emoticon it is hard to go anywhere with this condition because you don't know when you might have to go to the restroom.
I hope it gets at least a little better for you in the future.

Dear Andrea, Best of luck in finding solutions for your IBS problems. It is a shame that your doctor can't get a handle on helping you. Totally agree with your husband about the artwork. Maybe as you get more involved with your painting or whatever, you will be more calm and not have to worry about trips to the bathroom. I myself am trying small bouts of meditation in order to not have to use anti-spasmotics too often. Phyllis

Hi, my name is Andrea. I just joined SparkPeople yesterday.
After two years and many many tests (for IBD, Celiac disease etc) and many different medications, my family doctor and gastroenterologist came to the conclusion that I have IBS-D.
I have been suffering with bowel problems for 3 years now. I lost my job because of it and have been unable to live a "normal" life. I find it difficult to go out most of the time, as I run to the bathroom so much. If I do go out I have to know where all the bathrooms are in case I need to "go" (and even then I'm worried about being able to make it on time). I have been really inactive for quite awhile now, but I am determined to get fit and healthy (as I can be) and try to gain some of my life back. I miss hanging out with friends and going places.
I am very lucky to have a wonderful supportive husband. Not only is he currently paying all the bills since I lost my job, but he's also very understanding and supportive of how I feel and how hard it can be for me living with IBS. He has also been very encouraging. I am an artist, and he tells me that being off work right now is actually a blessing in disguise cause it gives me time to follow my passion.
I am so glad I was introduced to SparkPeople and that there are good support groups for people living with IBS and other bowel problems
