hello,
Heather, you sound alot like me. Lurking this site. I have tracked nutrition here and there, started an exercise program locally. I just have to learn to eat better. Iam taking a soluble fiber "vitamin" for a few months now, it seems to be helping the ibs. MY problem is still knowing what gives me flare ups, but if I have these things and they don't give me flare ups....then I think it's ok to have it. Like coffee.....I love coffee, last week my husband was off work for vacay and I over indulged in the coffee/creamers etc.....live and learn right? :)
Well, I too am trying harder now. Iam going to eat better, track better and work out atleast 3 times a week for starters. Gotta start somewhere, right?

Heather--sounds like you already have a great start! You have your hands full with the family (I can't imagine teens and toddlers!!). Enjoy your journey!

Hello fellow Heather; my name is Heather too and I live in Wakefield and work in Woburn so we are not too far from each other.
You story sounds alot like mine; love my husband's cooking; just started the sp thing last week, etc.
I have gone three days now counting my calories and so far so good.
I started aqua aerobics at the Y in April and I love it but, now I have also added walking 2 miles a day to my routine and I have a set of 3lb weights that I do 10 reps of 8 set a day too so.
So we should keep in touch and help each other out.
I had a huge flare up in the IBS today since I am changing my diet and introducing new things so maybe we can give each other tips on what helps with that too.

Wow Heather...that's great progress...good for you! emoticon I'm new to this site trying to get back on track as well. I'm very positive and enjoy SP very much. I know that we can make this healthy journey and lifestyle that will only benefit us...our body will be happier as well emoticon

Hi all,

I've lurked on this site on and off for a year or more, with the idea that this whole lifestyle change will happen with little to no effort on my part. I guess I thought everyone else's work will somehow transfer to me by osmosis??Obviously, I was wrong! I need to do a little work to get back on track.

Here are my quick stats:

- 37 year old working mom in Boston (work in Cambridge)
- I have an almost 3 year old daughter, 17 year old stepdaughter, and a 19 year old stepson
- I have a wonderful husband who supports my decisions and doesn't make me feel like I need to lost weight to make him love me more
- I try my best to work to live, not live to work
- I love to cook, but even better, love to eat my husband's cooking!

My first steps have been to get a streak going and start enjoying my life a little more. Already I've brought my lunch to work 3 days in a row, cut out sodas, and gotten at least 10 min of exercise each day since last Wednesday. And I feel a little happier! I'd say that's progress.
