Welcome!

I'm new here too today is my 1 week anniversary! :) I really love SparkPeople -- its the first time I've felt accomplished instead of defeated from the start. The food tracker (I use the phone app) was live changing for me and I found this out the very first day. I'm discovering new and helpful things on the site everyday; I hope you find them too.

Hello Katie and welcome to the team. Spark people is a great place, and there are so many people who will help you stay motivated. You can do it just start slow and add new things one at a time. Before long you will be changing with leaps and bounds.

Hi everyone! My name is Katie and I'm brand new to SparkPeople. I'm still learning about the site but I am excited to be here. I am excited about the community here at SparkPeople- I was nervous to post, but I know that I need the accountability. I never had to worry about my weight in high school because I was so active, but once I started college I started gaining weight. It's been 8 years since high school, and I've steadily gained. I've never successfully lost more than 5 pounds- I always get discouraged and give up. I hope that the accountabillity of SparkPeople will help me keep going this time. I am so ready to be healthy- I'm sick of feeling tired all the time. I have about 60 pounds to lose, which seems very daunting. I am ready to make some serious changes to my lifestyle.

Other than my weight loss, I'm also interested in knitting, reading, and my dogs. I work at an elementary school and am planning to get my alternative teaching certificate. I look forward to getting to know some awesome SparkPeople!
