hello! My name is Petra and I'm from Croatia. I want to lose weight mostly for health reasons. My weight problem has always slowed me down in trying new things and doing something new... I've had it. So I decided to lose weight and free myself from this "prison". I hope to meet new people and friends here :D

P.S. forgive me my English :)

If you're from Croatia too, join this group: www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_i

Hello, I'm excited and a little scared to commit to A New Beginning! I so desperately want to change my evening eating strategies. I want to be able to say I did it and not let myself down again! I want to interact with message boards to ask for help which is difficult for me. Thank you can't wait to get started!

HI, I "signed up" on spark people in 2006 and did nothing. Last year 2013, I got serious and have lost 25% of me 'yay'.
I am very grateful for the weight loss I have achieved; it is amazing and astounding to me. However most recently I am starting to eat badly again and have gained 2 pounds as I am at a point when I feel uncomfortable.
I associate being a certain weight and smaller with bad things happening to me, as a result I am mostly subconsciously afraid of loosing any more weight and get insecure with the weight I have already lost.
I was taken advantage of when I was younger and somehow I associate this negative time with being smaller.
I WILL OVERCOME, I just wanted to put myself out there...as I believe with openness comes healing and I feel blessed by just being honest.
Thanks for the team and thanks for the read!

Hello Fellow Sparkers! I joined this team because I must make 2014 the year in which I take my life back! I first joined Sparkpeople in 2009 to lose some weight and track the nutritional value of what I was eating to try to correct deficiencies, but I wasn't really involved with the community. I came back to Sparkpeople this year not just to lose weight, but most importantly to make changes in my life that will help me get unstuck. Over the past month and I have, I've really enjoyed interacting with fellow Sparkers and have been able to make some small changes that are helping me feel things are slowly, but surely, getting back in motion! Hi. I joined SP a few years ago but its been hit and miss. I am trying to get back to it, and get my life back on track - the way I want it to be. I have spent the last few years doing for other ppl and helping them get where they want to be and now its time to work on me. I am figuring out who i am, what i like, what i want and where i want to go. Getting back to healthy is one of the main things. A year ago i was doing so good, was feeling good about myself. Then in November I decided to up and move across the country. It was a rough start but I am getting there. Its hard, and its slow, but im getting there.

Hi! My name is Whitney, I've been part of Spark for a long time now, but i always have set backs that make me stop trying and I try picking up where I left off...

Not only do I feel like my weight is out of control, but I feel like my whole life is out of contol-- meaning my emotions, my spending, my relationships, my attitude-- everything. So I joined this team to try to get everything under control and become the happy, independent person I once was.

Hi Everyone!

I came across this team while checking out the page of a member who is on one of my other teams. I'm taking my life back and running with it! Readers Digest version...I married the love of my life who turned out to be an alcoholic (left him about a year and a half ago) and recently was part of a big company layoff. The good news? I have severance and unemployment so I'm taking some time to get myself back on track with nutrition and exercise and also looking at big picture life stuff...maybe it's time to move to another state!

Good luck to everyone here on their journey!

My name is Carey and I am a 44 year old stressed out mess! I have spent the last several years letting my life control me instead of me controlling my life. I am Hypothyroid and have Chronic Epstein Barre Virus and I have done a very poor job of balancing the rest of my life with the needs of these conditions.

I have a wonderful husband and three great kids, two of whom are adults and still almost as needy as my 14 year old. I have a very demanding job that leaves me both mentally and physically exhausted at the end of the week. I tend to have a all or nothing attitude at home. For example, if I can't clean the entire main floor of the house, I won't clean any of it. I either spend an entire day cleaning and exhaust myself or I do just the bare minimum of buying groceries, cooking, dishes and laundry. I can't seem to find the middle ground.

We have lived in the same area and house for 13 years now, and I still do not feel like it is home. All of our family and friends are at least 7 hours away and we have yet to make any real connections where we live. I have always been a very social person but find myself just wanting to curl up and not leave the house. I am on antidepressants and most nights need to take a Xanax so that I can sleep.

