I agree with Phyllis about the stress thing. Even when I don't feel particularly stressed my gut churns. Emotions must be linked somehow to those muscles. My poor body, no wonder it's messed up. emoticon

Cindy, I feel exactly as you do with coping with the low residue diet for GI problems and trying to lose weight to help with Type 2. Just have to eat as your intuition tells you. Also I have to try to change my stress reactions, because I believe it has more to do with my GI stress than food. Good luck and glad you found an outlet with Spark. Phyllis

About a month ago, I was in the hospital for a Crohn's "flareup". The GI doctors at the hospital told me to eat a low residue (low fiber) diet. With that in mind, I am careful to choose foods (carbs) that won't raise my blood sugar. My regular MD changed all my diabetes meds and now my blood sugar drops quickly if I am not careful. I have a followup with my GI doctor in 2 weeks and I am going to ask about seeing a nutritionist. I avoid raw vegetables. I can eat them if the are cooked until what I call mushy. I can still eat whole wheat bread and whole wheat pasta strangely enough.

Today I am having an "UGH" day. It is one of those days where I am generally disgusted with myself and just need to lie down until the feeling goes away. :)

Peace Cindy

Hi Cindy, it is so hard to find that balance. I hope you do. I find myself caught wondering what to eat when my bowels are acting up. I swing from constipation no matter how much fiber and water I ingest to loose stools no matter how little I eat. There seems to be no in between. I once had colitis and stomach ulcers at the same time and it was hurt if I ate, or hurt if I didn't eat so I know what you're going through. Have you sought the advice of a dietician or nutritionist to help you figure out a diet that is healthy for you? You are facing a challenge for sure! I wish you the best and hope to hear from you more.

My name is Cindy and I am glad to have found this site and this group. I have 60 pounds to lose. I have diabetes type 2 and Crohn's disease. These 2 diseases are extremely difficult to balance. Both have needs that are completely opposite from one another. With Crohn's, I have to eat a low fiber diet and with the diabetes you have to watch carbs. There is not much left in the middle. I am hoping to win this battle, find the balance and lose the weight once and for all.

Take care.

Peace Cindy
