Hi ROBINS78,

I worked out for three years without losing any weight. Then I started tracking my nutrition and lost 75 pounds over about a year and a half period. Then I stopped tracking my nutrition and put 85 back on over 8 years. My "rebelious self" didn't want to track nutrition- but I finally got back on track and have lost 21 pounds in 2 1/2 months-- tracking my nutrition again.

I hope you do even better than me and are not such an emotional eater as I am-- but for me I found I just ate more when I exercised more unless I tracked my nutrition- so I'd really recommend you give it a try.

Thanks so much for the encouragement!

I am pretty sure I lost inches too. They took my measurements at the gym and we are welcome to go back every 4-6 weeks for a "check-up" so to speak.

I plan to be a regular around here. I feel I NEED it which is the difference.

Thanks for the tips on the groups in the other thread.

LOL you made me really laugh about the 9' tall comment.

See you around :)

Welcome (back), Robin!

Sounds like you've been toning up muscles at the gym; if you'd taken your measurements before/now my guess is you'd have seen loss in inches if not pounds. what do you think?

This time, DO utilize the site as fully as you can. It's free for us and loaded. Please do the Diet Stages, working through them with care and attention even if you think "hey, come on... I KNOW that already!"

The nutrition tracker IS important. Knowing what we eat and how much is crucial. And you'll find that by being consistent in tracking and reviewing your food intake, you slowly but surely change how you eat. But again... be sure to make full use of site because the articles and 'activities' support changes to healthier diet and an exercise program that will work for you!

Looking forward to getting to know you better,
Carol

Hello!

I've been a previous member of sparkpeople but did not utilize the site much. I feel I'm more ready this time around.

Over the last few months have developed a gym routine that works for me. Only thing is that I'm not losing weight. Feeling MUCH better, and clothes are fitting a bit differently (better) but I'm starting to get frustrated with my lack of weight loss. A trainer my gym told me that for people who are already at their goal weight - staying there means focus is 50% exercise/50% nutrition. But for those starting out with weight loss the split is some where at 20% fitness/80% nutrition.

I figured, this would be an excellent tool to help me get my eating habits mapped out and help me stay within my targets.

That was a long description! I'm feeling good to be back using the site!
