I find that when sometimes life gets in the way we need to find our own way to cope. If you are interested in getting in exercise but are worried about the time away from your family, find a form of exercise that they can all participate in. Go play soccer with them, go for a walk, have a family jump rope competition. Tell them that you need help and that the more active they are with you the better it will be. They will love the time with you and you will reap the benefits. Exercise doesn't need to be going to the gym or attending an exercise class. Any extended rigorous activity will do.

Unfortunately for your family, if you want to exercise, you will need to set time for it and family will just have to understand. I also always feel guilty when my family does not come first. But, this is something I had to do. Just think about the fact that you are getting into shape for them. Good luck.

Hello and welcome to the Sp family and this team....glad to have you join us...this is an awesome site and can be overwhelming but don't let that discourage you one bit just take your time and you'll get through everything.....I would say log any and everything you put in your mouth first and foremost.....it will show you at the end of the day how many calories you eat and then you can go from there trying to stay within your calorie range....whatever you do start slow don't do everything at one time that can be daunting

I am a homemaker with an amazing husband and 6 incredible kids. Off and on for 12 years I have been pregnant and nursing and now am needing to get in shape and loose some baby weight. But I want to be able to run with my kids, play soccer, swim, and hike. Basically be ready for any impromptu moment with my family. I would love to learn to ride a unicycle and buzz around with my Hubby. It is also hard to find exercise time without feeling guilty when my kids need me.
So far I think that SparkPeople is a great resource but I have a hard time finding the time to enter everything that I need to in order to keep track of everything. I seems quite overwhelming. I would like to know what to do first to get the most of using this site. Mostly I have just cut out refined sugar and flour and I am feeling better already.
