both enjoying the site a lot.
I've had a LOT of health related changes in my life over the last year and as a result I'm really at a slow start. I just keep checking in here ever day, read, browse or simply be reminded of my goals and it is starting to put me in a better frame of mind to turn things around.
Very excited to get going and wish everyone lots of luck!

Hi I`m Rosemary, 24 and very overweight... I no longer fit into my old clothes and had to get a completely new wardrobe...i lost some weight in may but gained it all back when i started my new job at a fast food restuarant. My goal is to lose weight and keep it off, but i`m really scared that i won`t drop those pounds as easily as the last time. However ,no matter what my scale tells me ..i`m going to keep working out.

I can't say that I felt overweight until about 15 years ago. Then slowly I noticed that I was starting to grow out of my clothes. When I finally realized I couldn't blame by tight jeans on the dryer, I admitted I needed to lose weight - a concept totally foreign to me when I was younger. I have set a weight-loss goal of 20 pounds because I have more muscle mass than I did back then due to core and strength training. My goal isn't so much a number as it is good health. I know I'll never be slender like I was in my 20s, but I can accept that. I just want to be able to do the things I enjoy for as long as I can.

Hi everyone! I joined on 1/20/09, and have about 36 pounds that I need to lose. I lost my job at the end of August of last year, and since then, have put on this weight while sitting here going through job boards. Wow, it happened fast! So now I'm working to lose it all. And 1/13/09 was the last day that I had a cigarette. Can I legally sell this last carton in a garage sale? It has never been opened........ hmmmm.......
Good luck to us all!!!

Hi all! I am Stacy, 31, married mother of two little boys and hoping to lose about 50 pounds by Christmas. Before getting pregnant with my oldest I lost 100 lbs and literally about a month after hitting my goal weight there was that positive on the pregnancy test! I took advantage of that whole eating for two philosophy and gained 60 lbs my first pregnancy. Lost about 25 and then got pregnant again. Did a little better during my 2nd pregnancy and gained about 30 lbs. I have barely lost any of that weight and my "baby" is going to be 3 this summer. So time to get my butt in gear. So far I am loving Spark People and looking forward to making lots of new friends.

Hello Everyone!
My Name is Dana Villarreal and I am a 28 year old stay at home mother of three wonderful children. Tekel-12, Antonio-3 and Sesilia-1. Over the last 8 years i have been putting weight on and taking it off over and over again but haven't been motivated enough to do something about it. I just recently became a stay at home mother this past year and have consistently put on pounds each month. I worked for a WONDERFUL Home Based company that awarded me and 50 other Top producers an all expense paid vacation to Playa Del Carmen Mexico and well.........now I have the motivation!!! I want to loose 23 pounds by May 14th! Wish me luck!!!!

Hi y'all! My name is Monica and I have 50+ pounds to lose. Wow - I actually said it. I joined last week but am just now getting to introducing myself. So here I am at SP hoping this time I'll take it off and not have to do this anymore. I know all the rules about eating because I've been on Weight Watchers and Adkins and South Beach and and and... I just have to follow them and that's the hardest part of all.
So, about me - I'm 51, going back to college (on-line classes started last week), a teachers aide at the local elementary also their web-designer and secretary, I have a 21 yo son who is my payback and my hubby of 25 years. We live in the country so getting to the road is 1/5 a mile walk - which I need to start doing. We have 2 dogs, Allis (4) - who has exploratory surgery tomorrow on her tummy (1 of my emotional stessors this week) and will hopefully come home, and Casee (13) who is always by my side & should probably walk with me to lose weight too.
So now you know about me. I can't wait to chat with y'all and get to know everyone.
Monica

Hi! I'm Kristen and I just joined late last night. I am 20 and in college in Maryland.
Last summer I lost a lot of weight, and I managed to keep it off for a few months... until I lost track of everything around the end of the semester. So I joined this so I can try to get back to where I was, and hopefully lose a little bit more! I need to lose 30lbs to get to where I was in august, and I want to lose about 10 or so more after that if I can... :)

Hi! i'm Karisa and just joined SP last night. So, this morning (or now the afternoon), i've been trying to get a feel for everything that is on here! there is so much awesome stuff!
i've been gaining weight my whole life slowly. i've never been happy with my weight and have always had to drop a few pounds. this time, I'M GOING TO DO IT!!! My goal is 150...so I have abut 70 pounds to lose.
I'm from Minnesota, but i'm currently going to school in Idaho. i have no idea why i'm in idaho...there are A LOT of small towns! but i only have a year left of school (i'll be student teaching next jan then i'll be done)!!! i'm majoring in ealry childhood/special education.

Hi! Some info about me: I'm Krystyna from MI and am turning 22 next week. I am a senior in college and am starting optometry school in August. I've been on one diet or another since I was 12, but I can never stick with it due to nighttime hunger attacks!
I have a lot of weight to lose but haven't exactly set an ultimate goal # yet. My first big goal is to get under 200 pounds. I'm hoping to reach that sometime this summer. I look forward to "meeting" all of you and sharing our successes!
My name is Nancy. I gained 5 pounds over November and December, and this time I wanted to stop it before it became 15. Weight loss gets harder every time, and as I will by 50 this year I want to take care of it for good. My husband and I started on the Chefsdiet food delivery plan 2 weeks ago. I have lost the 5 pounds I gained and I want to lose 10 more pounds.
The meal delivery plan is great, but it is not a long term lifestyle. I think SP will provide me with the tools to improve my health for the long term. I saw in People magazine that a woman lost a lot of weight using SP so I checked out the site and really liked it.
Now if I could figure out how to do a ticker I'd be set!

