I am not new to SparkPeople, I just fell off. But I am back and can use all of the motivation and encouragement that I can get. I am really trying to find a couple of groups that are really active and off monthly challenges to help me stay on track. I will do my best to check in daily and participate in the group.
Hello all! I have been here before (Sparkpeople) but did not take advantage of the opportunities that this site presented. I was diagnosed two years ago with Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I think my weight at the time was right around 211 - 215. Of course, when I got the news, I was in denial until I made the choice to see my doctor (two months after the initial discovery).
I am back now and have joined several groups. Since the diagnosis, the denial (for an entire year) and the scare of my life (last month), I am ready and willing to make a change. I have started logging more, exercising more and monitoring my food choices. Not only that, I am taking my meds (the right way) as well as trying to be consistent with tracking everything including taking my glucose....That is the magic word, consistent. I was not consistent and now, I am trying to learn consistent behaviors and hopefully, you all can help me out with that.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with that first step.....make that first step count!!! New choices, new beginnings!!
