Hi my name is Darlene. I went to Zumba years ago and just started up again a couple weeks ago. I am in a different location and it is so convenient and more high tech than where I used to go. I love it! I have been going once a week but thinking I would like to up it to twice a week...This is the most fun I have.

Hello! I actually attended my first Zumba class about 6 months ago but due to children's sports schedules have been unable to attend regularly. However, I have recently purchased DVD's for home so that I can enjoy Zumba regularly.

I am new to the team and new to Zumba. I just went to my second class last night and so far I like it and I am sure once I can follow the steps I will love it! It's a nice change from my regular exercise routine I have been doing (3 mile walks every day).

At this point I feel very clumsy and uncoordinated but having a blast!

However, beginning in June I will start taking my 1st course at www.peopleprogram.org This program offers a variety of class for the mind & body including several dance classes. I love dance.

Zumba has changed my life! I am so grateful for this exercise program and music.

My 2013 goals are:

* Reach goal weight....currently down 66...need to lose 44 more for 110 pound loss.
* Wear size 4 hip hugger jeans by Christmas 2013...have gone from size 22 to 12..still
going down.
*Continue sobriety for the rest of my life...currently 516 days sober.
*Continue to help others daily.
*Learn new Zumba moves and become more fit.
*Take 6-7 Zumba classes weekly plus one kickboxing class.
*Follow the Zumba diet guidelines and make recipes in the Zumba Lovers Cookbook.
* Live Laugh Love
* Incorporate weight training, kettlebells, and cardio including treadmill and water jogging
into workout routine.
* Be a good SparkFriend.
* To post calories, fitness, and sobriety daily.
* To continue to participate in all local 5ks and complete one 10k before December 2013

I started to Zumba in about March of 2012 and so far have lost apx 40 lbs ...and Im inlove and trying to convert every one around into zumba heads

I am brandy new to Zumba.....my first class was this past Wednesday. I felt great afterwards, but man, was I stiff and sore the next morning! On Friday I took another Zumba class and even though I was sore the next morning, I am hooked! I'm thinking about picking up the Wii version to do in my home on those days when I can't make it to the actual class.

For me, Zumba is very similar to the Jazzercise classes that I used to take about 10 yrs ago except it's more movement and I think targets the areas that I'm interested in getting back on track! I can't wait to go back to Zumba class this week and am looking forward to transforming my body back to a healthier stage!

Hi!!! I'm certainly not new to Zumba, but I am new to this group. My name is Colleen and I have been a zumba addict since I started 15 months ago. I take a VERY high intensity class 3-6 times a week (at least 1 zumba toning class a week, too). Zumba has REALLY transformed my body in ways that I would have never imagined! It has also done wonders for my mental and overall physical health...and it really helped give me confidence and feel sexier than I ever have! When I started my journey in January 2011, I had 71 pounds to lose and I am proud to say that as of today, I am not only down 53 pounds but I am an entire size smaller than I have ever been at this weight. I have 18 pounds left to go and I can thank ZUMBA for this!!! (p.s. i do eat amazingly healthier than I used to but without Zumba, the number on the scale might be the same, but my body certainly wouldn't be!)

Hey everyone! :) My name is Lisa & I have been a member of Sparkpeople since the beginning of June. I LOVE this site. I have an 8 month old little boy named Colton who is the love of my life. While I adore my son, I do not love the weight it has packed on to my 5'1 frame. I recently got the Zumba dvds for my birthday & cannot get enough. The spirit of the dancers & the positive energy they radiate is so inspiring!!! I alternate Zumba & running only because it can be difficult to fit an hour workout into my busy day. I also have been attending a weekly Zumba class on Wednesday nights. It is a blast! Go Zumba!! Have a great day everyone! emoticon

Aloha! I'm back. :) I must confess that I have never done Zumba, but my sister says she has the DVDs and will make me copies (ssshhh.... don't tell anyone) Now just WHEN I'll get them is beyond me. LOL! In the meantime I have a workout DVD called Samba Reggae and it's a ton of fun... and I'm thinking perhaps similar in dance and energy to Zumba. It's time I start doing it again and having some FUN while I get back to where I was... then beyond and better!

Hi all I'm new to spark and to zumba kind of. I did zumba a while back just for a minute when the dvd's first came out. I have found some dvd's and have just started to do it again. It's harder than I remember lol. I want to do it at least three time a week. I need to work on my coordination. Wish me luck!

