Evening All,

Glad to find my way over here! Thanks for the invite!!

Why do I want the weight to be over? I'm just ready to maintain! Get to my goal weight & just finally be done. The journey has been long & ongoing. I guess I'm ready for it to be finished.

Good Morning Team,

I sooooo want to lose this weight for my health and family. My babies mean the world to me and need to make sure that I do my very best for them. I've been overweight since I was 10 years old and I'm soooooooooooo tired of being the FAT one in the family. I'm always the talk of the party in some way and I want my family to speak of my weight loss and not my gain.

This journey soooo far has been very rough. After I lost 20 pounds I went an entire month without losing weight. Then I joined SP and I've lost an additional 7 pounds. Total pounds lost since I've started my healthy lifestyle has been 27 pounds. emoticon

All I can say is, KEEP PUSHING! STAY FOCUS! and we will all reach our final goal.

Dedrie emoticon

Hi-
I'm really excited about this team. I loved the challenge thread, but this is even better!

I'm almost 44 and full time working mom to a pre-schooler. I was stressed out all the time and feeling like a lumpy drone. So far I've lost 37 lbs this year - 30 of them on SP since February. I've got 8 lbs to lose before I hit my goal which I'm trying to reach by Halloween. I've found new ways to exercise and relieve stress. I feel stronger and my skin is better. I'm more confident and my husband says I seem happier.

I want the weight to be over so that I can start maintaining! I don't ever want to go back to the way I was living at the start of this year.

Hi, everyone!!! Looking forward to get to know you. I started SP in April. I thought I would never get fat. I used to be able to eat all I wanted and not gain. I got married, went on the pill, had a desk job and started slowly gaining. When my kids were younger, I tried Weight Watchers. Didn't work for me. I gained. So I decided I was destined to be like a lot of my relatives -- obese. About 17 years ago (has it really been that long ago?) I went on the Medifast diet. I lost 40 lbs. in 4 months but due to transferring to another state before I got to my goal weight I had to be put on solid foods before I was ready. I did ok for a while but wasn't real comfortable about walking in a city after coming from a small town. I gradually got out of my walking routine and one day I woke up I looked like a butterball turkey but still couldn't seem to stick to a "diet". For months before coming across SP, I would look online to see if I could find something to help me. It wasn't until April that I found what I needed. A place to go to help me realistically shed the pounds and get me motivated to do the dirty word "exercise". And it's free!!! People still have a hard time believing me. Now that I have shed almost 25 pounds I can walk up steps without being winded. I do a lot of my walking with DVDs but I do like walking to work whenever the weather permits. My kids have never seen me skinny so that is a huge incentive for me. I have 2 grown kids and one granddaughter. Ok, I'm rambling now. Must be time to go to bed.

Hi Everyone!
I've been on SP for about 3 weeks and have already lost a pound. For me that's great because I lose very slowly. I want the weight to be over because I am tired of it. I have been overweight all of my life except for a short period between the ages of 15-34 when I was skinny as sin and couldn't gain weight (I am 63)! I have tried everything, and until Feb. nothing worked. Then I discovered the six word diet (eat 100 calories every 90 minutes). Doing that, I lost 22 lbs. in five months and was ecstatic. Now I have to tackle the rest of it (49 more lbs.). My health isn't great and I have been having arthritis and spine problems, so losing the weight is very important for my health. And, my son, who is very weight and health conscious, would be so proud of me if I could manage to lose it all, so I would like to do it for him, too.

So glad I saw the mention of this group on the arthritis huddle this morning. Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hey all, I found out I was shorter than I thought, so I reached my original goal and then added on the extra 10 to get down better for my height. I was wondering why I still saw some places on my body that needed to lose some fat...... I am not in any hurry so as it comes off, it comes off..... I am enjoying my healthy lifestyle journey and all the friends I am making on SP. CMY (Carol)

