Hello. I am in the third week of the lean routine and I have lost a pound and a few inches. I am thrilled to feel some changes because it was really tough in the 1st and 2nd week. I have struggled with the diet so I have decided to watch what I eat and also measure my portions instead.

I have just finished the CardioX and I feel energised instead of drained : ).

Hi! I just finished my first week of p90X..although I haven't lost any weight..yet...I am feeling pretty great! I'm also a vegetarian/vegan most of the time, but I do eat chicken or fish once in a while. I am finding it really hard to get the protein I need and will probably start using a supplement.

All in all, I really like the workouts..although, I need to get a pull-up bar as I don't have one. Someone posted that they were in tears after one of the workouts...I wasn't in tears but I was extremely frustrated with my lack of ability and strength when I did the plyometrics workout...I cannot for the life of me do a tuck jump! Sigh...I will get there...

Current Program:

Vegan-esque diet, lots of veggies and fruits; beans and legumes

Bootcamp: 3 Days Per Week

P90X: 6 Days Per Week

Hello Everyone! I just finished my first week of p90x lean, and I loved it! I've already lost 4 pounds, and i'm excited to keep going and toning my body up. I'm so much more flexible (my back was so tight before!), after only one week i'm already stretching further (palms on the ground, yo!) I'm currently way overweight, and i'm struggling with exhaustion at the end of the day after p90x... However i've noticed it's gotten better the past 2 days. Those first few days though... I was falling asleep at other peoples houses, I could barely keep my eyes open at work, and for some reason i couldnt sleep all the way through the night. but like i said, the past 2 or 3 nights have been great and i've had more energy. I'm a vegetarian, and so getting all my proteins is a struggle, but i've managed to at least eat pretty clean. i'm so excited to keep going, but i'm definitely going to need support to keep pushing play everyday. thats why i'm here! i want to finally succeed with weight loss, and i really feel like p90x is program to get me there. I've done c25k, and actually got up to running 7 miles after the program, but i literally lost maybe 5 lbs. running just isnt a good weight loss tool for me. SO, i'm gonna keep going with p90x, and hopefully offer up some support for other new members as well!

Sup folks!

I an an Independent Beachbody Coach who is one coaching for the discount and going through all the programs myself so I can help others relate to the different programs better.

I lost 12lbs in 4 weeks using the Ten Minute Trainer Deluxe w/Shakeology and 8lbs in 2 weeks doing 2x TMT-Deluxe workouts a day. It definitely works folks. Though I am moving on to Power 90, I know I will be keeping the TMT workouts close by for the days I have no time or am out on the road. I plan to also tackle P90X. P90X+, P90X2, Insanity and The Asylum.

Go ahead and message me, add me as a friend if you want to know more about my experience with Beachbody Products or if you don't mind sharing your knowledge.

Quick FYI...I also am studying Paul Mills AKKI Kenpo (Mr Mills was a private student of Ed Parker himself) if you are interested in this form please feel free to contact me. If you are in the SLC area I can get you a free month!

I've subscribed to SparkPeople for several years and just started p90x Lean program today. I'm in tears! It is so sad - I have no core muscles!! I completed the warmup and when we got to the banana rolls, I could barely lift my arms and the feet were absolutely not coming off the floor. Now I'm stuck wondering if I continue the program and try to improve or just give up. My husband has been doing the classic program for three weeks and had great results with weight loss in addition to a slimmed "muffin top." I'm so jealous, I'm just not sure if it's going to get better or if I will continue to struggle therefore making my workout ineffective. Deep down I hope it will work....does anyone else out there have a traumatizing story from week one? Please, do share.

Hello

I am new to p90x but not new to Sparkpeople. I am a returning member looking to get back on track (I was not diligent with my maintenance so I am looking to get back to where I was a few months ago).

I started p90x a 2 days ago and like it so far. I did Insanity last year and am finding p90x to be a lot different. I actually miss the cardio!

