Hey Carrie! This is a great group. I have found that everyone's symptoms are different and what helps people is different as well. I have to avoid my triggers...I don't have too many anymore. I drink lots of water and exercise every day. There is a lot of great info that has helped me on helpforibs.com. Let me know if I can help you or answer any questions! Amanda
Hi my name is Carrie. I am a 33 year old adult who has Spina Bifida. Due to my disability I have bowel issues. The doctor's told me that I don't have IBS but I believe that I do. I have many of the symptoms that go along with IBS. I am looking for a supportive group that I can talk about these issues to and maybe get some idea's on how to deal with my bowel issues. I will be supportive of others as well.

I agree...everyone seems to be different. My GI doctor was no help at all. He told me I just have IBS. I asked him if he had any info for me about it or what to do and he said increase my fiber. I already new at that point that increasing my fiber is a trigger and sends me into a downward spiral that takes a week to come out of. I found www.helpforibs.com and read through all of her info. I ordered the acacia fiber and it helped a lot. I felt like it was a miracle and took it for a couple years. Then I found Shakeology...its a super healthy all natural has everything you need in it meal replacement. After a month of drinking that daily, my shakeology had stabilized. I stopped taking the acacia fiber and still stayed stable. I do have an attack occasionally if I over eat or have something I know will bother me, but the duration is about a day versus at least a week like it used to be. Everyone is different though. Good luck!

I have been dealing with IBS for about 10 yrs now. I'm just as confused about it now as I was when I first found out. I have gone thru numerous GI drs who have been no help at all!! I don't understand, they are GI drs, how can they have no clue. I even had one dr tell me I can eat whatever I want, diet has nothing to do with IBS. Are you for real?? Towards the end of last year I have been doing more research online hoping I can find an answer to this madness. I am hoping this team will be a source of knowledge and support.