Hi everyone! My name is Judy and I'm new to this team but not to SP or Zumba. I actually have the first version of the DVD's that first came out years ago! I just received Zumba 2 for my Wii for Christmas from my DH and a friend of mine was going to be an instructor but then changed her mind and gave me her newer set of DVD's so I'm all set! My old gym used to hold Zumba Jam's after hours which were so much fun. It's a bummer it closed. Now the gym I belong to has Zumba but you have to sign up for it and can't just expect a spot which is a little frustrating. Oh well. I can always Zumba at home like I just did now! Happy to be on the team!

Hi, everyone! My name is Kim, and I just started doing Zumba early last month. After about 3 classes I injured my back and hip, but I just got clearnance to start doing that again. So I'm going back even though I'm scared of getting injured again. The fear isn't enough to stop me, though. I finally found something I love to do that makes it easy to workout. I'll just go slow, modify, and maybe do some extra stretching after the workout to prevent injury. The last two weeks I have been doing lower impact things like the elliptical machine, stationery bike, etc. but those are so BORING!. I finally asked a trainer at the gym and also a Sparkfriend that is a trainer about starting up again and they said I could. My sparkfriend gave me alot of great advice, like doing the extra stretching, modifying, and talking to the instructor before class and letting her know about my injury. The next class at my gym is on Sunday afternoon, so that's when I will go. I just got an offer in the mail to join another gym that just opened and it's closer to where I live. It's also cheaper. However they don't have very many classes and particularly they don't have ZUMBA so there's no way I am switching gyms. At least with the one I go to if I go 12 times a month insurance reimburses me 20 dollars every month. I already mapped out a workout plan for the next 6 weeks and it looks like there is a Zumba class that fits my schedule 3 times a week. So that's 12 times right there!

Hello, My name is Jackie and I joined Zumba about 3 weeks ago, I was so nervous about joining, but It is great. Just what the Dr. ordered, yes i hurt at first but already my body is in better physical shape than it was before I started. That is why I joined, I was getting so lazy with aces and pains everywhere that I just knew I had to do something. Zumba was my answer and I am so glad I started this. I do only go 2 times a week but It has been great.

Hi. My name is Missy & I've been on SP for 18 months but started Zumba 8 months ago. I love everything about Zumba. I've never felt this way about exercise before. I wake up in the morning & throw on my workout clothes & can't wait to hit play. I go to a Zumba class 2 evenings a week & do Exhilarate videos the other 3 work days.

The first 7 months of Zumba I didn't track my food. I only lost 2 pounds but I lost 2 inches in my waist, 1/2" in my hips, 3/4" in each thigh & 1/2" in my arms. My New Years resolution was to start tracking food & stay within my ranges. So far so good!! I lost 5 pounds in January, have energy to spare & have bought some fun new REWARD clothing!! (I had to, everything is too big!!) I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

I am on week 2 of Zumba. Loving it so much I sold my Insanity workout dvd's and bought Zumba Exhilarate, best decision I have made lately.

My mottos for 2012 are:
Food comes from plants, not made in plants.
Exercise should be fun not work.

Hi ~ I just got back from my first class & loved it!! The teacher had SO much energy & the workout was lots of fun as long as I didn't look in the mirror! emoticon

I'm also doing ChaLEAN Extreme, which is a heavy weights program, but want to get at least 3 good cardio workouts a week in - this oughta do the trick! I'm tired of saying I'm going to TRY to lose weight. This time, I'm GOING to lose weight!

Hi all! I started attending the local ZUMBA classes last month, and am looking forward to meeting more spark friends that are active in Zumba. I have been on Spark before and basically got very lazy and gained back close to 50 of the 77 pounds I originally lost. Looking forward to SWEATING myself into a beautiful dress for my niece's wedding in October!

My name is Tosha, I've just started Zumba last month. My husband wanted me to stay at home and do Zumba on the Wii but I really enjoy the classes. So far I have been doing Zumba 2x per week (1x with instructor and 1x with 45min intermediate level on the Wii) I know I need to kick it up a notch but I also like variety so I consistently do Zumba on Mondays and Koga on Wednesday then I will pick a Thursday or Friday to do Zumba for the Wii

I'm doing this Again... and I'm ready to WIN!!