I do not have the nutrition book with my p90x so I will just be following spark guidelines - anyone else had success doing it this way?

Hi all,
I started p90x lean yesterday. It's my first time with p90x and mostly I just want to finish the program.
I have one question, is there any vegetarian who did this, what meal plan did you follow.
Thanks for the help and keep Bringing It everyone :)

Hi Everyone,
I restarted P90X yesterday. I am doing the Lean Version. I am completing the C25K program as well.

When I first tried P90X, I got to day 60 but developed tendonitis in my left wrist. So, I quit....bad move. I am excited to complete the program. This time, I will focus on my nutrition and take multi-vitamins to ensure that I am able to complete the work outs.

Take care,
Cyndi

Hi Holly,

How are you doing? Hope it's going well for you.

Really quickly I wanted to tell you I got my p90x in the mail today. Tonight I'll finish reading it and i'll watch some of the dvd's. Tomorrow and Friday I'll take the fit test. I still have to figure out how to take an accurate body fat test (??). Don't have my chin up bars (again it's coming in the mail) but I'll figure something out. I can do my chin ups at the gym. Depending on how well I do on my prep I'll most likely start Monday.

Take care,
Hope

Just finished Day 1. :) As challenging as I recall.

No you don't need bands if you have a pull up bar.

And yes. You will eat more than 1500 calories or you won't be able to do the workouts. The entire plan is explained in the package you will receive.

I, personally, don't find the Kenpo CD very challenging by itself. Part of the problem initially was that Tony never tells you to keep your core tight all the time. Once you add that in, it's a much better workout. I also had to add hand weights last time around. I will do Kenpo the first two weeks but after that I will more than likely replace it with Turbofire workouts.

My husband will re-start the program next week. He came down with a nasty cold this week, so we're putting it off for him. We don't work out together though. i do mornings. He is nights.

Let me know when your program arrives!

Talk soon.

Thanks Holly,

Yes, I've worked out 4 days this week using my elliptical machine and practicing kick boxing and just plain hitting the bag. Have kids at home for the holidays so no time for the gym which is ok, I can do a lot in my home gym anyway. I'll hit the gym much harder next week to prepare myself. I've been doing push-ups everyday for the last week but so far I can ONLY do 10 very good ones :(. I have a hate love relation with push-ups. emoticon

Ok: so I won't count calories either but follow the food plan. I've done the food portion/calorie counting before so I should have an idea of how much I should eat...right? I mean I know how to keep it at 1200-1500cal, but shouldn't I be eating more on this program?

So you don't have to use bands? I have all the weights I needs and some bands so I'll stick to those instead of buying more.

Do you like the Kenpo dvd? I'll wait to get my p90x and then maybe get the Kenpo cardio. I took martial arts before so the moves should be easy for me (I'm sure it will still kick my butt just as bad).

Thank you so much for your feedback on the food and weight loss for the 1st months.

Are you starting Saturday p90x by yourself or with someone?

Please please please keep me posted on how you're doing. emoticon

Hope you had a good workout on your 1st day emoticon

Hi Hope,

Last time I did the program I did the phases of food exactly as written and it worked well. Be advised that weight loss is slow because you build a good amount of muscle, and then in the third month it picks up dramatically. my husband lost 25 lbs in month 3 alone, whereas he lost only 10 in month one and 10 in month 2. I lost ten in month one, only 6 in month two, and 14 in month three, but I dropped sizes much faster than these weight losses imply. I dropped one clothing size in the first two weeks alone.

We followed the menus, not the portions as I didn't want to have to calculate everything every day.

I started using bands last time, but mine were recalled shortly thereafter so I switched to weights and assisted pull ups, and I don't remember what bands I used.

Yes! Starting on the 7th officially. This week I am doing the stretch, Kenpo, and Cardio X just to get my muscles warmed up.

You may want to start a little something while you wait if you aren't already active. That first week is a shock to the system!

Keep in touch, and post often. Support is crucial on a program like this!

