good morning, I'm new here and want to learn what I can. I've had terrible pain in one place and then it starts cramping. Was in the ER. last night and they did test & ct scan : IBS. So I hope I can get some help on what to eat and how to control this constipation/diarrhea cycle.

Oh Donna, I so understand, I was that way Sunday. All you can do is take it easy, eat very light and try to feel better.
Hope you feel better soon. This does get old.

How is everyone doing?
My stomach has been making me feel sick to my stomach.
I've been really tired too.
IBS stinks.

Have a great afternoon.

Welcome Kelly
As Beni says this is a great group. We all try to help each other.
I have the bathroom problems too. I also get cramps in my stomach but I am hoping that it is because I haven't been eating right for 2-3 weeks now. I really need to get back on track.
What did your Dr. give you for medication?
It is a good thing that you didn't drive.
I wish I could be of more help. If I come up with anything new I will be sure to let you know!

Welcome Kelly to the group! It's a great group with the nicest people.
My IBS does not sound like yours. I also was told I had a spastic colon but it never went beyond that. My IBS is the typical bathroom problems which yours sounds like it is not so I'm sorry I don't know what to say.
I did read that too much fiber can cause the intestines to become inflamed and swollen. Maybe that's the case? I wonder if you backed off on some of the higher fiber items?
The medication he gave you, what if you tried half a pill so you wouldn't be so tired?
Mine of course are only guesses, continue working with your doctor. Hopefully you can find help.

Hello lovely Sparkers,

I have a preliminary diagnoses of spastic colon/IBS (does that mean the same thing?). I'm looking for resources and suggestions of what to do.

My main complaint is pain in my abdomen (always in the same place) which worsens with exercise. My doctor said he could feel an inflamed and swollen intestinal wall when he palpated my abdomen.

I don't tend to have "toilet" problems on a regular basis, which is what I always assumed IBS was - did I just have a wrong view?

Does anyone else in here have matching symptoms??? I would LOVE to hear what you do for it!

My doctor gave me a prescription for a smooth muscle - muscle relaxant a few weeks ago to relax my intestine there, and it REALLY worked. But also made me SO sleepy, I was afraid to drive my car and slept 12 hours a night.... so that had to go. Then he gave me a fibre supplement which doesn't seem to make sense with what I read about IBS and also about my own life - I'm vegan, so I eat beans, fruit, veggies, oatmeal, whole grains, etc... and I drink tons of water.

Any advice, support, suggestions of resources are really welcome!!!