Hi. I'm Fran, and I just joined yesterday. There is so much on this site, I'm not sure where to begin. I was looking for a free substitute for the weight watchers plan, which I tried briefly last year. I've been gaining weight for a couple years now, and want to STOP gaining, and return to a healthy weight.

Hi Guys! My name is Shannon and I am a 4th year veterinary student. My weight was never a huge issue until I joined vet school.. then things got out of control! I have around 80-85 pounds to lose, but I also want to tone my muscles and become more fit in general. I lost 40 pounds 2 years ago but I put it all back on... and then some! I'm am stoked to be on Sparkpeople and I love this site. I am getting engaged this spring to my bf of 7 years, so an upcoming wedding is also a great incentive to lose weight!

My name's Milinda. Since 2006 I've dropped from 311 to 166.6 this morning. NO gastric by pass. But I haven't been able to exercise much, and so 1) I'm at a plateau I've been at for about 6 months, and 2) I have loose muscles everywhere. I hope to correct that this year. If I lose more in the process, great!
Oh, and I'm at Little Rock, Arkansas.

Hi everyone...I'm not brand new to this.... About 18 months ago, I set out on SP for the first time and lost about 25 pounds. Well, I gained it back after I quit utilizing the resources here and quit being accountable (oh, and quit SP). So, here I sit, back at 198 with a wedding quickly approaching in October.
I'm 24 and live in the midwest, near St. Louis. I hate cold weather because it impedes me from enjoying the outdoors. I lost the weight the first time by running, doing pilates/yoga, and also have a total gym. My fiance bought me a Wii Fit for Christmas and I LOVE it. I've been engaged for a year and a half and we're planning our wedding for October of this year.

I am new to this and have been nothing but happy and smiling since I joined up! What a fun way to lose weight!
I am nearly 50, in between jobs, and waiting for my husband to transfer to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, next week. We have 3 cats. I am a vegetarian. I am studying to become a high school social sciences teacher. My ultimate goal is to be a reading specialist.
I have 60+ pounds to lose.

What a great idea for a team! I am currently a SAHM to two boys, ages 10 & 6. I am an elementary teacher by trade and want to get back into the trenches next fall. I need to get myself back into shape and need some motivation. Why is often so hard for women/mothers to put their own selves first?! I have been guilty of that by making no time for excercise & eating too much. This will motivate me on my journey!

hey my name is angie, i am from Terry MS. i thought i would give this a shot. i hope i can meet alot of buddies that can relate to the fat girl. i am having a great time trying to figure all this stuff out. i really need some help keeping myself on track. i am 37 years old and have decided that my weight is controlling me. my weight keeps me from doing so many things that i love to do. i love to ride horses but its gotten to hard to pull my big tail on the horse, not to mention poor dakota having to carry me around. i have a great husband and 2 wonderful kids. i would love to talk to some people in the same boat.

Hi, my name is Dorea..I'm getting ready to turn the big Three-Oh in March. I'd like to have lost at least 10 lbs by then if at all possible. I'm hoping some exercise will help with that.
I probably gained 10 pounds this past Christmas break due to a family emergency that had me stressed out and eating all the wrong things. Plus my job has been stressful recently.
A friend on Facebook recommended this place to me so I figured it couldn't hurt to try!

Hi,
I'm Andrea and even though I had joined SP a while back, I unfortunately stopped. So I made a new commitment this week to get healthy and to lose some weight.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Jennifer. I am a 39 year old Canadian mother of 2 (ds=11 yo, dd=8yo). I want to lose about 60 lbs by the end of the summer (or sooner?).
A couple of years ago, I lost close to 40 lbs, but put it back on. Luckily, I did not go over that point!
I am going south in March and I don't want to have to buy a whole new wardrobe. I am hoping I can squeeze into some of my old clothes! Maybe 15-20 lbs by then?
I have joined Herbal Magic - it is very expensive, but I have heard good things from several people. As long as I work hard, I know I will be successful. The trick will be to keep the weight off, but if I make small changes now, introduce good habits, and continue to weigh in even if I get nervous or discouraged, I know I can do it!

Hi all, I'm Harriette. I am currently at 206 (gained alot of weight during pregnancy) and am hoping to get down to 125 by the winter holiday season. I would love to drop below 200 by my son's birthday at the end of Feb. I am looking forward to getting to know some of you and help each other along the way!

Hi everyone, I'm Kim. I am very excited to find a place that doesn't make you pay to improve your life. I want to lose 15lbs. But even more I want to get back into a healthy lifestyle. I am hoping everything else will fall into place. I have been reading everyone's intros and everyone seems to have their heart in this. We can all do this with a little help, hardwork and motivation. Good luck to everyone!

Hello, everyone! My name is Theresa. I'm 25, I live in Cotonou, Benin (West Africa). I'm super-geeky and love technology (or maybe that's redundant, I don't know). I love West Africa, but fresh palm oil, 3 meals of simple carbs a day, and spending all day programming sure don't seem to love my waistline!
With a wedding a few months away, I'm finally getting motivated to start getting fit again.
I'm really excited to meet you all! We seem very diverse, and I can't wait to get to know everyone better!