Holly

Hi Everyone, I've been on hiatus from SP for a while, but when I'm looking for help, motivation, inspiration etc, SP always delivers. Now I need some support and hope I can find other to relate to. I just purchased P90X, should be arriving this week maybe next (I hope). I want to do a little research so that when it comes I and ready!

Is anyone currently doing P90X? My big question is "Determining your phase" it seems that the calories are geared for men. Am I missing something? I goggled P90X and tried read as much info as I could but there is not deference between calorie intake on men v's women.

Next: Equipment needed. I've seen in amazon a group of resistance bands. Which ones do I need? Also Push-up bar, yes or no? Not too expensive so I was thinking of getting them.

@Holly: Are you starting on 07/01? It would be nice to hear how you're coming along. Since I ordered the p90x this morning I don't think I'll get it by this week, but I hope to have everything I need ready so I can start the same day I get it.

All the best!
Hope

Hello everyone.

I am new to this team, but not new to P90X. I completed the program last year. When I ended it I was in the best shape of my life. Now...one year later... I am 40 pounds heavier and feeling pretty awful.. I need to get myself together again.

No excuses for why the change back to crap happened. I simply got tired of caring and watching every little thing I ate. I was tired of having to exercise every day. I was sick to death of the whole thing.

Now I realize I never HAD to do anything. I was choosing to be better to my body, so I can simply choose it again. This coming Saturday I begin the program again. I think I will do better this time than last because I KNOW the program works, so I will bring everything I've got.

Looking forward to sharing the experience with others.

See you all on the other side of the Play button.

Hello!
So I just had a baby 6 weeks ago, and had loaned out my brand new P90X DVDs to friends, since I was preggo. Now that I have them back, it's my turn. I'm really excited to use them, but am having trouble getting up the energy to push play. My new daughter is up all night and I have a 3 year old that keeps me up all day. I have been trying to get back into running, with no avail, but am excited to get my pace (and better) back. I think P90X will help dramatically... Anyone else just starting out? I think I need a kick in the ass.. kick me. please!

Don't be in such a hurry for tomorrow to come

Hi! I just started (last night) P90X Lean. I am originally from the States but have moved around a bit and live now in a developing country in the South Pacific. This means I don't have access to things like pullup bars and any other fancy kind of equipment. But no matter, I am committed to completing this program.

For me, this is about weight loss and fitness. Ideally, I would like to lose a kilo a month (2.2 pounds) because I know that this program is all about building lean muscle and muscle is heavier than fat. My real goal is to wear a bikini once in these magical islands! I am currently 5'5 and 149 pounds (68 kilos). I would, ideally, like to be around 61 kilos but I know its a long process and it could take a year to reach that goal. I'm totally cool with that.

I will probably end up doing a more modified program, with five days a week rather than six because I do diving, snorkeling and hiking to waterfalls on the weekend. I also walk to work every day (an hour a day) so I am already pretty active but I definitely need to be fitter, which is what this program is all about! I would appreciate any words of advice, wisdom or support from the group.

Thanks!
S

Hi! I just finished my first workout for P90X (Lean)-Core Synergistics. While I'd like to lose weight on this program, I think my biggest goal is to be faithful and complete it.

I was a little discouraged today, though. I know it's not surprising that I couldn't keep up during my first workout, but I'm kind of frustrated all the same. Oh well, I just need to keep pushing myself until I can keep up.

I'm looking forward to talking with some of you. I'm sure I could definitely use some help staying motivated. :)

I just started p90X and I have to say it's kicking my butt. I'm only on day two and plyo was a bit too hardcore for me, so I ended up popping in Cardio X or the last 15 minutes. It is something I want to work towards doing though. I'm excited to be trying this new program and have already noticed a difference in how I feel. Looking forward to the next three months.

