Thank you Carol!!!!

Yeah! I'll join you with weighing in on a friday!! I think that will motivate me too to steer clear of the scale from week to week!

I'm doing well today too! I didn't weigh in today after reading the messages here and I felt so much better not to have it hanging over me. I ate well and had another good workout! I'm pretty tired now so I'm going to get an early night tonight!

I'm glad you got over the scale thing!! Keep up your good work!

Bernadette, we inspire each other by just talking about our ever day challenges. Just to know that I'm not alone is motivation to me. My weigh in day is usually on Friday's, do you want to join in with me? It will be great to have an accountability partner. I think it will force me to really stay away from the scale.

How are you doing today? My day was GREAT after I got over the scale thing. LOL.

Both of you are so inspiring!

I am the same I jump on the scale most days even when I know that there are natural fluctuations in water weight etc between days. I've decided too to try and weigh in only once per week. Maybe we should set a day to weigh in together and stick to that??

Anyway, the scale has wasted many days for me too. The ironic thing is that when I don't see the numbers i'm hoping for I tend to eat more!!!

So, that's another goal for september to weigh in only once per week! I think I might start measuring other things too such as how happy I feel each day. Maybe that will be a better measure of the progress I am making :D

Jen you are the BEST! Your one of the many reasons why I like SP because of the motivation, inspiration and knowledge that everyone has.

It's pretty funny how we let other people run how we feel. I'm letting this lovely scale run how I feel. I hate the way that happens, which is why I put it out of site. My sister always tells me that I've been overweight for soooo many years, it's going to take a while to come off. I try and keep her saying in my head as I go through my challenges. Just some mornings get to me and I lose my motivation.

Don't worry, I haven't done anything drastic because I refuse to go backwards. I've been eating healthy since June and have lost a total of 27 pounds. I hate to see anything go back on.

I'm still pushing forward and trying to keep the end in mind.

Dedrie,

I think that moving the scale was a great idea! My scale has ruined my day far too many times in my life. I have to keep telling myself that I didn't gain this weight overnight and I'm not going to lose it overnight. In my case, since I have a lot to lose, I have focused on a one year period. I joined SP in April, so I say that by next April I will be a new woman. In order to not feel sad about the long wait, I think about all the Aprils that I have let pass by without improving my body and my health because of little detours that I allowed to become total roadblocks.

We all KNOW deep inside that if we do the right things like eat sensibly and exercise more, we WILL lose weight. We just want it to happen in OUR time. So when the scale doesn't move the way we want it to, we give ourselves these crazy messages like, "I will never lose this weight. It is hopeless." and we go right back to eating uncontrollably (or at least without thought).

The other thing that I have allowed to throw me off my path is the opinion of other people. At this point I have lost 36 pounds with SP. I run into people all the time whom I think will comment on my weight loss. Very few people do. At one time that would have sent me right back to the food. Now I tell myself, "They may not notice it now, but they will. They will notice when I have dropped another 50 pounds!" That little change in ME makes all the difference. It is the messages that YOU give to yourself that will make or break you on your journey toward a new you.

Keep remembering, "It is the ME in the MEssage that matters."

Jen

XNEWMEX, I'm sooooo glad that you are feeling better. Being organized is EVERYTHING! I've started bringing lunch to work so that I don't munch on cookies when I get hungry. For some reason, I hate going on for lunch when I'm at work. So, I would prolong and in turn I used to skip lunch. NOT ANY MORE! LOL. Today I brought some salmon and veggies. I'm looking forward to it, LOL.

This morning I stepped on the scale and it's going in the wrong direction. I soooo don't know why, but it made me sad and depressed. I'm trying to break out of the funk, but it's difficult today. I moved the scale from in my bathroom to under the bed. I want to stop getting out of the habit of stepping on it every morning. I want to only use it once a week. Every Friday for weigh in day, let's see how I do.

I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day!

THank you Dedrie! I appreciate that! I know weekends are difficult, I don't know why it's become that way. I think what I'm going to do is have planned treats and maybe allow myself some more calories on the weekends so that I can look forward to them and I don't end up overeating.

It's always the same, when you tell yourself you can't or shouldn't have something you want it more!

