Great idea to log your miles here. I've been riding my bicycle to work several times a week. I used the Map my Route utility on the My Fitness page. It claims the route is 14.6 miles long (one way). The computer on my bicycle says its 14.8 and sometimes 14.9 miles long. I guess sometimes I turn tighter corners (LOL).
Anyway, last week was my first week to ride 4 times. Right now I am only riding the easy part -- mostly downhill from my house in the 'burbs to downtown. My DH picks me up at the end of the day so I don't have to pedal uphill in 100+ weather breathing car exhaust. That makes riding to work do-able. Of course my goal is to get my average speed and to learn to climb hills so that I can commute both ways in a decent amount of time.
Miles Aug. 23 through Aug. 27:
Friday -- Time: 64 mins; max speed: 32.2 MPH; avg speed: 13.7 MPH.
Thursday -- Time: 75 mins; max speed: 28.6 MPH; avg speed: 11.8 MPH.
Wednesday -- drove
Tuesday -- Time: 74 mins; max speed: 31.8 MPH; avg speed: 12 MPH.
Monday -- Time: 68 mins; max speed: 31.4; avg. speed: 13.1
