emoticon Heather. It is great to have you on the team. You seem to have a great strategy for getting those last few pounds off. What about the weekend events causes the gain. Is there a strategy you might be able to help you with that? You may not be able to avoid the situations, but maybe you can minimize the impact they have. Keep up the good work, you will be at goal soon and that is a huge accomplishment. Way to go!

Yesterday & today I tried out some different cardio & worked up a little bit of a sweat & got my heart pounding. Then did a little bit of strength training on my sons weight machine until I could feel the burn at least. I weighed myself this morning & lost a pound so I have a little over 2 lbs. to goal.

I am going to do some different cardio tomorrow & friday as well as my strength training. Hopefully by next week, I will be even closer to goal. emoticon

Hi my name is Heather. I am hoping this group can help me with my maintenace once I get there. I only have a few stubborn pounds to goal. I do so good during the week & then the weekend comes with events going on. I tend to gain a pound or two & have to start over again on Monday. The way my weekends are, I think I might have some issues with my maintenance.

As of today, I did step up my exercise a bit. So I think I did anyway. I did some faster cardio for about 20 minutes & then did my strength training program that I am on. I am hoping it will help.

Morning ladies! Pam you and Donna will have a special support by way of the TOPS.

I have a finance meeting this morning for my community and then will drive to a larger town about 20 miles away to look at refrigerators. It looks like we are in for more rain here and the temperature is hovering over 40 degrees.

Hello! I am new too, one month. I see that I have a fellow TOPS member in this group! I am so excited by that. I belong to MO1089 Warsaw. I have been in TOPS since 2009. I met my weight goal (160) in TOPS in July 2011. I was our Chapter's Queen and of course became a KOPS (Keeping Off Pounds Sensibly). I did great thru 2012. However, I lost my KOPS status in 2013. I lost my vision and was "sucked into" some extended family issues. I gained back up to 195.8 lbs.

FINALLY I have my mojo back! I have celebrated 5 consecutive weeks of weight loss at TOPS! Yesterday I weighed in at 1.8 lbs lost for this past week! WHOO HOO! I currently weigh 184.0 lbs. I am LOVING SP....such great trackers, weight and activity. Plus, I am exploring the community areas.

I just made myself a "Celebration Wall" in my closet! I put up all my TOPS Queen and KOPS awards. I see "THE WALL" every time I open my closet. I am really working at staying PUMPED UP!!! I trust you all are pumped up too as we lose weight together!

I'm a 57 year old woman that has a total of 92 lbs to lose to reach a decent weight where I can possibly get off of blood pressure pills and also not hurt so much from RA of the spine. I've been told by my doctor that the less extra weight I'm carrying the less stress there will be on my joints. I don't expect to lose it fast. It took me 8 years to put on all the weight. My goal is to drop 2 lbs every month and keep it off til I reach my 92 lb goal.
I am married to Bob and he's just had to get a pacemaker/defibrullator in March, and is still adjusting to having a very weak heart (20% heart strength), so I tend to stress over his health a lot, and when I'm stressing out, I tend to eat more than I should. So I will be working on making healthier food choices over time.

thanks for the warm welcome mauitn. last year when i lost the weight, i was on sparks doing it alone. i lost 1lb a week, mainly watching portions size and exercising 30mins each day on my clanking old bike. this year, i am having a hard time getting myself to do it again. i feel like a slug, i am tired, and just cannot motivate myself to do anything. i know if i keep at it, something will click...it just is a bit harder this year.
oh, and lily is a handful...she gets into everything!

I finally slept through the night and am feeling much more normal this morning. I just need to remember to take things one day at a time. I am sure getting back to exercise yesterday helped with the sleeping. So, onward I go.

I've always been weight-conscious and into working out, but after a stress fracture and then studying abroad in Italy for 6 weeks, my weight really crept up and I was the heaviest I've ever been! Hi! My name is Dove and I've made a good start to my weight loss but want to push forward and get to the next weight goal. I am counting calories and exercising at home on my own EQ and looking for support that others can bring.

