I am Cheryl and work dispatch at the Tusc Police Dept. I am 29 years old and 30 is in a few weeks.....AHHHH!!! Scary thought!!! I have 2 kids an 8 yr old son and 2 almost 3 yr old girl. I have always been a "big girl" and I am tired of it. I am doing what I can working out and trying to cut back calories. I am ready to finally get the weight off. I don't want or even expect to be a tiny girl and I am just wanting to be at a healthy weight. I want to be the mom who has the energy to go go go. SO any encouragement is welcome!!! I have been a little bit of a slacker lately but am back on track now!!

Hello! My name is Audrey, and I'm recently married. We just moved to T-town for grad school. This might be the first message board post I've ever done, so tell me if I did it wrong. My husband and I are both looking to lose weight. We are trying to cook at home and go to the gym, but it is very hard. It's good to know there are local people who can relate to that. :)

WOW! I have been so busy with life, I havent been able to use sparkpeople. I got an email this morning and decided to log in, thinking gee I really need to get back into since I am gaining weight and needing to get it off! So glad the group has grown. In the begining I thought it never would. Sorry to have been MIA for so long, hopefully will do lots better. IF only it was as addictive as facebook!
I will do what I need to do, in order to do what I want to do!
This week: Remeber that we all have down times, hug those that are having theirs this week :)
Short term Goals: Lose 50 pounds by July 18 as of 5/12/11 Accomplished :)

Hi again. . .at first, it's hard to get "into" working out but if you just MAKE yourself exercise on a regular basis it does become like a habit - you just know to do it. I do recommend trying different exercises - I found in the beginning I got bored doing the same thing all the time. Variety helps keep things interesting!

hi ya'll. I've been looking for tusc people to talk to. this is great. does anyone have as much trouble as I do at working out? I've got to get started. I did ride by stationary bike for 20 mins. was the first time in a long time. my goal is at least 30 mins 5 days a week. does anyone go to planet fitness? I'm a member but have only gone once.

I haven't had any kids yet, but that is one of the many reasons I had to start losing weight. I didn't want to be someone people just wondered if I was putting on weight....
This lady at my work -- I came in one day and they were having a baby shower for her! She was leaving on maternity leave the next day - I HAD NO IDEA SHE WAS PREGNANT.
I do not want that to be me!

Hi, My name is Ashley. I am originally from Louisiana. When I moved here, I was at my highest weight of 333 went down to 264 and got on birth control and had my son and got back up to 325. I am now back to 288-294.
I work a full time desk job and try to watch my portion sizes. Since I get little time with my family it is very important to me to spend time with them when i get home. After all is to bed, I do the wii active personal trainer. I am also trying to walk around my office as much as possible since i do not take a lunch break so I can get home earlier in the day. I have started to write down everything that I am eating.
I am really trying to find things that fit into my life because right now my only health problem is my weight. I want to be able to run with my kids and be noticeably pregnant next time. Just over all to feel comfortable in my own skin and attractive again (yes my husband say i am, but its ME).
Any advice or inspiration would be greatly accepted.

our team does meetups from time to time, so far we've met up to make vision collages together, some of us did a 5k together, and there was recently a meetup with people in birmingham at the botanical gardens. I hope u are able to join us for some of the local meetups!

I love going walking by the river, it's so nice and my boys love looking at the water. I also go to my moms and use her elliptical. I can't wait to get healthy with everyone!!

I'm Sarah, and I'm currently in Tuscaloosa for about 3 more months. I just finished my M.A. at UA, and I'm moving to Atlanta in August for my Ph.D.
I've had a pretty long weight loss journey. I started about 3 years ago on WW, and I went from 180 to 130. I've been on and off SP for a couple of years, but I'm really trying to lose the last 15 pounds now, so I'm here to stay!
I go running almost daily at the Riverwalk, and I'm about to join a gym so that I can do some heavier strength training.

Jenny - ARCHERY??? That is so cool!!! When I was in San Diego I was walking through Balboa Park and I found a little Archery Range. It was clearly a "bring your stuff and pay to use the facilities" type scenario, so I couldn't try it out, but there were some archers out there rocking it and I thought that was so cool. :)
And I have never actually DONE Snow Hinton, and never BEEN TO Lake Lurleen -- so I can totally see that as being a destination for a meetup! :D YAY!

Hi everyone, I'm Briana. I've signed up for Sparkpeople last year, but only began to use it about a month ago. I'm so happy to see this team really active the past couple of days. I mostly do weights and videos at home and walk/jog at Snow Hinton Park. I just joined Planet Fitness though, and am waiting for them to open up. I work 10 1/2 hr night shifts for 8 days straight, then I'm off for 6, so my posting times may seem a little crazy at times, but I try to log on to the site at least once a day. I hope to get to know you all.

Hi! It's good to see more of us in town. bad too because I'm sure someone is going to bust me at TCBY. My workout spots are the McAbee center, the 1.7 mile track around the VA and the road around my complex(8 laps =2.5 miles). I exercise with my husband most of the time. We are getting back into archery and practice in our green space here at the complex. I almost forgot about Lake Lurleen- love to walk and picnic there.
