You know what? I don't have the same obstacles as you, but I sure have the same challenges and responses. I'm trying to pick 1 bad habit to get rid of, or 1 good habit to do or improve each month, and keep adding on until I have the lifestyle I need to get the results I want.
Would you want to become accountable buddies? Like do interval walking/jogging for 30 minutes at 4pm on Mon, We, Fri, or do 15 jumping jacks at 6am every day, we do it together at the same time and log it on our Sparkpages. I could use the help!
Start with taking one day at a time. Make baby steps. Set small, yet achievable, goals each day/week. (Only 1 breadstick today; walk 15 minutes, etc.) Think about taking the baby for a walk in the stroller BEFORE work! It will help you keep motivated not to eat those delicious bread sticks! One of things I find most discouraging is when I eat right and exercise but no weight loss. Those are my challenge days and the days I come to SparkPeople for my motivation! You CAN do this!

It was fun putting on the weight, now I am trying to make it "fun" to take the weight off. Yesterday I was exhausted after work and wanted to go straight home, but I stopped at the gym and did 20 minutes on the elyptical. I had all my energy back! I think that is what we have to remember. The energy burst that taking a walk brings us. I am hoping the more I exercise - the weight will start coming off.
This is just the begining of your life.. so don't get down on yourself.. you have plenty of time to get fit and lose the weight, the trick is to do it in the right order. I know how hard it is but the first thing you must do is to get your eating in check. Don't snack.I know how hard that sounds ..and I know that I haven't had as much weight to lose as a lot of people on spark but losing is still HARD !! Once you have gotten the snacking under control and use the calories you have on the best foods for you things will get easier. You say you played soccer so that's definately in your favor. I had never been able to jog or run at all because I couldn't catch my breath but six plus years ago I just stopped smoking cold turkey and it opened up a whole new world for me.. so don't worry about the running..just concentrate on the miles... I know it's hard to find the energy after work to keep moving because the thought is that you've done so much there that you must have burned calories..and you did..but that's the exact reason you have to keep going... once your body starts to work it's hardest the more you do afterward the more you burn..it just keeps that furnace working overtime and you'll start to see results . Also, if you are able to do some miles after work you can do isometrics as you walk instead of working out at a gym right now.. You must be so busy between work and the new baby and this can relieve some of the stress since you don't have to think, just walk..lol You didn't gain the weight overnight..don't expect it to disappear in a week..but mostly don't get down on yourself.. there's plenty of people who can just drop weight in a few days but they don't realize the day will come when that doesn't happen anymore..or the others that skip a few meals to fit into those jeans but being slim doesn't always mean you're healthy.. Keep up the effort and email me if you need to vent.. lol

I'm a mother of a 4 and a half month old little boy and live in West Virginia. I don't know what to do anymore. I keep trying to lose weight but just can't get it to click. Every weigh in I have a bigger number and now I am more than I ever weighed before. Last week I went walking/jogging 2.5 miles 2 days, tried to watch what I ate but gained weight. A big problem I have is where I work. I work at a Fazoli's restaurant, and for those who are unfamiliar with the Fazoli's franchise let me tell you it's CARB HEAVEN. There's garlic breadsticks there for all the snacking I want during work, and it's so hard to say no. I'm dealing with a lot of stress at home too and wish I could use going out to walk/run as an excuse to get out but I just don't have the energy for it.. I also get so discouraged when there are bigger people than me who are running, older people who are running, and it seems as though everyone passes me too. I'm 22 years old and am in horrible shape. How did this happen? I went from playing soccer everyday to this? I think I was able to jog a quarter mile on the first day but then it was horrible after that. I don't know what to do anymore.. I think this is my last chance effort because if I don't improve in the next couple months I'm feel like giving up. It seems so hopeless and I feel so helpless.