I am not looking for complete control, just for a balance and a little happiness.

Carey

Hi! I'm Patty and have been through a bit lately. I want to be proactive and get a productive life back. I am going through a divorce and am trying to get off of medicines for depression that I've been on forever and don't think I need anymore. I want to redefine myself.

God grant me the serenity to change the things I can, to accept the things I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Hello. My name is Tanya. I'm here to get/take my life back. I was put on a medication for postpartum depression after the birth of my daughter and in one month I gained 20 pounds. I am 2 days off the medication and determined to lose the 20 plus and the extra 20 pounds I gained with the pregnancy.

Thanks for letting me share,

Tanya

Hello there. I stumbled onto this team, and after browsing some threads, I think this is a good place for me to stay for a while.

I've been working on taking back my life since April/May of 2010, when I finally was able to walk away from my very abusive ex. Since then I've worked on getting healthier and happier in a number of ways. I've been focusing on my needs a lot more, and as a result, had my gall bladder removed (MASSIVE pain, ALL the time), quit smoking on September 30th, 2011, went into therapy, went on anti-anxiety medication, went back off the medication (at least, we're trying life without it right now), finished my Associate's Degree, got a job, and now am working on losing weight. I've gotten down almost 20 pounds, but got sick and jumped back up. Now I'm about 16 pounds down. I want to get back to 135-ish, where I was when I felt the best, physically.

While my ex still tries to control me, I won't let him any longer. I have two wonderful little girls (ages 4 and 8) and an amazing woman I'm engaged to, all of whom are pushing me to be my very best, in all ways, at all times. They help me realize that putting a smile on my own face is as important as putting one on theirs.

Even with all my progress, this is a difficult journey. Losing weight has been the hardest thing to tackle yet. In many ways, quitting smoking was easier. I simply didn't smoke. Eating is something I *need* to do, and without a cigarette to calm myself on rough days, the lure of sugary baked goods is stronger.

I hope to help others as much as get help from you all.

Again - hi! :)

My life is so out of control. The things I care about don't matter to anyone else. The more disempowered I feel, the more I eat and drink and immerse myself in the internet. I want a real life back. I work hard and have nothing to show for it. My family messes the house, wastes food, doesn't take care of anything. I clean, they mess behind me. I feel like my life is to serve my family.

When I try to speak out, they give me the cold shoulder or treat me like I'm crazy. Sometimes I feel like I'm crazy. My life seems pointless and hopeless.

I don't know what to do. I can do things for myself. I know how to do self care. I feel that I am caring. I feel that I accept them for who they are. But I feel like I don't matter and have no say in my life.

Hi everyone. I am a 46 year old woman and I am fairly new to Sparks (joined in September) and trying to get my life back on track. I was always thin and in great physical shape, but in 2004 - 2005 my life took a turn... my husband (he is now my ex-husband, but we are still good friends) started drinking way more than I could control and it basically destroyed our marriage (21 years). It not only destroyed our marriage, but it destroyed me. (He was the love of my life, and it killed me to ask for a divorce in 2008.)

I am starting to get a bit of my old self back - but what I think I need (and want) is not really my old self, but a new me. A new me who can find time for myself and look in the mirror at the end of the night and still smile.

Thanks to all who "listened" to my garble....

My name is Vicki and I'm 56 years old. I've stepped off the scale and will not be using one any more to determine how I'm doing. My goal for 2013 will be to drop inches and to get to the point where I have more energy and hopefully get off blood pressure pills.
I've been struggling with this for a long time. Scale watching has done nothing but make me feel bad about myself and I've actually gotten bigger. So it's time to turn things around and do things my way and let go of the dieting mentality and get heathier both in body and in spirit.

Hello!

I've been a Spark member for less than two months. The benefits are amazing. I am doing fairly well with eating and exercising. But I do need some improvement in the self-esteem part of this new journey I'm on.

