Hi. to the team. I, too, have a son and he has been a "teenager" since he was about eight. He's 13 now. Some days are more trying than others but overall we have a good relationship. Again, welcome.

Hi, my name is Tura. I am a single 40 year old mom of a soon-to-be 12 year old boy. His birthday is March 18th. He is already very much the teenager. lol I can't even count the number of exasperated sighs and eye rolls I have inspired, just by being Mom. He and I have a wonderful relationship and have a pretty open dialogue about pretty much any topic you can imagine from sex, peer pressure, drugs, and dating, to friendship, bullying, school violence, and learning from my mistakes. Yes, he is well aware of them. I am by no means a perfect parent, but I try to turn my blunders into lessons for him and always try to do what I believe is in his best interest. His Dad, is...well...ok he is a nice guy and loves his son, but he defers to me in all important decision making. He and I divorced in 2004 and have a civil and even sometimes friendly thing happening. Desmond is my only child so this is all new territory for me. I know what it was like when I was an adolescent, but I imagine some things are different for boys. Duh, right? Anyway, I look forward to talking to other parents of this age group.