First thanks for the invite. I'm alot like you Dee. I was pretty thin growing up and very very active. I was able to keep it off due to a very active lifestyle like camping, hiking, dancing, etc. I remarried in 1979 and he and I both love to cook and so we cooked and cooked and cooked and ate and ate and ate...And the pounds gradually stacked up. I was diagnosed with rhumitoid arthritis in 1990 and I took a nose dive. The extra pounds didn't help. I was a teacher and by 1996 my knees and feet begin to give me problems. I had to quit work then due to the fact that I couldn't walk. I had my knees replaced in 2001 and returned to the classroom and lost quite a bit of what I had gained over the years. Then in 2005 my hip collapsed and I was forced into early retirement due to the fact that the school moved me into a roving position after my hip replacement. I loved teaching and felt it had been my motivation to keep active, so I again started putting on the pounds. This past winter was the worst. I climbed to my highest ever at 217. I'm small boned so it didn't help matters. In April this year, I decided there had to be something out there that was a free program for dieting online. I did a search and found Sparkpeople and it has changed my life. I've taken charge of my life. I've started slowly first by working on my diet. I have been a healthy eater but the problem was my portion sizes. I've truly been honest with myself here and put in my ticker tape as it really is and I put everything into my nutrition chart. After a month of this, I started walking. This was difficult and started out with a 5 minute walk and gradually added to it. I now try to get in at least 15 minutes a day. I bought a pedometer which helps me so much in getting more active. I've started out adding core exercises this week. I know this will be a slow gradual process for me but I will do it. And with help here, it will work. I want to be healthy once again and preserve what joints I have left. Hugs. Barb

Susn are you taking your measurements on a regular basis? You may be gaining muscle and loosing fat, the more muscle we have the faster we burn the fat! When I am having a low I like to go back and look at the chart of the inches I have lost. Also, use SP to its fullest advantage; log your food, your workouts, and stay active on the message boards. If yu take the steps the pounds will come off!

I have always been 'big boned', in today's terms I have a large frame. And I truly cannot give my all to my Disaster team if I am hanging so much on that frame.
Plus, I compete in Highland Games that require me to have a muscle structure that is fit enough to lob weights and not hurt myself.
The HUGE drawback that I have at the moment happened yesterday. I was almost hit by a truck while jogging across a crosswalk, and had to sprint to get out of it's path.
Problem is, I stressed an old injury and have re-pulled my hamstring.
So, I am reduced to working on my eating habits, and doing extremely low-impact exercises.
(walking is painful right now)
I am determined to be as fit as I can for the upcoming Hurricanes that are coming and the stress that will be brought along with.

I figure most you you know my story, but becoming obese was very gradual for me. I was never heavy growing up and started putting on weight in college. I cheered in both high school and college and when I quit I didn't change my eating habits, only my exercise habits. I never really thought very much about it because I still had the same friends and the same personality. I didn't see myself as looking and being different.

When I started SP 4 mos ago I weighed more that I did when I delivered either of my children. I woke up one day and decided that I was tired of buying bigger clothes. Now, I know how fat I really was and still am. My motivation has changed from a purely vain to healthy reasons. I feel so much better 35 pounds lighter and I know how great 140 is going to feel.

I am so tired of feeling tired and having no energy. My sister and I talk about how good we feel when we eat right and exercise--why isn't that motivation enough? Any thoughts?
I have been doing SP since June 25th and am only down 1 pound from my starting weight. I am VERY discouraged. Which, of course, makes me want to go out and just eat non-stop. I am starting to believe I can't lose weight. (Although rationally, I know this isn't true.)

There are so many reasons that I want the weight to be over!
I used to be very active through dance, but there came a point where I had to choose: dance or school? I chose school and gained 30lbs.
When I started gaining the weight, I realized I was "turning into my mom". Which is something I always said I didn't want to do. She's a first hand example of what will happen to me if I continue to gain weight. I watched her go from my size, to where she is now.
And the last reason, is because it's my job! I'm a fitness and health professional. What kind of example would I be setting for my clients if I can't help myself live a healthy lifestyle?

My Weight is Over because I want to get healthy! When I began my journey I was obese at 206! I am 47, 5'8", married and have two kids, ages 11 1/2 and 14 1/2! I need to be healthy for my family and a better example to my kids! I have now lost 30 pounds, not obese, but still overweight. I am trucking to a healthier weight and a healthy BMI. My husband and my kids have all benefited from our newer healthier lifestyle! I'm happy to be here to be challenged to lose that last 26!!!!

Hey Team! Thanks for inviting me along. I am interested in hearing the motiviation behind losing this 8-10 lbs.

My personal motivation behind losing 8-10 is to get my body closer to a weight that is not considered "overweight" by BMI standards. Losing this weight will give me the motivation to keep going and set my next goal. I'm delighted to be a part of this team!