Hey everyone! My name is Christina and I am 22 years old. I restarted P90X for the fifth time about a month ago. The four previous times, I was unsuccessful. I just couldn't seem to get motivated enough to get my schedule to work with my workouts. But, now I am motivated to the extreme! I am on my 4th week of P90X. Granted, the first 3 weeks, I might not have worked out every day but I worked out at LEAST 4 days out of the 7 no matter what. This week, I am on a roll. Tomorrow will be my fifth out of fifth day leading to Saturday ending the week on a successful note.

Follow my Vlogs to help follow my progress as well as cheer me on! Can't wait to read all of your success stories! :)

Hello to everyone. My husband and I have been doing P90X for approx 12 days now. I noticed a 0.5lb reduction after week 1 and 2.5lb gain week 2 so not really sure how to feel about this. I am currently 162lbs with desire to go to 140-145lbs at 5'5. Since delivering my son 19 months ago (getting back to 145 a year later) the weight has creeped back up to weight I was when found I was pregnant after stopping nursing.

My workout routine prior to P90X was running, eliptical or spinning 3-4 days/week, with the occassional 5k or 10k race. Since P90X i have stopped other cardio as mentioned above however thinking I may need to add in cardio ontop of this workout with P90X to get weight reduction. Any thoughts? Im concerned of over working the body and the time working out.

Hi all!

I have been doing p90x with my hubby since March 4. We are on Day 51. The results so far.....

for me, I am down 18 pounds. Lost 4 inches off my hips. 4.5 inches off my waist. And my hubby has done just as well. We are really putting the effort in to it, and seeing such great results, are totally motivated to keep going. Anyone just starting, I have some progress pictures posted, I hope it is a bit of motivation for you. Keep it up, and see you on the boards!

It's one life. Don't waste a minute.

Hi, my name is Angela..I started p90X on April 1st and I have been hanging in there as I'm finishing week 2. I just joined sparkpeople last week so I'm looking for encouragement, advice and tips that help me on my journey. Don't have very much encouragement from people in my personal life so I look for it where I can.

I am a mother of three. I go to school full time. I have arthritis OA in my knees, and RA hands, and my toes. I have loss up to 50 lbs., so far I at least before my surgery. I had my ACL reconstructed in November 12, 2010. I still have pain my knee, it feels stronger than it did before surgery. It seems like I can’t lose any more weight I exercise at three times a week plus I walk every day. I don’t know what else to do, I’m hoping that P90X can help me. I want to get down to 145 lbs.

Hi everyone. I'm Mandie, and I'm into my 3rd week of p90x, doing the lean program. I've seen such dramatic changes in my strength and abilities already - I love it! Most people I know think I'm crazy for doing this workout, so definately here for the support and to get ideas and tips from other members.

Starting P90X officially on Monday Feb 21!!! I'm so excited! My best friend and I are going to stick with it and really push each other! We both have pretty good self discipline but we push each other harder!

Tried the stretchX yesterday after a good hour on the tredmill at 6.0 incline at 3.6mph and it felt AMAZING!

She did the program before, but quit after 1 week (she said it hurt to pee after the ab ripper lol) so we'll both help each other out!

She's doing the Biggest Loser Challenge at her work, and I'm getting married pretty soon so we'll both be there for each other and most importantly for ourselves :)

Guys I'm so excited! I was a 3 sport varsity athlete in high school for four years, then gained 35 pounds in 3 years from the stress of college and working night shift at the hospital. NO LONGER will I be frazzled with myself :)

Looking foward :)

Welcome to P90X Sparkers, GRACES26! Core Synergistics is one of my favourite P90X routines--it really does give a full-body workout, and if you Bring It! with intensity, you *really* burn up the calories. I use a calorie-burning calculator at this site: http://www.braydenwm.com/calburn.htm to calculate calories burned after every P90X workout. I record my heart rate at natural breaks in the routine and take an average to enter into the calculator. Good luck sticking with the program.

Today i did core synergistics and it felt good. last week i did slim in 6 and that felt too easy and i wasn't even sore. so P90X it is for this week emoticon

Way to go, TUTTLEY17! btw: be prepared for many days of feeling sore, but feeling excited about what that soreness means for your future fitness and appearance : ) What I really like about P90X is its variety, but a side effect is that some muscle group is always feeling a little sore for the first couple of weeks.