I'm feeling much better today!! emoticon

XNEWMEX, Way to go on picking yourself back up. We all have down falls and we can't always kick ourselves in the BUTT for it. You must recognize what you have done and move on. One day is not going to hurt you, it's what you do afterwards. By working out today, you have already moved closer to your overall goal. STAY STRONG and you will see those pounds coming right off.

DON'T LET THE WEEKENDS BEAT YOU! STAY IN CHARGE!

Xnewmex,

Today is a new day. You can start all over. I think it might make you feel better if you increased your workout today to try to make up for some of your eating last night. Don't focus on the negative, but on taking good care of yourself because you deserve it. You are a beautiful, intelligent young woman and you deserve to treat yourself very, very well. Try to remember that the next time you want to indulge in food. Think of some other way to treat yourself and be sure to focus on how good it feels.

I need to stop doing this at weekends because it really stalls the progress! Anyway I'm having one of those days when I feel a bit emoticon

My Saturday has been a busy one. My son, Alex, came home from college last night with his roommate. They needed to pick up some things to make their room just right. They spent the night so this morning I was up early cooking breakfast for everyone before the boys left. In the midst of the morning rush the front doorknob stopped working so I had to take it off the door and found that it was "dead". I ran out to a doctor's appointment, then home to pick up son, Spencer. He and I did errands (including purchasing a new doorknob) until about 3PM. Then I did some laundry and made a pasta salad for a picnic we are hosting tomorrow. At 5PM I finally sat down at the computer. I made a quick dinner around 7PM and am about to go collapse on the sofa and watch a movie with my husband. My only exercise today was racing from place to place, but my eating has been great. I will make up for the exercise tomorrow.

Good night!

Hi Jen,

emoticon , for checking in on me. My Saturday was perfect for me. It started out with work this morning, the a GREAT workout, then a fabulous dinner. I had Salmon, white rice with mixed veggies. It was soooo GOOD and filling. Now, I'm about to relax and enjoy the rest of my evening before work again in the morning.

My babies went to a b'day party in NY and won't be back until later on tonight. They hopefully will go straight to BED. The house is soooooooooo quiet without my babies. I actually miss them.

How was your Saturday? I hope you had a Great one!

Jen, Thank you soooo much for your encouraging words. I really need it right now because I refuse to fall back into those bad habits. I've reached the time in my life in which I'm tired of being overweight. It's time for me to reach my goal and I know the journey is not going to be short. I still have a total of 40 pounds to lose until I'm at the end of the road. emoticon I'm ready for the challenge. And I've found the right team to help me through it.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate everything thus far.

LET'S GO TEAM!

Congratulations, Debbie! That is fantastic! I am so happy for you!

Dedrie,

What Carol and Debbie are saying is true. What we are doing is about life change. We all want to look great now, and it will happen. Our bodies will change and while they are changing, we are changing our minds and our behaviors so that this won't turn out to be another failed attempt where we finish our "diet" and go right back to old habits. This time it will happen the right way and it will LAST!

Some days it seems like I'm not showing any progress, then I look back at where I was 4 months ago compared to where I am today. What an eye opener. Today, I thought I would treat myself to an Ipod and as I was walking to the electronics department I had to go through the women's clothing. I saw some pants hanging there and I liked the style and the material. I decided to try on a pair in a size 12/14. Told myself if these fit, I'll buy a couple pair and forget about the Ipod this time. Guess what I bought? Two pairs of pants. I haven't worn that size in more than 16 years!! I'm definitely making progress.

Dedrie, Take your focus off the end point and focus on the journey! Enjoy each step and the end goal will come within your grasp. We cannot focus on the seeming in surmountable or we will slip into our old ways. I haven't lost an ounce this month and I could care less. I am at a healthy weight, just desire to be more in the middle of my weight range for my height. I'll get there when I get there. Don't forget, the tortoise won the "race!" CMY (Carol)

ANYALEA & MARMIZC, Thank you for the support already. There are just times when I feel like all of my efforts take too long to show results. I know it needs to fall off slowly to stay off rather than all at once and come back. I'm trying to stay motivated, but I just need to hear the encouraging words.