After an accident in 2000, I have not been quite the same. I have come pretty close, especially about 2007, when I did have self-esteem, god rid of 13 yr relationship, and was gainfully employed.

In 2010, I had another operation, after which I gained a significant amount of weight.

Please, please check out my profile so you can see where I am coming from with all this.

I am here for encouragement to take back my life with a vengeance. I am so ready to get back my self-esteem and to move ahead the trials of the past.

I look forward to continuing to read posts here and gain motivation from others who are also ready to forge ahead without a backwards glance!

Hi everyone! My name is Christy, I am in my mid 40's, attending college fulltime. I am taking my life back. I have come to a point in my life where I have decided that I need to quit all of the excuses and take control of my health and well-being. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2007 and have had extreme difficulty losing any weight and maintaining my blood sugars at a great level. Times are changing - I am going to be in control not my disease. I am making changes, making better choices and taking names!

Never, Ever Give Up.

Hi There, I just joined this team this morning. Joined sparks in January but then didn't do anything with it. I decided that it is time to get my life back, gave it away for the past 11 years and its time to focus on me for once. The thought of exercising terrifies me so if anyone has any great ideas of how to get to it for the first time let me know.

Hello! I'm a newbie to the team! Just joined 5 min. ago. Looking for support & loved the team name "Taking Life Back"...that's what i've been desperately trying to do since the beginning of the year. Its such a roller-coaster ride so i thought that huddling in with others of the same cause would be somewhat comforting & motivating!

I found this team by reading another's member page, thank goodness for that. I know this team with help motivate me to reach my goals. I have been with SP since 2010 and credit my success thus far to all the great friends I have met on the site. I had dropped 43 pounds and need to lose another 29 pounds. I look forward to chatting with everyone!

Hi. I'm new here and I'm starting pretty much from scratch. No relationships outside my family anymore at all. I haven't had a solid friendship or romantic relationship in a long time. And I gave up on myself as well. BUT I'm rebuilding everything one step at a time...awkwardly, but it's coming together I think.

Hello everyone,
I'm back on Spark and would love to be part of this team. I need to take my life back. I'm 54 years old from CT and have about 25 LBS to lose. I started a new job after my past job was downsized, so I'm starting over with my job and myself. Time for me to get back on track!!

Hi! I posted a few minutes ago by adding a new topic, but I think this might be the place to post, too. I am very excited to finally be looking around sparkpeople, and posting. I want to work with someone, too - someone I could be accountable to by emailing what I did for the day, and then hearing back and getting the "do it" speech when I need it, but I'm not sure who to ask, nor how to set it up... I'm still figuring stuff out, but I have a sparkpage now, so I'm getting there!

Hi Team I'm Sheila. I've joined Sparkpeople numerous times. WW numerous times. I've had quite a crazy summer. I'm 47 years old and my sons are 24 and 21.. I've been married for 27 years and I have a dog (Madison) and my son's cat (Worm). We all live together. The summer started out I was working full time and helping take care of my older sister who had hip surgery. Now my own health problems have made me have to take a medical leave of absence. I've been kind of depressed (I already sufferer from depression) and I know when I take care of myself I feel better. I want to get back in shape. I want to be healthy and look good. I especially want to be pain free. I'm doing physical therapy and may be facing surgery for a herniated disc. I could use a lot of support and guidance. I want my life back. Could use some friends to lean on and I'd be happy to return the favor.

Hi! I'm 29 and I take care of my mom. For the past year and a half I've been really lazy about my own needs and have usually just opted for sedentary activities at the end of a long day. Usually my long day involves a lot of sitting, too, which helped me pack on the extra pounds I need to lose. I'm hoping to get back some of my life because the morbid truth is that my mom is not going to get any better and I know she wouldn't want to see me (and I don't want to see me) still be fat and unhealthy at the end of my time as her caregiver. So I'm trying hard to take back part of my life and learn to have some sense of balance.

