Look on iTunes for music that times the 20 second "work" vs 10 second rest for you.

I usually use Ultra Life Tabata Music and Turbo Tabata Trainer albums

I have "tabata" ed just about every form of exercise and you can see uTube examples if you look for them.

I regularly "tabata": rowing machine, elliptical, treadmill, running on a track, wall squats with 20lb weights, planks, sit ups, kettlebells and even yoga poses!!

Good luck!

Tabata? Hmm I might have to look that up!

Thanks for the tips! I listen to music when I am running but never thought about podcasts or audio books. Might try that!

I really don't like running per se, but I love elliptical and treadmills because the give me some great cardio workouts indoors when the weather is bad outside!

Otherwise, I love hiking.

I use peppy music to help keep my pace up and keep me from getting too bored. Otherwise, if I'm just going for "time on the treadmill" with no attention to pace, I listent to podcasts or audio books.

I "tabata" my workout if I only have 15 min or less to get cardio in. I warm up for 5 min, do one 4 min round of tabata running, rest for a full minute and do one more round of tabata running.

Good luck with the ankle!

Hi all,

My name is Lorie and I will be joining the elliptical world of training (hopefully) next week. I have been a runner for 30+ years and yesterday, while running through my neighborhood, suffered the worst ankle sprain ever! The pain was so bad I thought I had broke it! SO thankful that I didn't, however it scared my husband and my kidos so I am grounded from running the street.

We have an elliptical in our shed and no room for it in the house. So the Hubs has decided to make a small gym on our patio and we are looking at treadmills, so I can keep doing what I love! Now I need to know how to work both machine to get the most out of my runs. That's why I joined this group! :-)

Please feel free to check out my Sparkpage, friend me, follow my goals, etc. I promise to return the favor!

Thanks for this group! I look forward to making some new friends and learning this new way of running! :-)