I've been wanting to join this site after snooping on these Zumba team pages for so long. I've been doing it on and off for a while now and find it to be so much fun! You don't feel like you're working out which makes it more enjoyable for me. I plan to Zumba my pounds away and i can't wait :)

Hi, I started September 28, 2011. I didn't know how often I was supposed to do it, so I think I was doing it 3x a week, sometimes 2x. For some reason, I felt I needed to ramp it up, so I started doing it 5x a week and now it's 6x a week and I feel so much better for it.

I've never loved a workout the way I love Zumba. My goal is to stick with this dvd set 90 days and before the 90 days are up, I'll have already ordered Zumba Excellerate! Has anyone seen this new program? Well, I'll be ready.

Letter to God: Please let me love the new one just as much. Thank you.

I have been taking a break from SP since June and missed a lot of you joining your new team " Dance to get Skinny & Healthy again with ZUMBA".

I, like all of you, Love Zumba and love the support and inspiration we get from each other to keep on track with exercise and in our life style changes to lose weight.

Hi my name is Susan and I started Zumba approximately 2 months ago. I love it. I participate Tues., Thursday and Saturdays. It has helped me tremendously with energy levels and stamina. I have lost 125 pounds since March, 2010. Because of that my body is taking on a new look that I felt I needed to tone. In addition, I traded walking for Zumba because I wanted to mix up my routine to kick start ny weight loss. I still have about 40 pounds to my goal. I am not as religious about checking in like I use to be. I will try to check in at least once a week. :)

Hi all! I am new to Zumba. Went to my first class yesterday. Felt like a totally uncoordinated clod! LOL! I even went the wrong direction!! I am going to hang in there though. Today my lower back and knees are complaining to me. So, I am skipping Zumba today and going tomorrow. Also, I invested in some Blochs. Hope they work out. I felt like my regular workout sneakers just gripped the hard wood floors. Hope the new shoes will make a difference. I have high arch and high instep and a slightly wider foot so hope they will work for me. The woman who fitted me told me to also consider adding Dr. Scholls pillow insoles (not gel). I'll see. Since I got the shoes I am invested in the class and will keep it up. Plus, I think once I get over being so self conscious I will actually have fun! Have been looking on You Tube for some good videos to learn the basic steps. Found a link to a video here on SP that is pretty good at breaking a couple of the steps down... I'm hanging in there! Jo

p.s. I am 59 and need to lose at least another 25 lbs. I am down about 20 lbs from my heaviest. Also hypothyroid so all things considered a bit harder to lose weight now. Hoping this will be a good fix. emoticon

My name is Lisa and I've been on SP for 3 years but haven't been consistent for the last two. I started going to Zumba about two months ago and I hope to make it a regular part of my workout at least 2-3 days a week. Zumba is by far the most exciting workout I've done so I'm committed to sticking to it. I've joined the team in hopes of finding motivation among others who are just as addicted to Zumba as I am.

Hi Everyone! I'm fairly new to SP and am still figuring out the site. I discovered Zumba with a girlfriend of mine about 2 months ago and we both quickly loved it. Not only is it fun and a chance for me to get out of the house for some "me" time, but it's a hec of a work out. I am drenched in sweat by the time the class is over. LOVE IT! emoticon

My name is Jenny and I have been with Sparkpeople for a few years but took a long break from it. I did lose 130 pounds but have gained back 60 pounds. I need to get the weight back off and now I really need to excercise. I have never really liked excercise but really thinking about buying the Zumba dvd's. It looks like a lot of fun. I don't like excercising in front of people because of my 20 left feet lol so that's why I wanted to buy the dvd's. For those of you that have the dvd's, is this something that people with no coordination can pick up the steps? I love to dance so I thought maybe I might stick to this more than my Firm dvd's I have.

Hi, My name is Denise and I have tried Zumba a few times and really loved it. The problem was the extra fee each time I attended a class at my gym. I already was paying a membership to the gym and did not want to pay the extra for zumba, so I went and purchased the zumba my wii and I love it! I am going to try to incorporate this into my already routine of working out 5 days a week at the gym to hopefully get me out of this plateau.Looking forward to being a part of this group.

Just did a 20 minute Zumba workout and........I LOVE IT!! It was so much fun and the time just flew by. Tomorrow I am going to do the 45 minute Dance Party...woohoo!!

emoticon to the team MAYASLIM. I'm glad you love it and in no time you will find yourself doing Zumba for a straight 30 mins. and more. But, you are smart to start out with the 10 min. sessions.