Hi.I'm new to this team.I've been using spark people site for a few days now.I find it very inspiring.I want to live my life to the fullest and am ready to do what it takes to achieve that.Starting with losing my weight I've gained. That would be the biggest self esteem booster for me and should help me that much more to achieve the other things I want.I never thought I would go into something like this but am so glad I did. It's great to talk to others that are going through the same things.

I'm new here as well.

I'm ready to take charge of my own life. I don't know that I was ever in complete control, so now's the time!

I'm Amy. I'm married to Robert, mother to Max (my forever 2 year old) and Meghan (14 months). There are many areas in my life that I need to work on but the number one being taking control of my life. Second being achieving a healthy weight. And that's why I'm here!

I am like you I have been on a diet since childhood. I lost 100 pounds in my Jr. year of HS, and did great, that was 1967. Then in 1975 I was at an all time high of 279 and lost 100 lbs again. It was not easy, took a year or longer each time, but being young made a very big difference. I now have diabetes and it is so hard to lose and being 61 yrs old does not help with other problems. I work midnights as a police dispatcher and sit long hours in a chair without moving, I have had my mother-in-law living with us for the past 4 years needing care and she is wonderful which makes it easier, but I have so neglected myself and my doctors are having a fit. So I am working to take my life back and take care of me. My wake up call came when my sister said my mother-in-law looked better then either me or my husband. Then she said "but then you both take care of her and not yourselves." That really set me back.

I am very much on the road to recovery for myself. Just starting but on the road.

Hello..I've been surfing SP for about a month now. I've already joined a few other teams, but going through your discussions and topics, I found that you all can add a bit of encouragement also as I travel along my weight loss journey.

My name is Phyllis and I've been trying to lose weight for as long as I can remember. Not realizing that I've been doing it all wrong the entire time. I'm looking forward to the changed lifestyle.

Anyhoots, I hope to keep in constant contact with the SP experience.

Thanks

Hello! I've been slowing getting around this remarkable Web site and I'm about a month into my Spark journey. I've been good about posting my nutrition/exercise, though I haven't followed the Spark Menus or exercise plans. I've walked and done some weightlifting and am also choosing better foods and smaller portions. My biggest finding? Wow oh wow does the "white stuff" (carbs) have calories! ! ! And a portion of pasta isn't very big! emoticon

Best to all of you on your journeys, Leigh

Been reading all your very determined plans and just hope I can match your endeavours.

I'm Mia and I'm about to work really hard to get my old life back; I'm tired of being a fat lady these past 15 years. The extra weight is literally wearing me down, making me wheezy, causing my blood pressure to rise. It's gotta go !!!

Hi. I'm Kathy. This team sounds like what I need. I have just left a bad marriage, and will be spending at least the next 6 months trying to get divorced from my controlling husband. I'm embarrassed to admit that I've spent the last 25 years letting him direct my activities. I am so done with that. I am taking my life back, and not letting him or anyone else stop me.

Hi everyone. I've been on this website for years but just joined this group. I am taking back my life from my (soon to be) ex husband. In December, he told me he wasn't happy and wanted a divorce. He is moving out of our house within the next week after 10 years of marriage. He has a daughter that I have been a full-time mother to for the last 10 years as well. We have been through a lot together including raising his daughter who turned out to be bipolar. She and the problems with her due to the illness took ALL of our time and energy to where we didn't have anything left to give each other or ourselves. She is finally on the right medicine and good therapist, but it's a constant battle. We are splitting as friends, but it is going to be a major change in my life. They took so much of my time and energy that I totally neglected myself. I have lost about 20 pounds in the last 2 years but I still have 40-50 more to go!

I decided I need to lose weight and get myself healthy. After spending quite a few years caring for my father (who passed last year) I think it's time I took better care of myself. I want to be around for my kids (3) and my grandkids (3) for a long time...so here I am...raring to go!

