Welcome to the team! What a great idea! All the machines can get boring and coming up with something to keep you going is great! Good Luck!
Wow - amazing! A great idea - good luck! I'm going to think of this when I need a push.

I love your idea! Keep up the great work! I have been through the Mojave Desert many times. My parents lived in Inyokern and Ridgecrest for a long time. Been over to Furnace Creek, etc.....it definitely grows on you but not sure I could live there forever.
Best wishes on your journey!
You can do it!

Hi everyone :)
I'm 40 years old, married and have two boys (16 and 20 years old).
We live out in the middle of nowhere..the desert boonies (Mojave desert)... our little community has a population of 12 people, lol.....and we are 100 miles from any type of grocery store, in any direction....but it's home and I love it.
I actually joined SparkPeople on December 28th, 2011. It was one of my 'new years resolutions' that come January 1st, I was going to start my journey to 'Onederland'....well, January 1st came and went..and so did February, March, April, May & June. emoticon
Thankfully I came to my senses before letting another year pass me by, lol...
July 19th, 2012....just a few weeks ago, this was the day that I 'officially' started my 'Journey To Onederland'
I have MS (multiple sclerosis), stage II hypertension, and this past April, I had a stroke (my 2nd one in two years). I also had emergency surgery last year to remove 3 discs in my neck that were severing my spinal cord....so you could say I have my share of health problems...
but I'm not going to allow any of these 'problems' prevent me from accomplishing my goals.
I'm unable to walk very far without assistance so I decided to start using a recumbent bike as part of an aerobic workout. Knowing that exercise bikes can become somewhat of a boring routine, especially when your doing it day in and day out, I decided to have a little fun with my daily biking workout...and so I started my own little 'virtual' Bike Across America challenge. I also plan, once I get a little stronger, to started some form of strength training using a combination of dumbbells & stretch bands.
My progress so far...
Well, I left the 'Mojave National Preserve' on the 19th July, 2012 and I've managed to bike 102 miles so far...(on the map, that put's me at my 3rd 'virtual' destination, Bullhead City, AZ...hehe)
your welcome to check out exactly where I am and where I'm biking too via my website..
Looking forward to chatting with you all soon :)