There are suggestions for modifying every exercise for more or less intensity, MICADEANN11. You'll be able to handle. Besides, Tony Horton keeps saying, "Do your best and forget the rest!" I always find that encouraging.

I just received my P90X DVDs yesterday! I hope I can handle the program because I still have 25-30 lbs to lose.

Restarting P90X Classic again. Today was Day 1. I kind of missed it actually. But I know tomorrow morning I will be thinking otherwise, lol. I made it about halfway through the last time. Didn't lose much weight but looked tons different. I actually had muscular legs! Since I am starting earlier in the year, I hope the same pitfalls don't grab me. Its so hard to workout indoors on the weekends when its summer time!

Starting--well, re-starting--P90X Lean strand tomorrow. Did it for a month last fall and liked it but got derailed with too much travel away from home. The next 3 months look pretty stable, so here goes! I'm 64, have a few pounds to get rid of, am able to do the pre-test fine. I don't want my bones and muscles to deteriorate as I age, so I do try to exercise reasonably faithfully, but so often the spirit is willing but the body not so much : ) I like that P90x workouts vary day by day and, yeah, Tony's pep talks do help me, even after hearing them so often I can say them along with him : )

Hi, I just started P90X on Monday. We borrowed the program from my brother-in-law, so it didn't come with an eating plan. I'm just eating what SP recommends and trying to really up my protein (80g a day, which is a lot for me).

I am sore but enthusiastic. I'm ready to see some results!

I started p90x today. I'm going to have to do it more than once as I still have between 45 and 55 pounds to lose. I need to go shopping for groceries tomorrow. I'm trying to do a vegetarian version- but probably more fruits than the plan "allows".

I started P90X last Spring and completed Phase 1 twice. Summer rolled around and kids were out of school so I stopped everything. I just started back two weeks ago. I am scheduled for Plyo today. I have the same 10 pounds to lose that I keep holding on to. Like some of you, I work out, hard, but then my diet is a little indulging and I don’t see the results I want. I downloaded an app for my phone that will allow me to check off my eating blocks for phase 1 (other phases available through the same app). I am going to become consistent with it and workout every day. I think about all of the things I do every day that eat up all of my time. I sat down and created a schedule to help me do something for me. So many times we make time for everyone else in our lives but not ourselves. So I challenge everyone reading this, find that 1 hour and 20 minutes a day to do something for yourself, your workout! Then follow through with your diet and in 90 days we will be healthier and have started a little habit that will help us all live stronger, healthier lives!
Amy

Hi! My name is Aimee and this isn't really new to me, I just needed a more active team to be on for the P90X. I have been doing it on and off for a while, but the same thing happens about week 6 or 7. I crash and can't get it done. Well, I may have figured out what happened and hope that I can conquer it. I have reactive hypoglycemia and it is hard to get the diet right so I don't crash. I hope that I can finish this first COMPLETE go around of P90X. Wish me luck!!

I hear this allot. I worked so hard, and only lost ___ lbs. Or I gained weight.
Remember, the bathroom scale measures weight, not mass. There is a huge difference. Weight measures the pull of gravity on an object (W=mg). Mass (Specifically in this instance gravitational mass), we will simplify by saying it is the measurement of how much of you there is that takes up space. The bigger you are the more mass, the more space you take up (Very simplified explanation).
So with all that in mind, is there a time when your mass could remain the same, but your weight go up and down on the scale? Yes. How can that be you ask? Well, weight can depend on environment. If your in space, your weight is lower even though your mass has not changed. But how about for those of us who are not cosmonaughts? Well, this is why your scale sucks. Have you ever noticed your clothes fit better, but the scale said you gained weight? How could it be that your mass got smaller, and your weight went up? Easy. You have something inside of your body that is dense enough to increase the amount of gravitational pull (weight) but does not affect your mass (how much of you there is. This could be various substances, but the main one is water. That's right. Water. Water weighs 8lbs per gallon, and it will increase your weight without affecting your mass. Weigh your drinking cup filled with tap water on your scale, and see how much it could change the weight of your body.
THis is why I always recommend DECA body mass scans every few months. These take out the water, organs, and bone mass to give you a true body fat versus muscle reading.
THe next time your feeling fit, and jump on the scale and notice a weight gain.. make a mental note of how much water you drank in the last 12 hours.. and subtract off the appropriate amount of weight from what the scale says.