Hi. I'm Karry. I'm taking it back. Taking back my health from a vitamin deficiency that left me very weak. I'm taking it back. Back from being my selfish ex husband's parent and just parenting myself now. Concentrating on getting my mind and body back to a happeir place ( now that I've vented here :) . Glad to have found this team. I can feel the support already! emoticon

Hello, all!

I've been an inactive member since joining almost a year ago. Since then, instead of using these amazing tools and joining in the community, I spent it eating away the stresses and depression caused by getting fired, being single while friends got married and started families, constantly wondering if I'd be able to pay basic bills, and living with my parents at 29 because I can't afford not to.

I'd track food or exercise for a day or two here or there, but I wasn't committed. But this year I've become committed to changing my life, and one of the biggest things that had to change was my weight...I probably hit at least 200 lbs. because I know I'd lost a tiny bit by the time I had the courage to weigh myself.

Now I'm determined to be healthy and hot for my 30th birthday next January -- among my other goals (which I'm tracking through my personal blog, linked below). This year is the beginning of a whole new me!

I've been an inactive team member for a long time, and just recently came back to the site. I realized that I had a lot of issues to work on, not just weight, and felt ready to get a handle on stuff finally. So here I am, ready to go. Glad to be back.

thanks for the welcome, step one completed today Finally was able to go to the docs, the doc I knew had left, this one is not only a better doc but better hospitals etc. I have worked with this hospital before very good docs, equipment, facilities, and hospital. This was supposed to be an introduce yourself meet, exam other day etc etc This doc talked to me, tested my knowledge of my conditions quickly, did and exam, scheduled test, I already had all except one complete, and after results are in, he is sending me to a surgeon. Already picked the hospital out. He and I speak the same language, have the same goals, and move with the speed I want. Great. Step 2 is operation, 3 is recovery. 4 restart my life, still continuing with the leg work, research and phone calls. So step 4 is waiting for me to catch up. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sorry guys, thought I had intoduced myself but just started posting. This is my second time on SP. Couldn't get to a working computer for a long time and library use is limited and hard to get to. However for my 65th birthday last week, my daughter gave me a laptop and I came back.
The support, information and tracking really helps here. While I couldn't get online, I did follow what I learned and lost over 40 pounds. Took a "NEW" wardrobe out of storage and now that is too big. I am losing more inches than weight and a lot of the belly fat. So it is OK. I must be getting some exercise for that to happen just not what they tell you to do. Last time I was here they had a tracker which followed gardening, swimming, even housework. I used that and kept using the info.
Getting my life back is manyfold not just 2 fold. I didn't have medical insurance and had kidney and gallstones untreated for the past five years. I am now old enough for medicaid, so I go to docs tomorrow to start taking care of it. I also have arthritis since 1971, osteoporosis 1979, on and off paralysis, (thats the trouble with the exercise) Various gastrointestinal problems and asthma with lots of alergies. I am even alergic to myself (adrenilin). of course there have been the usual course of personal problems but I consider them normal. the last ten years have been a test, just a test, and I passed.
Was living with my son but told everyone moving out on 65th birthday for years and I did. So my current immediate goals are get healthier, lose more weight, tone up, then get new career (have chosen it and have offers starting in August/September) move to ????, get a place to live, take my stuff out of storage and live with it again hoorah, go back to having a social life, see plays, enter exhibits, go to concerts, raise orchids, photography again and painting, etc etc etc but mostly to be able to breathe, relax and be calm.

