I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I certainly think if you would like to try again, you should! Why is your family against it? If it's age, lots of "older" people are having babies and doing so with few issues. If you have any medical concerns, be sure to have them ruled out. Otherwise, it's really my belief that is is your decision to make. :-)

Hello, I'm Jessica, 38 and have 4 beautiful daughters. I just had a miscarriage and am struggling with the idea of trying to even get pregnant again. It seems as though family is quick to shoot down the idea of me trying again. I would like input from some of you ladies who will not judge me and possibly a little support and friendship. Thank you so much.
I didn't even notice that the board had been inactive since November! I've been on countdowntopregnancy.com for awhile now, it's a great site but I just can't relate. Most of the gals in there are in their 20's (which really shocks me!) & none of them are dealing w/ weight as well as far as I know. Hopefully we can revive this thread!!!

I'm in a similar boat. I'm 43, with 85 lbs. to lose. I have a preschool aged daughter, and I know I'm still fertile, but I worry about carrying a pregnancy at my weight. I'd like to lose half of it before I conceive. It's a balance between fertility and a safe pregnancy. (I had pre-eclampsia the first time.) I think I can do it now, but I keep feeling that I waited too long to get it right.
Oh well. There's no time like the "now", is there. I'm taking prenatal vitamins, B-complex supplements, vitamin D and calcium, and omega-3 supplements. I'll begin baby aspirin when I conceive.
Me: 41 (42 in May) DH: 42 DD: 2 (3 in May) TTC: for about a year...1 mc @ 10weeks last Aug & 1 chemical/mc last month
Ultimately, I'd like to lose about 80lbs but at the moment I'd settle for the 25 I've gained since DD was born. My "toddler" pounds! That would put me where I was when I conceived her. I was there last June but gained it all back after the mc. Mostly just working on being more self-aware and healthy these days.
Oh! and since this is a TTC thread and we all do share this stuff. This is my current "cocktail"
prenatal, baby aspirin, green tea (tea &/or the pills if I'm sick of drinking tea), red raspberry leaf tea, coQ10, EPO (cd1-O), B-100.....and I'm debating on vitex, currently at cd2, I'll decide that when the "ol witch" is done!
Hi Ladies - I'm 39 and other than being about 40 pounds overweight I'm in excellent health. My husband and I have just kept putting off having a family due to the hectic schedules we both have, but we're realizing that we need to start thinking seriously about it now. My doctor has assured me that I shouldn't have any problems having a child or two in the next few years so I'm not too stressed about it yet, but I would like to lose this extra weight and be as fit as possible before getting pregnant. I'm new to SP (just a week) and I'm really enjoying it and seeing progress already. I'm looking forward to hearing more from you so we can learn from each other. Have a great day! Jade

Hi my name is Michelle and I'm 37 will be 38 when I deliver my second child. My child is going to 13 when baby is born. There is a HUGE age gap between them and I"m alittle scared at starting over again but I'm getting excited at the same time. I really started my weight loss journey in 2009 and lost 30# then seems like I have taken this winter off since I only had 8# to go then and by June I had 14# to go. Now that summer is here I was really excited about finally reaching my goal weight and SUPRISE!!! So now I'm planning to use everything I have learned here at SP towards not gainig alot of unneccasary weight. So far I have gained 6# of that weight but only because I was sooooo tired that I just didn't have the strength to do anything. Today is day 3 of feeling much better and day 2 of working out again. Hi! I'm new to the team and relatively new to Spark People. I started back in january when trying to lose a few lbs. before a trip to PR. At the time my DH & I were TTC(on & off for almost 4 years) and actually were successful, for a minute(must've been the wonderful PR rum!). Well, we miscarried in the 6th week and now I am pregnant again. tomorrow begins week 5 & my first appt. with the Dr. isn't until June 2nd. I am back on Spark people to try and keep track of what I am taking in and monitor my eating habits.