I have P90X but don't do it and I guess am just seeing if it's possible. I'm just under 200. I've been running since June and am hoping to get some good advice and knowledge here about the program. I have SO many questions! Like how do you log the program, can I stay on my current eating plan, etc.

Hi there. I am Amy. I have just started the P90x Lean program. I lost 5lbs the first week, gained 1 this week. Not getting discouraged as of yet.
I also run every morning and then do the program so I am hoping to jump start some big losses! =]
I have about 20lbs to lose and am training for my first 5k on October 16th.
I have never thought of myself as a runner and I am enjoying pushing my limits.
I am not doing the Nutrition plan verbatim as I am doing extra cardio and need more carbs. But that may have accounted for the weight gain this week. I will give it a few weeks to see how it goes and then knuckle down more if I need to.
I hope to find encouragement here and look forward to seeing everyone's successes!

Hi all- I have been a fan of P90X since it came out in 2004. I actually was one of the original "P90 Xplorers" and have a copy signed by the man himself. I am just finishing up a round of RevAbs Full Throttle and will be starting a round of P90X, September 19th, so I thought I would join this Spark Team!

Hi Guys!
I am doing P90X Lean and I am on week 3, day 5. I absolutely LOVE IT! Not sure what's happened to me because I typically hate exercise. I guess it's the quick results I am getting. I've already lost 10 lbs and about 6 inches. And I'm still in Phase 1!!! I can't wait to see the end result! Nice to meet all of you!

Decide Commit Succeed. You and your husband have made the decision. If you'll commit to give it all you got for 90 days, you will succeed. And we here in the P90X Sparkers forum are here for you if you need any assistance or support.
Congratulations, and here is hoping that in 90 days we can change your name from PAM4024 to PAMTHABLAM!!

Hello There P90X Sparkers. I'm Jason, and I am one of your team co-leaders along with ChasingPavement and DIANEMARY126.
I started my weight loss journey in 2009 and used P90X as part of my triathlon training program, and achieved fantastic results having lost over 50 lbs in a few short months.
Unfortunately I got side tracked with a severe cervical spine injury that has left me partially disabled, and had to completely sit out a few months. But now I am back and ready to get all X'd up again despite my disability.
Please feel free to ask me any questions about P90X exercises and about any modifications of the movements that can be done if you have a disability.
Do Your Best, and Forget the Rest.

I am going to start p90x on 9/1. I'm wrapping up a 9 week yoga challenge and looking forward to weight lifting and cardio and just a different kind of workout.
I'm most worried about the food thing - working out has never really been a problem for me (I go to the gym or studio or outdoors or even indoors and move myself around for an hour or so and I'm done), food and menu planning has always been my weight loss downfall. Even the thought of thinking through even a day's worth of menu items makes me want to run in the other direction. I've read the nutrition book and while I know I've got to get ready for day 1 (not to mention days 2-90), it's just daunting.

I'm also looking for a coach. When I signed up on the beachbody site, they assigned me one. And while he seems like a perfectly reasonable person...I don't see that working.

Hi! I am coming back from a bicycle accident in which I ruptured my spleen and ended up in ICU for a little while back in April. I'm almost as heavy as I've ever been thanks to being lazy and letting myself eat whatever I wanted during recovery. I want to get down to my goal weight and be healthy doing it. I'm looking forward to starting the P90x program and getting to know all of you.