I just re-joined Sparkpeople after being away from it for a long while. I have recently started working again after 18 years of being a stay at home, homeschooling mom. I don't have as much time to be on the computer as I did a couple of years ago so I am trying to just join a few teams that I really feel will help me on my journey. Taking Life Back is SO what I have been doing that I just had to join this team. I lost a little over 10% of my bodyweight on my first time here and I really need to get the ball rolling again. I know that I am more successful if I am tracking things here on SP and I love the motivation and support here. Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Hello every one emoticon

I came to SparkPeople originally out of loneliness. My husband, who passed away at the end of June last year was diagnosed with Dementia confirmed Alzheimers and over the last two years of his life his illness drew him more and more into a "shrinking world"... From wife I became more and more full time Caregiver which meant my life was placed on the back burner so to speak. Without going into things to much , it has only been during these past more recent months that I have begun to realize just how much my Allen's illness had absorbed me and so am now fronting up and trying to reclaim myself back to me. I am very
fortunate I think in that I do have a sense of humour .... ( sometimes a bit quirky and out -rageous ... but seems to draw some smiles !!! ...( thank goodness) ... and an ability to laugh at myself. I love to garden, and have some truly lovely friends here on SP as well as "close by" , here at home. Am also involved as a Volunteer in two of our Cities organisations . We two were never able to have children of our own and my family ... which includes Allen's brothers and sister live in the North Island so "family ways " am pretty much on my own
except for telephone and of course computor. It is quite a journey I am on .......

Hilary . Dunedin. South Island . NZ.
Every day when fully lived- is a grand succession of experiences both pleasant and unpleasant - for life is made up of both- and without the one the other would not be recognized or appreciated.

I would much rather have regrets about not doing what people said, than regretting what my heart led me to and wondering what life had been like if I had just been myself.

Hey Melyssa,

We've all started and given up at one point in the past,
as long as we remember to take things slow and focus on changing habits over time we'll be in the clear. Congratulations on going back to school, I know you're going to meet your weightloss goals.

Sorry...all these groups are different and I started a new topic and don't think I can delete it...anyway.

Hi...thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Janice, I am a stay at home mom of 4. Ages 13, 12, 10 and 5. I am trying to fit in some me time which is challenging but I'm doing it. So the floors don't get vacuumed, just swept. No one notices but me anyway:) So I started TurboFire on Monday and started really watching what I was eating. I had been low carbing since January 1. Had lost 20 then stalled got fed up and gained 6. Decided it was time to change. EVERYTHING. So here I am:)

Hi I'm new to Spark People and this group. I am a 40 year old full time working mother with a 2 year old Son. I am detrmined to drop the weight so I feel better in my 40s and beyond than I have for the last 39 years of my life! I have always been overweight and I have almost 100lbs to loose. I've had many weight loss attempts but I don't ever remember feeling as positive and commited as I do now, previous attempts have all been about how I look but this time I am really focussed on how I feel. I've joined a work out group and work out 3 times a week with a trainer and Spark is definately going to help me get my nutrition under control. Can't wait for the journey ahead - as they say 'Bring it On!!!'

Hello Everyone!

Melyssa -- You can do it! My highest weight was 308 at the age of 26! I got real with myself last year at the weight of 298.4lbs on June 1, 2010! Since then I've lost 75lbs!! I used to trick myself into thinking I had tried 'everything' and just couldn't lose weight, but in reality I knew better. I knew that I was eating way too much and being lazy! I started eating lower carb foods and after a month of that I began exercising 5 days a week. It made a huge difference! By Dec 31, 2010 I had lost a little over 60lbs! If I can do it, anyone can do it! I wish you all the best on your journey!

Hi Everyone :) I'm Melyssa ~ aka MDACRN.

This is my second time on Spark...but really my first as far as dedication and commitment goes. I'm 35 and at my all time weight max of 310. I work full-time ( Three 12 hr night shifts/week) as a labor & delivery nurse. I'm getting ready to go back to school in May, and know that I need to regain some energy in order to survive and succeed.

I've got a few issues I deal with ( Fibromyalgia, Sleep Apnea, Restless Leg Syndrome, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome to name a few) but that's not my focus. I have tricked myself into thinking that I wasn't acting as a victim for a few years now, but I was just floating. I'm ready to fly again.

I'm glad to meet you all! Feel free to "friend" me, send me a note, whatever! I want to be as active and involved here as I can be, to really do this!