Hi everyone. I've been on Sparkpeople for quite a few years...even got down to my goal weight at one point. The last couple of years I've had the extra challenges of a slower metabolism and bum knee, so the weight keeps popping back on. I'll be 47 next month so middle age is also rearing its head!

I joined the 2% challenge because I love the idea of making small goals and consistently marching toward them. I really look forward to being a part of this team!

Hi everyone, my name is Bev and I joined on Dec 30th. I am married and have a son in highschool . I work full time during the day in the medical field as well as have a home based business in the fashion industry. I joined simply to get my life back. I have been battling this demon for so many years. I would loose then gain it back. I am now ready to take it off for the last time. In the past I was never good at planning or tracking anything that I did for more than a few days. Not I make sure that I am diligent about putting in everything that goes in my mouth. I have had a few stressful days that I came close to caving in, but for the first time recognized what I was doing and made a decision to not fall back into the same pattern again. I hope to meet others on here and get encouragement when I need it as well as give it to others.

Hello Everyone, My name is Gina. I joined SP in the past and had moderate success. But, Life threw me some curve balls. I allowed that to detour me, and I gained the weight back. I have been yo-yo dieting every sense. I am back on SP to prove to myself that I not only can do this but deserve this. Proving it to others wouldn't be bad either. I am a year, and two weeks away from my 40th birthday. This is the year of no excuses.

Yes, the question for me is how much am I willing to change because change is what I must do to start losing weight. Obviously what I have been doing has not worked!
As I sit here I try to understand why the commitment to change has waned....?.....if I want it sooooo bad. In the past, I have injured myself when I've increased my amount of exercise but now I am "smarter" about easing into exercise. In the past, I have felt very hungry on 'diets'. I remember sitting in group meetings for more than one weight loss group and listening to the other members go on about 'how full they feel' and 'how they can't sometimes eat all the food on their plans', etc and I just wanted to cry. I was hungry!! I have since learned that I must find vegetables to love.....not a happy thought but a change I am 'almost' willing to make....
So....losing weight will be worth it! I will commit to the change because change is what I must do....

I am approaching my 4-year mark with SP. I have found that the best thing I did was develop a set of rules for myself (tracking all food, making sure to get a certain amount of exercise per week, refusing to eat anywhere in my home except at the table, eating certain things and abstaining from others (not always but mostly)etc.) and stick to them. By doing that I developed new, healthy habits that "override" the old, unhealthy ones the vast majority of the time. I used to make a plan and then when things got a little tough, I would "adjust" it and end up right back where I started. It really came down to how much I wanted to change. I finally believed that I could do it if I set my mind (and body) to it. It was this belief that it really could happen and my subsequent commitment to doing the necessary work that made it happen.

All I can say is that it has been SO WORTH IT! I feel like a new person. I look better, feel better and have so much more energy and a better outlook on every part of my life.

I will remember to keep quick easy things on hand....need to check the SparksPeople list of foods....I can't ingest a lot different fruit because I suffer with acid reflux and find the fruits too acidic but I have found a few that I can tolerate - I like snap peas and baby carrots for a quick fix - I'm afraid I am not a celery lover - hummus is good - almond butter is good - for me portions are what I need to keep monitoring....

I also will keep my journal handy and remember to check-in with the group when things are "stuck" here at home. I think that because I haven't seen my weight drop, I am somewhat de-motivated - it seems to take a lot of effort on my part before I see weight drop.

Also struggle with maintaining my energy level....any ideas on that??

I never stave off cravings. If I am hungry, I eat something on my diet. I eat mostly a low fat, vegan (Eat To Live) diet. A piece of fruit, hummus and celery, a salad, or a teaspoon of almond butter will do it every time and I still stay within my calorie comfort zone.

My motivation comes when I see my weight drop, when I record everything in a journal and when I come here and talk to everyone. I know I can ask questions and someone will answer.

I do have many questions.....what do you do to stay motivated? Do you self-talk? Post pictures, mottos on your fridge? cupboards? mirrors? Call a friend? I need some creative ideas...
Are you able to stave off huger feelings or do you sit with them and find that they eventually pass? Any recommendations??
Do you recommend anything when you have cravings for salty,crunchy foods??
Do you find that cravings subside over time??
