Sadly we never ended meeting up. She ended up not feeling well, then bad weather kept hitting, and since then have not been in contact. Guess it was not fated to be. I now walk down to Howe Park on my own and then do the loop and walk back home, and I also walk my neighborhood and walk over to Noah's Bagels and get coffee and walk back.... getting used to walking alone, though it would be very nice to have a walking buddy.
Oh that is perfect... I am awake early, and unless I have an appointment still in my pjs till noon most days... so it is all good. Fibro makes me a slow starter. I get my tea, my toast, jump on here/facebook etc and putter around the kitchen/house and then finally get dressed... well attempt to, some days it does not happen cause of the way clothing can be very uncomfortable for me. I shall indeed remind you Tuesday night both via a email and spark mail if you like. It is nice to have plans, life has been so stressful and depressing in the last three weeks with the sudden death of my son in law and so to have plans that do not include something dealing with that is grand. Have a wonderful Sunday.
The park sounds great! I have never been there but it sounds perfect and the weather is supposed to be in the 70's all week. I rarely get up and about before 10 or 11am, is that too late for you? It's usually too cold before then, but I can get up whenever you want me to be there. Wednesday sounds good! Please remind me the night before, because I tend to forget a lot until it's too late:)
Howe Park is sandwiched between Bell and Howe ave and then Cottage Avenue. across the street from the side of the Home Depot on Howe. I usually park on the Bell St. Side. It is a lovely park full of trails, there is a large fishing pond and loads of ducks and squirrels etc... it is a little piece of heaven for this nature loving gal in the middle of a busy city area. Might have to walk the trails a couple of times to get the time /mileage in, but that is not a bad thing. I have only walked half the trails as I did not explore the Howe side of it, but found it easy and relaxing. We can always switch it up from time to time if there is places near you and then there is always the Arden Mall when the weather is not allowing.... two laps on the upper level is close to one mile.
I guess we can plan for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I hear about the taking one day at a time. With fibro it is the same...some days are just Pj days LOL But, I wake early most days thanks to our noisy old cat who demands it , grab my tea and toast and turn on the computer as well, so easy for me to get a message the day of, and I can be ready and there in minutes...once I wake up and get that toast and tea in me LOL
Wednesday at any time would be better this week as Tuesday I am waiting for a shipment that should arrive... although if it comes early enough I can still of course make a walk after lunch on Tuesday. here is my email addy email@example.com
I work from midnight to 8am, Thursday and Friday, so any other day would be fine. I don't mind driving so I can meet you somewhere by your place. I have never been to Howe Park, but if it is good for walking, we can meet there? I have to take one day at a time, so whenever you feel up to walking, just send me a sparkmail or an email: firstname.lastname@example.org, and I can probably come over:) I will sleep all day Friday and Saturday due to work though:) I check my email every morning, then again in the evening usually, and I do my sparking in the morning, so I will see it right away.
Oh great! I actually would still have to use a gps to find your area LOL ...we have only been here since the end of December, and I only know my bubble ending at Watt one way and Arden the other and Howe the other LOL , past that I get lost!
Good for you getting out! Oh and for getting through the chemo etc! I was getting out 7 days a week for 2-3 miles or more a day when we lived in Roseville, in fact rarely drove.. I so miss being able to do that.. I tried here, but the lack of sidewalks and the traffic is awful! I tried a couple of times and cause of a bad sinus infection, and a bad bout of anemia as well, then a fibro flair, well I simply gave up. I had finally ventured out again to Howe Park, only a mile and a half from where I live and took a lovely stroll and planned to do it a few times a week and then we had a death in the family and the rain and well here we are....
My Mom reads the authors that you do. I tend to read only the cozy mysteries , English and American settings, think Murder She Wrote as something to compare them to. I find them a great escape and an easy read, and well very relaxing. I also read some fictional historical novels and a few bio's of stars from the 1920's/30's. I hear you on the mindless TV, that often is my background noise to drown out the traffic noise ( we live on a very busy corner) . Top that off with loads of internet time and as mentioned the bottom line is spreading.
Only days I am not able to get away is Thursdays and Sundays as that is my husbands day off. My girls work a lot too, so they do not come see me a whole lot... at times the youngest will come on Mondays... if she has laundry LOL So I can walk most days. I do not mind if you bring your dog... will leave that up to you. When and where would you like to meet?
HI MsRuby! I live off Fair Oaks near Manzanita, not too far from you. I am 59 years old and I walk about 30 minutes everyday (almost). I would love to meet you and go for walks once or twice a week. I am recovery from a year of chemo and radiation and just started back to work but I only work on-call, which is about 2 days (or nights) a week. All I do is sit within these 4 walls and watch mindless television shows and sleep. I have 3 grown children that are close to your age, 39,38, and 34 that live really close by, but they all 3 work a lot. I also love reading mysteries, especially James Patterson and Dean Koontz, those are my 2 favorites. I have a little yorkie mix mutt, that loves to walk also, but I wouldn't have to bring her if you didn't want me to because I walk her almost everyday for a mile. I've only had her a little while but she is a very good dog:)
Hi Everyone... I am not new to Spark, though I have been hit and miss in being here on the site on and off for years. I am however new to the Arden Arcade area... live off of Marconi. I used to live in Roseville/Rocklin area. I am having a hard time adjusting to the area, and so my weight, which I was maintaining with plenty of walking when we lived in Roseville, has gone up again, as there just is not a lot of sidewalks in my area and I find it hard to motivate to get in the car and go to one of the parks that are very close by when I have to go by myself. I am hoping someone here lives close to me and perhaps we can meet 1-2x a week and walk... maybe meet for coffee once in a while or just go window shopping or out for a healthy lunch once in a while. Life is too short to sit alone in the four walls as much as I do. Though I do not drive that much, due to neck issues, so would really like to keep meeting places in the Arden Arcade area.
A little bit about myself... I am 46 years of age. Don't let my age scare you, I do not care how old or young you are. It is about making a connection. I am a wife, mother to three grown girls, I do not work due to having fibromyalgia and various other health issues.... not that I let that stop me from living. I enjoy writing my blog ( a life blog) , remodeling and decorating our new to us cottage, window shopping, reading Cozy Mysteries, surfing the internet, going wine tasting and going on Sunday drives with my husband.