Hello, my name is Deb and I have just recently joined Spark People. I am glad that I did. I look forward to tracking my progress. I never really had to watch my weight or intake before, or so I thought. After taking care of family members over the past 30 years- I have decided it is time to take care of myself. Of course I had a little scare from my Dr., that kind of gave me the much needed push. Since February 10th of this year- I have quit smoking, started counting calories, walking 1.5 miles every morning, stopped pushing the snooze button on the alarm and have stopped having my "few beers" when I am stressed out. I haven't felt this good in a very long time. I suppose when you are under a tremendous amount of stress and having to be "on the ready" at any given moment- you pass up the time to take care of yourself to take care of your loved ones. Don't get me wrong- I would never pass up taking care of a loved one. I am hoping I can use what I have learned over the past month to get me through the hard times and continue to take care of myself. This is quite a concept. But, I am going to put my best foot forward. Thank you Spark for helping me on my way to "Taking my life back".

My best to all of you who are fighting the same battle. It is nice to know that I have support through this.

I am enjoying running around with my grandchildren and look forward to having my 3rd grandchild in June. emoticon

Hello everyone! I'm new to SP and your team.

I'm a working mother of 2, married, and like everyone else very busy, BUT I'm taking back my life this year! I decided in 2010 that 2011 was my turn! My husband has been self employeed for 15 years (just a year longer than we've been married) and I've always been helping him with both businesses - books, extra work, websites, repairs, you name it, plus working my own full time job! Our children are 8 and 10 and very active in sports - soccer, baseball and football.

My husband and I closed the doors on our businesses last year because of the economy and he's gotten a regular job so I've decided that now it's my turn! It's time for me to take care of me! I've dropped 12 so far but have 97 to go. I'd love to be between 140-150!

Hi! I've been heavy just about my entire life and it's definitely hindered my ability to really experience my youth up to this point. I wouldn't ever really consider myself to have a "low" confidence level but more of a self consciousness when it comes to some situations. I've made numerous "attempts" which for the most part haven't lasted more than a day or two but now it's seriously time for a change. I want to graduate feeling even better about myself and how I look!

Hi everyone. I'm Becky. I'm 51 years old, married for 33 years and have no "human" children. I do have 2 fuzzy ones. I have a BS and an MEd in Education but I'm currently working in Financial Aid at a University and teaching a First Year Freshman Success course on the side.

I'm taking my life back from well...life. I've allowed life to control me instead of me controlling my life. I feel that if I can get control back of my weight and health issues, I can again feel that I am in control.

Greetings, all!

I joined Sparkpeople some time ago, but without any dedication. I'll be 50 in 2012, and I don't want to cross that threshold in my current state of fitness (or lack thereof...). So this MUST be my year. Seriously.

Like many folks, my weight has been an issue for much of my adult life, but it really snowballed when I stopped smoking in December of 2000 (yay, ME!) I have lost a significant amount of weight in the past, so I know I CAN do it...it's just so much harder in middle age... *sigh*. Looking forward to the support and camaraderie here on SP!

Hi Everyone. My name is Linda. My new beginning started in Oct. I am trying to take control of my life again and become the person I want to be. The person I long to be which is hiding under all this weight. Waiting to emerge and bloom. I don't want food to dictate the way I feel or look anymore. I want to take control and run with it! I tried in the past and failed but this time I am determined and I WILL SUCCEED! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi there. I'm Donna, from Long Island, NY. I'm 43, married and a mother of 3 busy school-age kids. I'm in the process of taking my life back in a whole lot of ways. From losing weight/getting healthy, to re-joining the "career" world after 10 years as a stay-at-home Mom, to getting organized and "fitting it all in", to re-kindling my relationship with my husband, to finding out what makes ME happy.

Not quite sure how to prioritize all that - LOL. But this seems like this is a good place for me to be while I'm figuring it all out!

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.