I know of two gals that have lost as much as 45 Lbs and 75 Lbs doing Zumba among other things. I wish you and others the same if that is what you want.

ZUMBA! I just got my zumba dvds on saturday and already I am loving it! I started with the step by step dvd to get familiar with the steps. Moved on to Activate dvd yesterday and OMG!! This workout is so fun, but sooooo hard! lol I can only do about 10 min at a time. I think I'm going to break my work-out up into three 10 minute segments, because that is the only way I can get my 30 min of excercise in per day. I look forward to reading about the progress of the team and hope I can keep up w/ yall!

I just joined this team. I love Zumba! I've been doing Zumba for about 6 weeks now. First 4 weeks I had 1-2 classes a week and then I found another class that I really love and do it 3 x a week! I did a Zumbathon this past Sat for Chrohn's Disease. That was a blast!

Hello my Spark Friend Zumba enthusiasts!
Charlie took the time to comment on my spark page and she inspired me to respond to the team forum.
I have to admit that I spend less time sparking now than I used to because I am spending more time doing Zumba. I have been certified as an instructor since October and have been teaching classes since January. I am a ZIN (Zumba Instructor Network) member and have recently participated in a ZIN Jam...intense 3 hr. choreography workshop...that was a blast! I never would have believed I would become a 'fitness instructor' at 61 years of age. I hope I can still do it at 80! The really neat thing is that I started working out to keep my core strong because I have 7 steel rods in my spine and I had complications from it. Go figure! One thing lead to another and now I get paid to do what I used to pay to do! Cool....don't you agree. What I like most is that now I get to choose all the music and have fun with the choreography. It's a great payback for all the hard work and time I have put into it. I have made so many new friends through it as well. Zumba really is a party! Have a 'Zumbalicious' day my friends!

Chari. I understand cause I get that way sometime. It helps me to get on SP and read SP pages and talk to others. I always get inspired by somebody. Just like today! I have found if folks answer me back in the threads or post on my page it helps me a lot so I try to do the same sometime. I'm glad you answered me today, Thank You!!!

Thanks a lot for posting in my page. I feel so down to accomplish anything, but just by watching your post got me thinking about giving it another try :) So Thanks!
I love Zumba. I don't know if they have released any new videos, the last I got are from 2008.
Your links on your favorite songs are good, I might give you some others. I am a latin soul and i used to teach latin rhythms but that was so long ago, as I said i have been down, hopefully this is gonna be over soon.

Hi my name is Rochelle. I signed up to this team a few weeks ago but this is my first post. I love Zumba I have video I work out to at home. Just started it in Nov. I have lost 27 lbs. was down 29 but picked a couple. I have actually been at a stand still for months I still have 30 lbs I would like to loose. So I am really going to try and get it off. I started loosing and working out last yr. in Feb. My 50th birthday is in Aug. so I am trying to use that as motivation to loose the rest and keep it off.

I just signed up for Spark People in Jan. I only have 2 friends and one of them is Spark guy lol. So I could use some friends to help me keep pushing.

Hi Im Shelly from Michigan, been with Spark for about 3 yrs now, lost 146 pounds then blew it, got away from Spark and fitness for about a yr, gained back about 50 pounds. Now im back and determined to finish my goals. I was introduced to Zumba a few weeks ago and now go 2 nights a week. I absolutly LOVE it !! I needed something new to respark my interest and motivation and definatly found it!!!!

Hi Everyone

I have just returned to Spark world after a long time going in the wrong direction! I have also just started Zumba - I have only done 2 classes (and a bit to Youtube!) so far but I love it. My friend Kim is an instructor and her enthusiasm was contagious!

I am aiming to lose weight and get healthy due to various health issues, like diabetes and depression. My biggest motivation right now is that in August I am going to meet my Dad for the first time - I am adopted and recently made contact with him, we have talked on Skype, but my Big Trip to England to meet him is a great goal to keep me going!

I love to dance so I purchased the Wii games Zumba , Just dance 2 and Gold's Gym dance workout. Dancing is a great workout and after 20 minutes of Wii Zumba I'm sweating but having fun. emoticon

Hello

One tip that I would say would be to have your mind set that you want to do this for you and not for others. I made my mind up and started over again and thought about all the reasons for me and I have been doing really good.

Mine is make drinking water and exercising a HABIT and get your adrenaline up 3 or 4 times a week.
