And I think this is my biggest problem....having to ask myself if I really "need" something. I think my son is better at this than I am. He's a pre-teen, but when we were in our local home improvement store recently, getting things to fix up the yard for Spring, I saw a little sand castle lawn decoration that would look so cute in our yard (we live in Florida, not far from the beach), and it was on clearance for just $4.99, with a normal price of $19.99! I gasped with joy and picked it up, and my son's first words were, "Do you really need that, Mom?". Ugh...words of wisdom...not what I wanted to hear at that moment. Back on the shelf it went. LOL! :) I think I need to take him shopping with me always.
Sounds like a good plan! The biggest savings come from asking ourselves if we really NEED something before plunging into the purchase. Wishing you the best this year as you strive to get rid of those cc bills.
Welcome! I'm right there with you. I really need to get a handle on my spending and saving. It's not like I'm buying anything major. It's just the little things that add up over time....an extra trip to the grocery store for something I forgot, and a few extra items just end up in the cart. Not sticking to my grocery list, etc.
My problem is that I pay off my card, and then the next month, I have a balance, and the money that I'm using to pay off my card each month could be going into savings. So I really need to re-learn how to save money. I did it once before...paid off 22K in debt in one year by cutting way way back on everything...so I need to get serious about saving again. :)
