I certainly hear you Huggietug...this is no fun and very stressful...they tell us that stress causes a flare up and D but how can we not be stressed when we never know what's going to happen...I just came back from getting a pedicure, they offered me Ginger tea which I took and then remembered that I had D after drinking that tea....I was again so worried and stressed that things would go bad during my pedicure...Thank God it didn't...and I have to admit that I pray to God very hard in many situations that I'm in.

Good luck and hope that someday there will be an answer for us somewhere.

Hugs

I had taken the pro-biotic Florastor, it is yeast based. But it has really wreaked havoc on my bowels. I still cannot get back to any kind of "normal". And I have been in such pain. I had a CAT Scan of my intestines and it is all normal, which is great (my dr. wanted to rule out divirticulitis). BUT what do I do now? At least if it was something, we could maybe treat it with an antibiotic. He perscribed Bentyl and I have to take it 1/2 prior to eating up to 4 times per day. He said everything is just irritated because I have been having a bad flare-up. Once things calm down, the paid should subside. I can only hope!!! I am tired of being afraid to leave the house!

Welcome to the team. I know what you guys are going through as well. I'm the same way. My mornings are very slow and I have to plan ahead on my breakfast if I'm going out or not...I'm having a problem eating eggs in the morning now so I've decided that as much as I love my eggs I will have to put that on the back burner.

I make sure to track my food everyday to see what might trigger it. I've never taken pro-biotic but maybe I should consider that.

Keep us updated

I agree about eating with IBS. It truly is trial and error. emoticon

HI
I have been watching this site for about 18 months. I've never written but I have found a lot of helpful information on this site. I have been having flareups lately also. I went to my colon specialist yesterday and she reinterated to take probiotics. I went to the herb shop today and there is a probiotic just for IBS. I'm going to try it. Also, I have to cut out wheat and dairy. It's all a guessing game, but I'm doing much better than I was 18 months ago. I've added the fiber drinks, taken another type of probiotic and have been exercising. I was told to do a food journal so I could pin point trigger foods. I have lost 38 lbs in 18 months. It's very slow though. I read an article that IBS can actually make u gain weight because the food isn't being processed correctly.

I have been lazy the 3 to 4 months and that's when I've started having problems again. So back to the straight and narrow eating.

Hello Everyone! I also am new to this Team, but not to IBS (D predominent) and I have been going through a really rough time these past few months. It seems when I eat good stuff (fruits & veges), that is when the IBS is worse! It is VERY hard to lose weight this way. I just wonder if I should stay "fat, dumb & happy". LOL. Anyway, I've heard that probiotics are good for IBS, but I'm afraid to try them. I have an appointment with a gastro specialist in a few weeks to see if they want to do more tests and see if she can give me some ideas of how to deal. My dr. did perscribe Bentyl, but that gives me the opposite effect, and then I am miserable for days after taking it. But, I suffer through to be able to leave the house and do something I really want to do. I'm glad I found this Team to hear how others deal as well. Knowing that I'm not alone in this makes all the difference in the world!
